Very true
This movie is totally underrated. Had a great soundtrack. The acting was goodn i believed they were brothers. Billy bob was awesome! Drago! Drago! Drago!. Id love to see a sequel.
I think me and you are in the minority in this opinion my friend. Haha most people hate this movie as my co host did.
@@VideoWaste he needs to go back n rewatch it pay attention to the little nuances. Like when Lincoln pushed McQueens feet away. Seriously this movie is in my top 10. The fact both said was you at church without hearing one another.
@@anthonysandall8064 no arguments out of me haha. Curious though, are you saying top 10 of all time?
@@VideoWaste top 10 of movies I can rewatch n be entertained by. Imma simple man what can I say. Honestly it was the fact they used a clutch song to open up with. Its definitely not the worse movie out there. I wonder what you guys would say about down range?
@@VideoWaste definitely top 20 of all time for me though
The new 28 years might be good
Yeah maybe but I’m just over zombie movies and never loved chemical zombies. Maybe Jerry will be excited.
@VideoWaste I liked the first one a lot second was cool hopefully they do the damn thing with this one. I'm with you though on the zombie troupe is really getting played out. I love a good horror movie but they seem hard to come by these days.
I remember watching the original one with jerry and pretending the charters were Jim Carry and Chris Tucker. HAHAHA it would have me in stitches!
Hahaha that’s a great concept.
Last night I saw video reviewing one of Sarah Polley's earliest movies, a 1987 Canadian horror movie called "Blue Monkey." There were no monkeys in it, but alien slugs. Also, this hospital had like Death-Star level lasers in its basement. Maybe ya''ll want to check that one out.
I think Jerry told me about that off camera. I definitely have to check it out. Once we are done with the remake series. We will start out a list together of ones we should check out. Keep the suggestions coming
Australia says G'day. Subbed for a while, will be for life. Still catching up on older content but you guys are absolutely awesome.
Thank you for the nice comment. We appreciate you. We hope you enjoy.
@@VideoWaste Legends!! Thx for the reply. Definitely enjoying. Man, if only I ever bothered how to stream or whatever, I'd love a conversation with you guys.
I always confuse these 2.
So do I. I think I have them straight now but ask me in a year and I’ll have them mixed up again
I think the depiction of Leatherface being mentally challenged originated from the original sequels either part iii or iv, I watched a clip of one of those and Leatherface is playing with a speak and spell. Granted I didn't watch those movies through, so I could very well be missing context.
Well I think a speak and spell would make him mute but idk I watched next generation recently I need to watch the sequels again for sure.
Really didn't like it at first. It has maybe 2 good kills. The actor that played Jason was good. I don't dislike it as much nowadays but the last 2 Rambo movies and PUNISHER: Warzone; they were more like JASON than JASON.
Interesting comparison with Rambo. Elaborate for us some more on that. Fighting the cartel would make for an interesting Jason movie haha.
In Rambo 4 when he dispatches the guy on the 50 cal, that reminded me of Jason and when he takes out the leader. In Punisher: War Journal when he jumps off a building and lands on a guys head and doesnt eveb look back also reminded me of Jason. Plus they have many other great kills with the brutality that Jason had in the earlier films. Plus the director Marcus Nispell of Friday the 13th 2009 also did Pathfinder, the TCM remake, and the newest Conan and he dropped the ball on all of those! Friday (2009) is prolly his best film though. But those 2 movies gave me the gory kills I had hoped to see in a new Friday the 13th.@VideoWaste
@bloodytapes4516 I see. Yeah the gore wasn’t really there in this one. However the bear trap and the sleeping bag hanging over the fire as a trap was a great bit. I missed Rambo 4 somehow. Saw 5 though haha. I need to go back and watch it. I feel like somehow action movies get away with gore easier than horror because it’s expected in so they try to keep it to a minimum especially in the 90’s early 2000’s. As where it kinda slides past in an action movie, but that’s just my conspiracy theory haha
@@VideoWaste I think Rambo 4 is truly shocking with its level of kills, gore, and sheer brutality! Would like to see your review of it!
@@bloodytapes4516 sure. We can put it on the list after this series of remakes. Fair warning, my cohost Jerry LOVES first blood. So I would be curious to see how hard he is on it. Haha don’t quote me but i don’t think he was a big fan of 2 or 3. As where I loved them. The first holds a special place to him
For providing us with 02:15 to 2:20, 30:50 to 31:05, and 31:40 to 31:50, we all thank you!
Hahahaha you are very welcome. I think that was a big selling point to the movie so how could I leave it out of my review. I think I was a little hard on her in this one but….i stand by why she’s in it to begin with.
WELCOME!!! To Freddy 101! This movie has an awesome soundtrack if you like 90's alternative and hip hop. There is a workprint of FD floating around online that has some deleted and extended scenes replaced. The cut content looks a little rough but if you're a fan it's worth seeking out.
