    So the propane gas doesnt work with Mars? Or is it just adopter issue?

    • @mechoutdoors
      @mechoutdoors 6 месяцев назад

      I think it's just an adapter issue, I used a Camping moon adapter and appears to work better, just not great.

  • @beastslayer9153

  • @josephseebart8488
    @josephseebart8488 7 месяцев назад

    how is performance with propane? did you figure out why the propane was so low pressured in the last video? maybe try refilling an msr canister with straight propane. they sell refill adapters.

    • @mechoutdoors
      @mechoutdoors 6 месяцев назад

      The orifice was too small on the adapter, I bought a camping moon propane adapter, and it works "better". Don't refill the cans with pure propane unless you want a surprise.

    Is there a regulation screw on the adaptor? My adapter has a regulation screw to tweak the output, it's a stainless steel kovea one.

    For the guy with the svea: The stove is designed so that you can just put your preheat fuel on top of it and it will run down into the pan. You can entirely skip the disassembly and assembly at the start. People on youtube only do this to show how the stove functions but it is not a user step. Preheating with windshield on is faster and preheating with white gas is faster than with alcohol And to improve your svea: Remove the chain from the stove and attach it to the windscreen instead. And add some carbon felt around the burner pan

    I saw another video where they said you cannot use stainless steel with the radiant system ? I cannot find online where it says this but he said that “Fire Maple” actually said this. Any help on this would be great. Also, just debating between this and the Polaris

    • @mechoutdoors
      @mechoutdoors 6 лет назад

      I'd guess they would be the same as when I went, first of August. All depends on the rain, the summer is usually pretty good with water.

    • @jyouker2

      We had water along Davidson River, at Butter Gap Shelter, at Deep Gap Shelter, Up top at Black Balsam Knob there is a spring just off the road between the Art Loeb Trail crossing and the bathroom at the parking lot at the end of the road, and if you go down the trail toward Graveyard Fields there is a spring you cross over on a footbridge. Beyond Black Balsam, there was nothing except for a small source near the shining Rock Ledge area - but you had to drop down off the Art Loeb to get to it on the side trail - either direction will take you to water. And then once you hit the turn from the Cold Mtn Trail junction to go down to Daniel Boone, there is a stream you follow down, so water most of the way on that trail. I hiked it in July 2017, and most of the water sources listed on the AntiGravityGear Pocket Profile were dry. We cameled up in the am at Black balsam and carried 4 liters each and made it all the way to Daniel Boone and were fine. Once you get over Tenenat Mtn, heading north, the trail is not that bad - you have a small climb over grassy cove and flower knob, but then it is mostly downhill cruising from there. I drank 2.5 liters to the top of Grassy Cove, but then only a liter between there and daniel boone. It was in the 80's all day, and hit 90 on the way down to daniel boone. Hope that helps.

    I have the exact same pack with all the same add ons. I love the pack but don't like how hard it is to unzip the belt pouches. I ended up ordering a larger belt so that the pouches wrap around more towards the front. I might order some pouches from zimmerbuilt and try them. They look like it's a better zipper placement. Other than that, it's a great pack!
