Exploring A Landscape Created By Pleistocene Mega Floods
I decided to do a trip to Conewago Falls before the river rises in order to relocate one of the many large diabase potholes I've found over the last several years. This one in particular has some historical graffiti. I also wanted to share some observations I've made about specific spots in this fascinating location on the Susquehanna River near Falmouth, PA. Also made a few new finds. One in particular should prove to be quite interesting. But that will have to wait until we return.

He was stuck in the back side of the upper room marked number 17 on the map. He tried to make it through the passage with the number 13 and got stuck. Their is nothing but a big drop coming through that passage is you don't do it right.
Im glad we can see the same perspective of the area. You can tell its a result of some serious water flow.
Yah's (God's) flood in Genesis 7
It would be interesting to go through some of the tunnels with a metal detector to find if Civil War soldiers crawled through them and maybe lost metal buttons, buckles or other metallic objects.
Hi folks, So that's why tge Anunaki are still there. They are harvesting the gold under the ice. V/r., R.
I know it's at the third power line where is the best place to park? I'll be going this weekend
My family and I saw that carving in the early 1960's and were amazed. 1909 would be the year.
that construction is awesome Brett😮
Thanks for the video Brett. I have explored the area in the past but didn’t know about the holes you presented. Current day ice flows have enormous force. The bridge to city island is a recent example.
I didn't even think about ice. Definitely a possibility. I've seen the video of that bridge going down and remember the massive ice at Long Level when I was young.
😊the great world 🌎 wide flood in noahs day is what did that!!!😊❤
A Glacier ice jam musta broke up and rushed south.
Yeppers, multiple times they think. Up around Muncy. The lakes the ice dams held back could get as deep as 100 meters.

Collecting mooring balls at season's end?
I think so.
The river has great wisdom and whispers its secrets to the hearts of men. Mark Twain
🎉wow Brett. Very interesting!!😊
After watching this, I was like oh snap cool little spot i can go to now and explore a bit.
Inside the big tunnel is interesting.
Love to Grab it 😜
Thanks for sharing, have a great day
All India's are here 😂😂❤❤
For those who don’t know this siren is a Whelen Vortex R4 in air horn mode
Well, that was interesting. Never saw a river walk. Dangerous, yes, especially alone. Rivers Guide, "Let the river guide your soul"
Yes there is some danger. I'd like to do it with a group.
Your near my buddies house lol
Pourrais-tu nous tester la nouvelle insta360 ace pro 2 😂🎉
I think the solo walk is risky. You have a chance of getting a foot jammed in an area with current. It should be an easy kayak trip.
True.
Looks cold and slippery.😮❤😊
Really cool investigation, and the snake was a bonus. A note: there's a huge Raw sewage dump into the susquehanna around Penn's Creek this week, Sept 23 so. . You know . .
I think I heard something about that on the radio. I'll avoid the river.
I have walked across 3/4 of it, holding onto a boat. There is a channel by the Lancaster side that was too deep when I did it.
You wouldn't happen to know the spot where they could walk across? Assuming it's not permanently underwater due to Lake Clarke.
@@TopoRanger it was the area you were in. Just upstream of the route 30 bridge. Having the boat to hang onto made it possible.
I wish you guys would post the date that you are actually there. That way we can look up the weather and other things like river levels. Good videos.
I'll start putting a note in the description with the date the episode was filmed.
Great
I love the northern water snake. They are gentle, non-venomous and harmless. I grew up in PA and really miss the rivers. Spent a lot of time when younger canoeing and wading and exploring.
This one was patient with me and really only moved at all because the camera got close. I wonder if they hunt in the water and on land? I did some wading when I was a teen, not much. But while filming for this channel I've grown to love it as a stand alone activity. It's great exercise for your lowered body and there is so much to see.
@@TopoRanger they do hunt in the water... I guess things like crayfish or little minnows or silly mice that need to swim across a creek. Amazing that they've evolved to hang out for so long in water - as they are air-breathers like you or me. I've subbed your channel and will comment often to help you build your base.
Beautiful. Love that area!
Glad you enjoyed it Susan.
interesting
what ended up happening? when u find a bird in distress i was told to wrap them up, and they warm up and get out of shock
I had to leave right then so I just put it down by a tree. I think it might have been kicked out of the nest because it's eyes seemed to be fused shut and the mama bird decided to abandon it. I've seen fledgling in that same yard but never with eyes malformed like that.
Im guessing its an Owl feather
That's what I thought. Someone else said probably a Turkey.
🎉really 😊you must your voice for good!!!😊❤🎉
interesting
I have wondered if it was possible, each time I have crossed the 30 bridge to York in the last two weeks...
I had planned to try today but I worry about a all that rain we got last night. The hydrograph was at 2.6 yesterday I think. Now it's going up so I might hold off. Don't want to be flushed away in pulse of flood water coming down the river.
@@TopoRanger 3.29 to 3.34 overnight... 🤞
Cool!😊🎉❤
Caught fish there when the rivers is higher right off that cliff.
Karl Benz built a car in 1885 and applied for a patent for it in 1886.
I wonder when they became common enough to necessitate putting them on the price list. It looks like cars were added at a later date than 1886 based on the font. Thanks for the info Michael.
what road is this that you are entering on? i cant seem to find it online...:(
Take River Road off of 372, the reservoir should be to your left. After you go over the bridge it will be the second road on your right. If you set your GPS to Wissler Run Park or Muddy Run pumped storage it should work.
@@TopoRanger thanks!
❤love your adventues and your voice! Something calming about it!!!😊🎉❤
Glad you enjoy it!
Wow. I have been within 100 yards or so of those markers probably hundreds of times and never knew that they were there! Thanks for the tip!
cool stuff Brett :)
dude gonna get shanked by a hobo knife when he comes across some crackheads .. lived in columbia the last 2 years and in lancaster city 9 years before that
There is a spot not far from the tunnel that I won't go in for that reason. I did see a guy encamped in front of the tunnel on Shawnee Run once so I steered clear that day. Thanks for watching Ken.
😮wow Brett thanks.😊❤😊
Thanks for taking us back to the creek as well as the canal! You have a great way of making us feel as though we are right there with you. Thanks for sharing!
That's gotta be the best compliment I can get. I definitely want you guys to feel like you're there. Thank you!
