    I have had the G2 chambered in 357 magnum for over a year. This rifle will shoot most ANYTHING Accurately. All of the 38sp and all the 357 Factory ammo. I Started handloading for the 357 since my days in the Navy back in 1974 ('72-'78). Currently having a RIFLE in 357 magnum with a 22in barrel is a whole new chapter for loading for this caliber. With the longer barrel of this Fine Single Shot Break Action Rifle and a Bushnell 3x9x40 is on top. (70year old eyes) At 100 Yards a typical 158 grain bullet HJSP is traveling at about 1300 fps. The Factory Ammo of choice is the Magtec 158. My hunting handload is a 158 grain Lead Hard Cast Semi-Wad Cutter. Deer and Wild Hogs have been taken with ONE shot, factory and Handloads. With my handloads and some factory ammos I get Dead Center Cold bore hits. By Handloading I can Tailor ammo for specific jobs. Current Powders - Bulls Eye, Unique, 4227, and Little Gun. Current Bullets - 125 & 158 grain Lead Hard Cast Semi Wad Cutters, and the same weight XTP JHP. This is a Fine Well Build Rifle, for me, perfect for developing 357 Magnum ammunition For this Rifle.

    That’s such a bummer. Tons of people who don’t really hunt or who don’t hunt archery will say all kinds of things; but this is a common occurrence. Still doesn’t make it any easier. How long did you spend looking for the wounded animal? Did you have to pay a “wounded animal” fee/did it count as your hunt? It seemed like you were having equipment issues or maybe some trigger trouble? I know that can definitely happen; but sometimes it’s just the animal being unpredictable & moving last second. I wouldn’t worry to much about what people here say; the real hunters have missed shots and know what it feels like. But to miss one this big; my heart goes out to you man! That had to be an expensive shot. Thanks for sharing something that many would not! Good luck in future hunts as well.

    • @josephbyers4036
      @josephbyers4036 3 года назад

      Thank you for commenting. Yes, we trailed the buffalo for four days, but never saw it again. It was the most dangerous thing I've ever done and it could have killed me dozens of times if it had charged. And, Yes, I paid the big check as a wounding fee. My mechanical mistake was not using a variable speed scope on my crossbow. The CAMX had plenty of power but with a 750-grain arrow, I couldn't use the scope settings and had to guess. I saw this buffalo the first night of the hunt, yet we hadn't prepared the blind properly. We were constantly under the gaze of other animals requiring absolute stillness for hours. If the wind shifted, they sounded the alarm. You will read many negative comments about this, but perhaps they will help other hunters in a similar circumstance.

    • @donaldfowler7125
      @donaldfowler7125 3 года назад

      @@josephbyers4036 thanks so much for the reply! I’m sorry to hear you didn’t see the animal again; and that you had to pay the fee. That’s a nightmare! At least you got the experience of the hunt/trip and learned a lot, I’m sure. But you tracked it for four days and that’s more than many would do. I can definitely see how anyone with similar disadvantages could have the same thing easily happen. Thanks again for sharing. I don’t understand why so many feel the need to be so negative; it’s not an outlook of a good sportsman. You’d think any serious hunter would want you to help educate others/prevent them having the same issue(s) with their own respective hunts, if possible. After all, hunting demands serious commitments of time/effort/money/thought and any hunter should be grateful for an opportunity to learn something. I really appreciated the chance to see it and talk with you. Like you said, it could help someone (maybe me) down the road on their own hunt.