Awesome we will have to search those out. Do you know if they were on any dvd releases?
I am from Aberdeen, Scotland, UK, so I don't know if release dates were same world wide, but in the Odeon (Aberdeen) in 1991 my 3 friends and I were on a triple date with 3 girls fro school. We went in to see Bill & Ted's bogus journey, got very bored, very fast, and went out of the screening and went next door to peek through the door/window to watch Freddys Dead stood there for 30 mins then then a staff member came along and gave me a pair of 3d glasses! Not the best one, by a longshot, to joke ridden, with Roseanne Barr in it etc, but still very watchable, enjoyed yaphet kottos performance! Long time ago, was only 12, but still sticks in the mind.
Haha must have been decent enough to watch standing for 30 minutes. Have you watched it in its entirety since? I assume yes

Great movie
I also saw this in the theater when ut came out, was an early birthday present from my oldest sister and her at the time boyfriend. It was fun watching a Friday the 13th in the theater, and honestly I don't have much of anything bad to say about it. I remember the second or third time watching it I felt like they could've gone nastier with kills but suspected that studio exec's were pushing for an r rated movie to not act like an r rated movie. Just for the sake of voicing some kind of frustration, I remember watching a video on RUclips where people were being interviewed after seeing the remake and I was fuming over how many of the people were saying how it was wild to see Jason running, never seen that before. Fifteen year old number one fan me was flipping his shit how they weren't real fans lol
I agree. There’s not a lot to complain about with this one. It has all the trade mark Friday beats. I think could have gone bloodier but yeah the studios probably turned it down some to make sure it would see the light of day. As far as Jason running, yeah as someone who grew up watching Jason only move slowly…I kinda like seeing him hustle. It was nice. Was I shocked? A bit but I didn’t mind at all. Thanks for commenting. Thanks for watching
Freddy 3 dream warriors all the way
Yesss! I think I mention it in the dream warriors review, 3 is my favorite but I recognize 1 is “the best” haha. Thanks for watching. Thanks for commenting
Imagine telling your guest he's wrong over and over and even interrupting him about the plot that even says YOU'RE WRONG, just by reading the box. Jerry shouldn't come one anymore, he's clearly smarter than you.. "This demon chose Freddy" Literally telling you IT IS NOT ACTUALLY FREDDY.. Just admit you're wrong and end your embarrassment of a channel
lol thanks for the comment. Guest? Co host. Channel is as much his as it is mine.
@@VideoWaste Funny that's all you took out of that and you don't even treat him like a co-host
@@EmperorGuyver no, I got it. I’ve actually been working on…. but I also don’t need to explain myself to you or anyone lol. Thanks for commenting. We have a remake series coming I’m sure you’ll love.
Like I wrote in y'all's AvP vs FvJ video, this is definitely the stronger of the two. As far as early 00's horror goes this doesn't age too bad all things considered. The biggest gripe I have is they didn't bring Kane Hodder on to reprise Jason, and it's always felt like we the fans were robbed of the real matchup because of that.
I completely agree. Kane should have been Jason in this movie but the guy that played Jason did him justice. I agree this is the stronger of the two. It aged pretty well. A few words that aren’t socially acceptable anymore and a racist joke. Aside from that it aged well. Still a lot of fun to watch
The Julie kill in the hospital room was not regurgitation. It was a redo. An homage. As were many sequences on the film. The difference here between this version and the original is that I prefer this one more. The original scene is very scary, but this one is far scarier. Specially, since you see everything that’s going on now.
It’s an opinion. Redo/ regurgitation. It just depends on how you view it. We don’t view it the same. Thanks for the comment. Thanks for watching.
Kid from pet cemeteries name was gage…. Not CAGE. And you really need to go back and watch this movie again. I’m not trying to diss you or anything, but you have no idea what you’re talking about when you say this is the actual Freddy Krueger in this film. It really is not. That’s why this film is called Cravens, new nightmare and not a nightmare on Elm Street part seven. It is not Freddy. It is a demon who is taking over his likeness. And the gloves absolutely not only the poster from the first movie, but the same glove is featured on the posters for films one through five.
We say words wrong and especially names. It’s kinda our thing at this point. if it bothers you I suggest you find another page. Thanks for the comment. Thanks for watching.
@@VideoWaste you know what? That’s a fantastic idea. I will unsubscribe.
@@VideoWaste Yes that is a demon, not Fred Krueger... Don't make a RUclips channel about movies if you can't get simple things correct that's even on the back of the VHS/Dvd/Blu ray "Kinda our thing" is not a good copout
@@ShaneKixmiller thanks
@@EmperorGuyver ok thanks for stopping by to hate. Lol
It is NOT Freddy Krueger in West Craven‘s new nightmare. It is a demon that has taken on Freddy’s form. It is an evil that has been trapped within the film series and now that it is over, it is unleashed up on the world. It looks like Freddy, it sounds like Freddy and it acts like Freddy. But it is a demon. it is not actually Freddy Krueger himself.
