I play and commentate video games. I like putting up blind playthroughs and re-plays of games that I love. My preferred games are Zelda, Super Metroid, Musou, platformers, adventure, and pretty much anything that looks, sounds, or is vibecore. I try to keep things positive and clean for the good people who come to my channel.

why did you play on the switch?it is,so hard for me to say this, not powerful enough for a perfect experience, the transition between loops is only supposed to be as long as the animation
I thought there was some mechanic making waking up harder and harder, then someone recommended completely closing the game and reopening it every 3-5 loops. Runs much smoother that way, but I think the Switch version has memory leaks.
The switch version looks like a bit of a buggy mess lol
It IS a bit buggy, but a Switch is all I play on. So glad they made a physical version for this game and that some wonderful people recommended we play it for the channel after Tunic.
did the guy that voiced Geralt voice the intro?
I didn't even notice that! Just checked and you're right!
@@QuillpigGaming wow, neat
I like how slow you take things, one of the best ways to experience the game IMO.
lol. I'm kind of a slow gamer in general. This game was kinda like Tunic for me though. I had to play for a bit and then think about it for most of a day to try and come up with new questions and put answers together. There aren't many games like this.
1:08:37 You found a tear! Those are exceptionally rare, what a cool find!
Honestly surprised the game runs as well as it does on Switch hardware.
The tutorial is legitimately one of my favorite places in the game. You barely even notice its there!
Really love this game. I had no idea what I was getting into!
Shouldn't you be playing the Demo of Episode 2 ?
Episode 2? Not sure what you mean.
@@QuillpigGamingI meant you could Play the Demo of DoD2 (the Dead King's Secret) but I realize now you played on Switch and the Demo is on Steam only so far.. i really enjoyed your Video btw 😊
@@doctorfunfrock Thanks! I liked the demo, but hope they made some improvements on the sequel. I like playing at least one indie game at all times for the channel and these demos are helping.
@@QuillpigGamingwhat kind of improvements would you hope for?
@@doctorfunfrock not having played the whole first game, i just assume general improvements. like things that they learned while making the first one. wasn't trying to imply anything against the demo.
Love the art & music in this game, another metroidvania I need to try. Great stuff 👍
It's a great game and I really liked the world-building (even tho I'm not sure where historical folklore ends and they begin) and music. There is a little late game difficulty uneven-ness.
the 15 seconds it took me to realize this wasent an outer *worlds* video
I hadn't heard of Outer Wilds until some viewers said I HAD to play it after we finished Tunic. I also thought it was Outer Worlds. Now, this is rapidly becoming my favorite game. 😃
Oooh interesting was thinking about getting this

The game feels lovely. I'm still on the fence about buying it.
@QuillpigGaming reminds me a lot of Hayao Miyazaki's movie Kiki
@@robertomartinezreyes7266 I haven't watched that one yet, but this does kinda look to me like the art style Baldo: The Guardian Owls used and they said Studio Ghibli was their inspiration. That game's in my playlist if you want to check it out.

Hey Quillpig...I am going to have that initial playthrough of the first world of New Super Lucky's Tale uploaded shortly (WITH commentary this time...lol), and also plan to upload a first level playthrough of Kao The Kangaroo. I hope you'll check them out! I unlisted the first playthrough where the mic failed...
So just FYI, there are invisible collectibles too...coins, gems, extra lives. AND you can tail swipe jars and other things too. too for more coins. The invisible stuff is all over... sometimes even up high. Greg the mail golem, by the by, reminds me of a clingy wannabe friend. Lol. He gets...annoying.
It's a loooong initial cutscene, huh? Lol
Not bad. They needed to established the world, I think.
@@QuillpigGaming sorry, er...my mic didn't take on that playthrough. I'll repost again with commentary later today. My bad!
@@QuillpigGaming true that. And it's a good story. Of course, there was a sequel inferred at the end of the bonus world, but they haven't released anything yet, and there seems to be no immediate plans to.
Great to see you delve into this! And thanks for taking my recommendation. This game is a "love letter to the great platform games of the past", as the devs say, including Super Mario World and others, and as you are doubtless seeing now, the game mechanics are very much similar to other famous platforming titles. And you'll encounter increasingly-challenging puzzle sections, similar to the statue puzzles in Baldo. Heh. This game starts out VERY easy, but gradually gets more challenging. And the end-game bonus world you unlock after the final boss battle? It's VERY challenging! It will really test your hand-eye coordination and strategic skills! (I know...I've played through it several times!) I look forward to seeing you delve into the full game!
