😅
would be very interesting if and how they recovered - hope it went well
Ty for this info is there a way to share a photo of my lemon tree this year it's worst then ever need to know if it's far gone?
hi, after the same frost as yours, my two seville trees nearly died. There was a little growth after I cut the bad bits off, but then more die back and then I had no choice but to cut all the branches off and some dead trunk so there was only trunk and no branches, no growth after. A couple of weeks ago I throw them out the pots and bought replacements. Actually I just left them lying in the garden, out in the rain and cold, and today was gonna throw put them in the bin but I noticed there is still green sap wood near the bottom of the trunk, so I've cut more dead trunk and now each tree has around two inches of live trunk above the ground, I've now repotted them and put them back in the greenhouse. Is it possible they could bounce back or is it just dying slowly?
Should i remove the fruits of a newly purchased citrus plant?
Will this plant do well in LECA only?
Superb video. Not a single wasted second. Our kaffir lime tree will be even happier after we follow your instructions and will buy some winter food from your store as a 'thank you' for this video.
When you prune the plants...can you propagate the clippings to create a new fruit plant?
Thank you so much
I have found so much different advice about keeping my 20 year old lemon tree, given to me after a friend passed away, I now am confident that I can keep it fruiting and happy. Such a great video, thank you so much.
Hi please guide me I’m in uk can I keep it safe curry plant in grow tent ?? Winter time?
You can use a grow tent, but it's not really necessary even in the UK. A curry leaf plant will be happy in the home where it receives indirect sunlight - east facing window is perfect. Just make sure that the leaves aren't touching the glass in the cold or hot weather as this will damage them. They are usually dormant in the winter months in the UK, and so some customers do use a grow lamp, but they will put on lots of growth in the spring and summer when it will benefit from a winter citrus feed every other time you water. Hope this helps.
You need to be very careful with drying between waterings. Once in winter I skipped watering for too long (like 7-10 days) and the top of the plant just dried out and died off within a day. I was shocked to see that. This summer the entire plant nearly died because I was away for just 5 days. A stump is left. Citrus are from places like India. In fact, "Orange" is originally an Indian word. There, there are entire wet seasons with constant rainfall for months, and yet India is one of the biggest citrus producers in the world. So now I always try to err on the side of a being a bit moister.
Really helpful, thank you!
I was away my plant was not covered
excellent, thank you ive just started growing from seed lemons & oranges, this was very helpful.

How can I care for it during the winter when the temperature is low? I want to get one but I am afraid it will end up dying. Thank you
Good question, they just need to be kept bright and frost free. On a windowsill in a bright cool room would be fine. Try to position it away from any radiators or under floor heating and be careful not to over water and they should over winter fine :)
Please tell me which feed you added in water 🙏🙏
Sorry we missed this, we use winter citrus feed as it has lots of trace elements which help promote healthy green growth.
@@plants4presents995 thanks 🙏
Great video! Really well done 😊
Thank you so much for this information! I have a big lemon tree (about 1,8m tall) which was perfectly healthy and happy until this winter, in Barcelona didn't get that cold but very very windy indeed...now all the leaves have fallen off after turning brown, and the little branches are also drying, I'm desperate since this tree holds a lot of emotional value to me, and I was wondering if there's anything I can do other than prune it and change the soil...should I chop it all and leave a small piece of trunk like I've seen done with olive trees? Thanks a lot! 🙏
What a superb no frills video. After watching a number of other videos it's great to find one with all the information you need, presented brilliantly by Emily. Definitely one to add to the playlist
That same cold spell wrecked my seville orange trees that were in the greenhouse. I never thought to prune to help them recover, will do this tomorrow and hope its not too late. Thanks for the great vid.
Interesting. I read that the dieback should be left alone until new growth starts in the spring.
These are in a greenhouse so maybe that's the difference
hello i have a citrus tree it about 5 feet tall and it not flowering can you tell me why and what can i do plaese. Eddy from Montreal Canada
I am so glad to have found your channel. You do an excellent explanation on how to make Lemoncello. I also found your video on growing citrus tree excellent. Your clear and concise explanations make learning how to do something much easier. Thank you from the USA.
Interesting information about cold resistance. I watched recently a few videos about the recent deep freeze in the US, where for a few nights temps dropped down to -8C (17F). Looks like mature Meyers can survive even that, granted they are in the ground and not potted. One owner claimed his Meyer lost all the leaves in a similar freeze but recovered quite quickly. Of course, trees were protected in some way, incandescent Christmas trees and fleece. I am more inclined to clone my Meyer through air layering and plant it in the ground. Parts of Northern Ireland where I live are mostly frost-free, my main concern is wind, the ground is not soggy so I think there should be no problem with drainage.
Thanks and Happy New Year 🌟🎉🌹
Thank you for this! The recent cold spell, around -5 degrees, ravaged all of my citrus plants. Lots of leaf loss and fruit drop. Hopefully this will help.
Good information video 💞💓
So glad you found it useful. We've posted another video today about slightly more severely frost damage, please do take a look. Emily :)
For future reference, please do not record in this orientation, it's terrible to watch on a big screen with massive black bars. Other than that really great video. I have Meyer lemon and blood orange in clay pots outside. I keep Bluetooth battery soil sensors for things like that. Thankfully, in Belfast in Northern Ireland, temperatures dropped to minus two degrees for 2-3 nights and only for 3 hours. Both survived without any damage. In some places here, I believe it might be warm enough ale year-round to grow them in the ground. This was the first time in 12 years with that much frost where I live.
Thanks for the feedback and fair point, we're just getting back in to RUclips and we'll keep working on the format and editing to make them more user friendly. Glad to hear the frost wasn't too bad in Northern Ireland and that your trees survived unscathed. I was pretty out of the ordinary wasn't it? think we've only had 3 bouts of prolonged cold weather like this in Sussex since we moved here in 2004 , I agree in a sheltered spot with minimal frost like Belfast citrus can thrive outdoors all year round. I'd probably still recommend keeping them in a pot though so you can manage the drainage better, I don't know about where you are, but it doesn't feel like it's stopped raining here for weeks! Thanks again for your feedback, always welcome. Emily x

Thank you very much! Very nice explained!
Best advice and easy to understand. Many thanks🌸
Excellent. Very informative. Thank you!
I live in the SW Utah desert where from June to Sept it's over 100* F and in Winter can get into the 20* F. It's very dry and low humidity year around, plus can be very windy. I just bought an improved dwarf Meyer lemon and the soil seems to be constantly dry when I stick my finger a couple knuckles into the soil. I think the dry wind is the culprit. I don't want to water too often. I could bring it inside since I bought a growing light.
When will the curry leaf plant will be available for sale next?