Yes. That’s what the movie says. Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching
Correction, scream six was the one with the aged Ghostface.
Oh. Thanks
Thank you for coin the phrase, “ Freddy finger blasting”!!! LOL!!!
We don’t do scripts and run off burned out brains. We say names and words wrong often but….sometimes it makes for really inappropriate jokes that are total winners. Thanks for commenting and thanks for watching
Also, much props for defending Rob zombies Halloween! I was already subscribed, but that right there would’ve got me to click, lol. Thank you for defending that misunderstood movie.
I have to disagree on your opinion that they nailed the pedo factor in this movie. I appreciate that they included it, but they tiptoe around it too much and teased it to not be true only to find out that it actually is true. I think we all knew from the get-go that he was diddling these kids. So the factor of wondering whether or not is actually true kind of falls flat when they were built to be so. I feel like they could’ve just included this aspect in the film and not try to build up any mystery around it because of my opinion, there was no mystery to be had.it was an interesting concept, but executed completely wrong.
I feel like though it was always a 95% true fact without saying there are some people like my co host that say nahhhhh he just killed them. So them hitting it over the head and going here is the fact was a necessary thing. I always liked it tip toed around because logically yeah he diddled them but people always said “they never say that” well now that argument doesn’t hold water. Haha. The mystery part was unnecessary I suppose but the writing was weak and they had to do something lol
Jackie Earl Halle was definitely not the problem in that movie. It was the writing. But, the day before he started principal photography on the film. He watched the original in his hotel room and did not care for it at all. I would not have wanted to see him do a carbon copy for performance of what Robert had already done, but you would think that the man who they hired to replaced him would have at least seen or even liked some of the past films. This did not help his performance. But I think he could be a great Freddy with Better riding.although, the scene where he describes the human brain living for seven minutes after death was my favorite. More of that please. Also, I loved the make up redesign. I really appreciate that. He looks like a real burn victim and how it played into his performance as you mentioned.
Yes it’s angering to hear he didn’t like the original film. I would have fired him. I don’t like when they don’t have love for the material. It’s just a paycheck. Not a fan. I like the makeup like I mentioned that’s what it should look like but still not Robert so it just felt weird. He did ok but again “not my Freddy”
I snuck into this as a kid and the hype for this at the time was equivalent to the Avengers hype. Horror movies are a tougher sell than comic book action but they still took over socially in a time before the internet was a widely used thing. In a movie called Freddy Vs Jason and to get TWO fight scenes in the dream world and real world, you really couldn’t ask for more. No movie is perfect especially in this genre but dammit this hits on so many levels and will always be a favorite of mine.
Yeah I agree. I saw it in theaters too. The life guard at our pool worked at the movies. She snuck me in at close to watch it. It was a time and place. Where a lot of movies in this time were had that 2000’s ick to them. I very easily saw past that in this movie. It’s a fun watch. Like you said, what more could you want.
the dragon skeleton made no sense. in the novella the engineer makes Kirsty the keeper of the box. But in the movie the engineer is the scorpion basketcase creature that chases her down the hall. He wrote the screenplay to his own novella. None of it made sense. As for the new Hulu Hellraiser...the cenobites are somewhat closer to the book than Clive's version in Hellraiser. I think there must have been studio interfering with the original novella ending. As for it just ends with the engineer and Kirsty. I am guessing the studio/producers wanted a more cliche horror ending with the girl having the escape the cenobites. Cuz they turn on her for no reason. Also, watch Possession (1981) with Sam Neil. it came out 5 years before The Hellbound Heart was published. I am sure Clive Barker ripped off that story to write his book. Also, no way Candyman remake is better lol
There is a lot to address in your comment. Haha ok starting from the top. Yeah the ending doesn’t make sense but even with the Hollywood ending it was still a good movie especially for what it is. We will add possession to the list, thanks for the recommendation. The new Hulu remake was all around a wonderful movie. The last thing. Are you saying no way! The remake WAS better than the original. Or NO WAY was the remake better than the original. lol
@@VideoWaste yeah no way its better than the original. it is better than anything AFTER the first. I actually do not like part 2 and the garbo movies that followed. What I did like in the new Hulu one is the Cenobite designs and the details of what happens to a person when the box has been solved. the hearing of the bell, where in Clive's version it sounds as if it's part of the score, and the insane boost in ones sensitivities. What I disliked about it was that the cenobites were the main thing in it. One thing I liked that you said was how the Cenobites were not the main focus in the original, but instead an added party. Which is 100% true cuz Frank is the main villain. The poor Cenobites were put in a situation without asking for it. I like the idea of Kirsty running from Frank, a real monster. Yet, the monsters who came from nowhere are intelligent enough to hear her out and make a deal. I was hoping something like that would happen with the new one but instead its a bunch of people running from em. But I still rank it #2, while everything else after the original is in the trash can. As for Possession, it is literally Hellraiser minus the Cenobites. I hope you guys watch that next.