I never got into any of the 3D platformers, so this style is new to me. I picked up soem 3D Mario games for Switch a while back and have them on my calendar to play for the channel. Will have to play through the games I've already bought before stretching out into new series, but this one looks fun!
@@QuillpigGaming personally I am not usually into 2D side scrollers (the old Super Mario Brothers trilogy being an exception). But I am not into the older and newer Sonic the Hedgehog side scrollers. I prefer the freedom of the 3D environments.
@@jerseycapt did you check out the Lightbringer Demo? You might like that
@@QuillpigGaming not yet, but I will tonight for sure.
@@QuillpigGaming Check that. I just looked at it. GOD, that looks a lot like NSLT! Seems like the same digital artists worked on both games. I might check this game out, if it's available on the PS5
There's way more to the Mill quest than it seems, you can tease out a whole separate story and resolve an old mystery from talking with the Miller, the mill maid and Thomas (even involves a bit of pickpocketing that you have to figure out yourself) - can keep it for your next run. A number of quests have several paths that aren't immediately obvious and talking to the main people involved or investigating can bring up more info that most games wouldn't hide like that. In this case it was the quick straightforward solution, which isn't bad at all - you resolve your mates' issues, but there's more content to be seen in the future. IMO it could've been even better if you could do a couple of the possible outcomes, since for some reason you're unable to do two things at once and it locks you into one path. That other story could've remained as a possible thing to be investigated further even after you resolved Fritz and Matthew's problem, but for whatever reason once the quest is resolved, it's done. Minor gripe though.
Overall, I'm extremely happy with this game. Getting better at the systems helped a lot with that. But I am playing this game a little strangely and I think it's because I expect the game to punish me constantly for split-decision plot choices.
definitely playing this since i just beat twighlight princess
I hope you enjoyed Twilight Princess. It's one of may favorites and I miss playing it. Hope Nintendo re-releases it soon!
Oof, RIP to Elishka's better life and welcome to indentured servitude - still it's a valid possible outcome and you can see the other one if you replay the game in the future. When Fritz and Matthew's next quest auto-activates, just know there's like a few days to have it done and it will auto-fail if you delay it too much. There are several time sensitive quests in the game, the most important ones are In God's Hands and Pestilence. Oh, the Executioner also has another quest with a few days as limit, but he tells you that himself. I see you cover the requirements for the best bows now - Cuman bows are the way to go, alongside regular top tier longbows. but you can compare them and see which one to go with. A couple of the cuman ones have the same power for 12 str against the best longbow which requires 15.
Thanks again for your tips! I feel like I'm going to be replaying this game a lot in the future. For Elishka, I wasn't sure there was another option she'd accept, but I'll add it to my list to revisit. I'm still curious about throwing poo with the Skalitz boys.
You've already killed the bandit leader, he had the spurs on him you need and the body despawned rather fast, not sure why, maybe the Switch has some limitations for random things like that. The unique items you need when you don't pick them up go the gravedigger at the church - if you activate the Lost & Found quest you will see the marker pointing at the house near the church, in one of the rooms there's a chest there you can pick up the spurs. Then the quest for the bandit camp will clear when you hand them in to Bernard. So basically clear the new quest because of the lost item, and clear the other one as result. You can't sell the random horses you find near bandit camps, guess they just didn't implement that though it makes sense we should be able to. Just leave him in a nice pasture somewhere and that's about it. Pebbles shies easily, so it's a good time to pick up a tier 4/5 horse from Neuhof or any other stables - when the horse doesn't throw you as soon as you get in an ambush you won't die on the roads as much. A 4 saddlebag saddle will also come good, and the military horseshoes will increase gallop speed a lot too.
Thank you so much! That totally makes sense and will definitely take your advice. I'm new to this type of game, so I may just be a little slow picking these things up, but I'm still really enjoying the game.
Tourney is totally doable, you're fighting 1v1 and you can handle those with mostly face stabbing, the master strike parry and managing your stamina well.
Might do an entire episode around the Rattay area soon and try to hit that and other local quests all together.
(you can reply directly to my comments here if that suits).
