Winning the Avalanche Game
"Winning the Avalanche Game" was the very first full-length avalanche education video in North America that we are aware of. It was released in 1996 by the Utah Avalanche Center, mostly produced, filmed and edited by former Director Bruce Tremper. Videos like this are common now, and it's hard to appreciate how cutting-edge this video was at the time. For many years, this was the standard video for most avalanche classes. It was one of the first projects done by the fledgling Forest Service National Avalanche Center with Doug Abromeit and Bruce Tremper working together. While some parts may seem dated, the info in these videos is still very valid. Watching it all is a great refresher....

This video illustrates the ins-and-outs of the North American Avalanche Danger Scale. Many thanks to Nomadic Creative, Grant Gunderson Photography, and the Colorado Avalanche Information Center for their work on this video.
That’s it only 45? With millions of user days by season, that’s a low percentage.
Great informational video and nice animations
LOL at the music.
Thank you for the insights and expertise.
EXCELLENT 👍👍👍 VIDEO!!!
TO"TIM CONBOY" AND EVERONE ELSE,THIS PERTAINS TO THEM, FOR THE PEOPLE THAT GET CONFUSED ABOUT THIS VIDEO THAT'S OK,IT TOOK ME AWHILE TO ADJUST BUT IF YOUR CONSISTANT WITH THE VIDEO (BY WATCHING IT OVER AND OVER AGAIN YOU WILL CATCH ON TO IT.OR IF YOU KNOW SOMEONE IN THE SAME SITUATION AS YOU ARE SPEND SOME TIME WITH THEM BY DISCUSSION.
Wow this is so helpful!
Thanks again
EXCELLENT 👌 VIDEO,JOB WELL DONE!
Good video with clear explanations. Starting at 1:39, it is a bit confusing that north is depicted as being to the lower right in both the aspect elevation diagram and terrain depiction. Consider rotating these 90 degrees counter clockwise in the future.
Most avalanches occur on north and east facing slopes so I think it's intentional.
I like this narrator's voice.
Great video for the basics.
Ya, use your common sense..., not testosterone!
Goodwill!!!
It could be in some cases a bit confusing
FIRST OF ALL,THERE SHOULDN'T BE A PAUSE AFTER THE THIRD BEEP,IT SHOULD CONTINUE NON-STOP AND SECOND,WITH THE DIGITAL TRANSCEIVERS NOW DAYS LOOKING FOR ANOTHER TRANSCEIVER SHOULD BE ALOT EASIER THAN WHAT IT USED TO BE,ANALOG,WITH ONE ANTENNA.REMEMBER, PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE,YOU STILL HAVE TO PRACTICE ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COMES TO MULTIPLE TRANSCEIVERS.TRY LOOKING FOR FIVE OF THEN IN 4 FEET OF POWDER AND PROBING THEM ALSO,NO DIGGING UP,MY TIME WAS (BACK IN 2000 USING A BCA TRACKER DTS) WAS 15:03.AND I WAS ON MY 2ND WINTER SEASON.GOOD AS FAR AS LOOKING FOR THEM AND PROBING THEM BUT NOT A GOOD TIME IF I WERE TO INCLUDE SHOVELING!NOW THAT WILL TAKE UP MOST OF THE TIME RIGHT THERE.
Gravity on hill is the key player
Ya, this is how it gets triggered
I like the sound on the end ...
Interesting
Simple explained
Transportation to transformation
Thanks