I saw it in theatres. as a kid, I thought it was cool. Now that I am old...movie sucks lol.
I think it had some charming qualities. I enjoyed it more than I remembered. Better than new nightmare in my opinion
The New Nightmare was a way of returning to serious dark territory because Freddy Krueger became very campy and not scary which included the highly intentional campy Freddy’s Dead The Final Nightmare.
I completely agree I thought that Freddy always had a level of camp to him because of some of the jokes and insults, but it seem to get more and more away from the scary aspect. This seems like a good attempt at getting back to it.
@@VideoWaste Also Freddy’s Dead The Final Nightmare was very similar to Batman Forever. A New Nightmare was returning Freddy to being a badass dark Horror movie antagonist even though it’s a demonic entity possessing Freddy Krueger that is in the real world.
It's the question everyone asked, and they gave us the answer to. The people I knew who are really into this genre were more satisfied with the outcome of this movie than they were of Aliens vs. Predator.
We did a double feature “vs” with these movies back in the day. Freddy vs Jason. Vs alien vs predator to see what the superior movie was. Though we never got a sequel to this movie we feel it was the winner.
It was in 3d at the Movies I was Awsome! Jesus is king
Odd second statement lol thanks for watching
This one is actually my Favorite of the series mainly because this one scared me as a child and 2 of the kills still scare me to this day.
That’s awesome. Definitely not my favorite but I’m glad it gets love. I know I’m in the minority on this one. Thanks for watching and commenting
What’s very disappointing in this Meta Nightmare sequel is the low body count because this nefarious entity has memorable creative messy kills instead of just recycling what’s been done in any of the past Freddy Krueger movies.
Freddy never had big numbers like some of the bigger fellas but they were always pretty creative.
What’s very priceless in this Horror movie universe is Robert Englund dressed as Freddy Krueger is able to get a crowd of adults and kids excited and moving their hands because its a known fact that Freddy Krueger kills teenagers that according to Law are children, and it’s implied in A Nightmare On Elm Street that Freddy Krueger is a child molester.
I think that they went further than the implication in the 2010 remake, I always thought it was odd how people love this movie series and this character but setting that aside he is a very creative monster/slasher. I mean, I wear a nightmare on Elm Street hat I have friends that have Freddy tattooed on them. I guess everybody just overlooked it because it’s a fictional character and not a real one.
@@VideoWaste It is stated Freddy is a child molester in the 2010 A Nightmare On Elm Street remake. Freddy Krueger is a fictional Horror movie antagonist so people don’t have an issue with what’s shown for 1 scene in a New Nightmare.
A New Nightmare is a very meta Horror movie set in the real world. It’s a very unique design for this dream demon that has claws from his body instead of a glove that has multiple blades attached to it.
And in the chaos, they did not announce us and our friends are dead at the end.
im not following you bud. whatcha talking about willis?
@@VideoWaste In previous videos, it closes out with an old video game "Game Over" screen stating "You and your friends are dead." This video ends in a fade to black with your exchange ongoing. I don't mean to cause any offense. Seeing you guys come up is a highlight of the early work week.
I'm one of those rare people that likes Freddy's Dead more than most of the Elm Street movies. I grew up at a time when kids would tell you the movie scene by scene and my neighbor told me scenes from this movie and then I watched it.
I also like it more than most. I think I mentioned my order starting 1,3,6 so third out of 8 isn’t bad lol I remember everyone telling scene for scene and I did it too. For whatever movie I watched. I’m still guilty of doing that now when I talk about a movie i saw to Jerry. Haha old habits I guess
I do too it is actually my favorite freddy movie
I do too it is my favorite freddy
Again, never said the movies, but back in the day, when word got out that Freddy was dead, everyone was like, "It's the end of an age, man." Then, it was, "When's he coming back?" Just like when Superman died like a year later. Just a fun side bit I heard on this one, during filming the Freddy death scene, Robert Englund's dad visited him on set. Robert attempted a subtle wave to his dad, and at the same time, one of the balloons that was the prop hand popped close to his ear, temporarily causing him to lose hearing.
Wow that is a fun bit of movie knowledge. Thanks for sharing. I don’t remember when Freddy died as far as socially but I do know it was about time and they shouldn’t have brought him back. Hahaha a little foreshadowing to the next review. As usual Orionscribe thanks for watching and thanks for commenting. We are taking this series up to the remake and then doing a remake run.