Hey dude - I've watched a few different gamer vloggers play Baldo and the Guardian Owls, and the two dlc games, but I really have to commend you, as you are not only far more meticulous and entertaining to watch (I love the incidental commentary and the occasional "nope" as you're trying out puzzles. Lol), but helpful too! And I have to admit, I turned to YT several times for help, as the puzzles ARE challenging (and I say that as a dedicated platform gamer)! I don't know whether or not you have a PS5 too (I have that and a PS3), but I highly recommend the Ratchet & Clank series, and especially Rift Apart (the latest game in the saga). There's also last year's reboot of Kao The Kangaroo, and New Super Lucky's Tale (the last two are playable on various consoles, not just PlayStations). If you want to talk more, please message me. I'm on Discord, X, Facebook, etc. Thanks for an entertaining watch of your Baldo playthrough! The last chapter I have to play IS The Final Chapter. But I am a subscriber!
So glad you enjoyed the playthrough and thank you for the recommendations! It's unfortunate Baldo had playability issues at launch and I'm glad to see they resolved (most of) them. Some of the puzzles were impossible before patch.
@@QuillpigGaming yeah, the only issue I have is that the final DLC (The Final Chapter) didn't come with the digital copy of the game I purchased from the PlayStation store, which upsets me. The other two (Three Fairies and The Temples) did. I wish I knew how to get hold of it.
@@QuillpigGaming Okay, I figured it out. Lol. I had to delete one of the completed games. Gonna start The Final Chapter now!
@@jerseycapt it would have been nice for them to add a fourth save slot so you could save each story/dlc separately too
@@QuillpigGaming Exactly!
You're not quite ready for the Skalitz fights yet, sometimes there are guards you can assist and pick up the dead guys equipment, sometimes it's bandits vs cumans and both groups jump on you. You need a strong bow with piercing arrows, right now you're barely drawing it back before letting out weak shots and they have plate, so it did next to nothing. Potions for +str/agl/vit will help, but you still need to finish them off and not get hit as much, which is a big ask against 5-6 of them at low levels.
Thanks! I'm loving the game so far and wanting to push a little on where I can go. Looks like I'll be focusing on archery for a while, which is good because that's my favorite play style! I'll definitely look out for piercing arrows.
This was a good dungeon. It took me a while to figure out how to beat the skulltulas and the hydra beasts too 😅. But the Beetle is full stop one of my favorite Zelda items. I used that thing so much
I'm loving the Beetle!
Love Skyward Sword. It gets an unfair rep IMO
The music and story alone are fantastic. I never played it on Wii, but understand the Switch version has less annoyances. Either way, it's one of my favorites now.
It's nice to see someone run through this for the first time. :) Most of the videos are from people who've practiced, and probably been through it a few times. I've been through three myself, though I don't count the third one. Got to the Kingsmoulds at the end on that run, and then got stuck in the wall somehow and died before I could get out of it. Playing through the game again now though, and looking forward to running through there again when I get there. :) This game is responsible for getting my platforming skills back up after years of playing FPSes and RPGs. :D Well, this, Dead Cells, and Sundered and the like. :) Two minor tips. The honeycomb charm will help keep you healthy where there aren't soul statues. I also like to remove Mark of Pride and Long Nail to avoid things like hitting the ceiling. ;) Nice run! Edit: Oops, I missed the part where you adjusted your charms. :D
Thank you! I'm finding this incredibly hard and a friend of mine told me it should only take about 8 minutes to through the entire thing. lol
@@QuillpigGaming A flawless well-practiced run might take about 8-15 minutes, but for us mortals, it takes a bit more time. I think my runs are usually in the hour or two range. I've had a lot of practice, and I'm still not as good as a lot of the people on RUclips :) The last section before the Kingsmoulds is the part that always gets me. I can easily get through the rest, and then I spend all my time on the last section.
@@DrJ3RK8 I'm not used to this tight of platforming. Alwa's Awakening had a few sections of tight platforming and Prince of Persia had a few small challenges this tight, but Path of Pain has been both tight and long. I wonder how Silksong's going to follow this.
@@QuillpigGaming That will be interesting to see. My guess is that it will be largely a similar balance overall, but then have some additional things that go beyond the first game difficulty-wise to challenge the type of people who can run through the PoP in 15 minutes. :D I'm sure they'll want to push the envelope there a bit, but probably not at the expense of everyone else. The first game is quite flexible in how it allows one to play, and complete the game even. I would expect that to happen again.
@@DrJ3RK8 I hope so. When I first beat Hollow Knight I was very excited, until I found out I was only 86% complete. Then the exploration really ramped up.
Was going to comment you can summon your horse by whistling no matter how far you left it, but you figured it out. The lack of bow reticle is a bit shit, but by practicing more you get a feel for the flight path - aiming slightly to the right helps as the arrow flies in a bit of a diagonal direction from the center of the bow (where the arrow shaft is pointing). Not struggling to control it helps too - aim at the right spot, let the bow sway and release when it's back to the proper spot you want the arrow to go. Use those savior potions before engaging bandit camps to save some hassle, and remember you can save by quick sleeping for a hour in SOME beds - like at the mill, or some random camps, or in the wilderness - if you see a 'sleep and save' option, that's the useful one. Personally I find the limited saving mechanic annoying so I've just modded it out on the PC, but on console you should use every advantage you got. Good to see you're having fun with it.
There's a ton of systems to get to know, but I'm really liking the game! Need to practice up on archery and get some cool armor. Thanks for the tips!
Alchemy helps a lot, especially in early game when some potions can boost stats a lot, or for purely utility things like nightvision, which is super useful. You can brew stuff even now if you know how the recipe goes, and I think you should have the savior schnapps available by default. Clicking the help button brings up the instructions and go from there. TL;DR pour base liquid to cauldron(water/oil/wine/epirits), add herbs (grind them first if recipe calls for it), brew for x amount of turns (1-3) by pulling on the bellows, add other herbs and brew more if needed, grab vial, point it at cauldron and use it to pour potions in. Some potions require distillation, then instead of pointing the vial at the cauldron, point it at the smaller distilling apparatus to the lower left. Pulling on the bellows once just starts the fire, pulling twice is cooking without boiling, 3 quick pulls is boiling something for 1 turn. If a recipe calls for boiling something for 2 turns, 4 quick pulls of the bellows will boil it longer (lukewarm>cook>boil>boil*2). There's an hourglass there to see how long a turn takes, though it's not necessary to use it if you know the rough timing of things. Last, brewing a perfect potion gives you 3 of them, getting a step wrong (like the timing, or not grinding something when it should be) gives you 2 potions, messing up twice gives you one, further fumbling it fails the process.
Thank you! I plan on learning alchemy in the game as soon as possible, but understand I'd have to learn to read first. I'm loving this game.
What the hell. Do you really not understand how your quest log and map work? Fiddle around with the menus, check your quest log, it shows objectives on the map. That's where you can find most of your targets in every quest, unless the quest sends you to a vague large area to search through. Disable tracking for quests you're not gonna do soon, enable only those you're actively pursuing. Radzig is on the map if a quest requires you to talk to him. And to not end this sounding like a d1ck - you're otherwise doing great, well done with combat and not being discouraged by the wonky bow mechanics or lack of reticle, etc. Just get better acquainted with the menus and map. Edit: Oh wow, never seen that Hans dialogue bug. Usually you can just talk to him about the wine, not sure what happened there. Maybe console versions have some leftover bugs what weren't ironed out.
Escaping the Ginso Tree has the best the soundtrack has to offer, as well as a tough as nails platforming challenge
lol. i definitely struggled with it.
unfortunately for recipes you pretty much have to look them up. in the original there might have been some official guidebook you could buy in game stores or something but in the remake theres really no hints, and some of them are quite obscure. maybe with a LOT of trial and error you could get like 95% of them, especially since some of them have multiple ways of making them, but i dont know how reasonable it is to figure them all out. they did add a prize to the remake if you fill out the whole journal, which includes recipes
Do you think it's worth it to try and 100% the recipes with a guide?
@@QuillpigGaming there is a unique prize if you fill out the journal, its hard to call it worth it but im a compleitionist so i'd probably do it even if it was like 5 coins
Hi, I have a question. Did you notice any performance drops? Especially in that queen stalker fight?
I'm not hyper-sensitive to performance drops, but I didn't notice any. The game loads areas kinda slow on Switch, but that was the only issue I noticed.
This game never fails to put a big goofy smile on my face
Felt the same about Super Mario RPG. It's just ridiculous and fun.

Will definitely play the sequel some time this year. The atmospheric storytelling in this one was fantastic.
