Stephen Talbot's dad was Lyle Talbot... pretty big in the thirties acting at Warner Brothers. Always a good character actor...in the Superman serials as Lex Luther and a general in Plan 9 among other roles.

They seem like nice guys. My wife and I still watch Leave it to Beaver.

My favorite Beaver episode was when a little boy thought he had turned Beaver into a rock.

These two really were good friends years ago. You can always tell good friends because when they meet again years or decades later it is like they were apart for just a few days. That’s the vibe here. Amazing how Gilbert’s unique voice and inflections remain the same from the LITB days! Thanks for bringing these two together for this podcast. In this era of glitz and fake phoney broadcasting it’s so nice to see real journalism which doesn’t bias everything towards a small segment of our population who’ve become the squeaky wheels!

I saw Larry mondelo on the rifle man playing a mean kid

That episode of the girl Wally’s date in the bar is one of the best with great lines. The girl’s acting was brilliant. I always laugh at that one.

Wow, I’m impressed Stephen, remembering that line “She’s what they call a woman of the world”… That is my sister and my favorite line of all time!! However, we didn’t appreciate it until we were older…. We’re 64 and 65 respectively, and I still watch the reruns on Philo pretty much every day except for Sunday ☺️☺️

Wonderful footage! THANKS so much for uploading for us to enjoy! Great host & it's marvelous to see Jerry & Stephen looking so good! Seem like a great couple of fellas (warm, friendly, humble & down to earth). Stephen's dad was the prolific stage, screen & TV actor Lyle Talbot (1902-1996).

I watch Beaver just about every day you got the whole episode package and it's still on TV every morning

The child/adolescent actors on the show weren't allowed to watch themselves on the show. This helped them to not over act like they do on the the terrible Disney Channel acting. The Disney Channel shows are "joke show" like Mr Mathers mentioned. They are poorly written and poorly acted. Give me a "Leave it to Beaver" rerun anyday over the Disney crappolla.

I miss America from this era

There was no other show as good as ‘Leave it to Beaver’. * The realistic portrayal was so well done. Also the fact that it wasn’t always a static indoor set… there were many outside locations. And of course not having a ‘laugh track’ set it apart.

IN THE "TWILIGHT ZONE" EPISODE.......BEAVER WAS GIVEN A TRANSISTOR RADIO BY THE TV STATION FOR BEING ON THE TV SHOW...........WHICH WAS A BIG DEAL IN THE EARLY 1960'S. ON. L.I.T.B. THEY REFERRED TO SUCH SHOWS AS WYATT EARP , McHALES. NAVY, BEN CASEY.......& SUCH ACTORS AS. TONY CURTIS, CARY GRANT, TURSDAY WELD........& HAD DON DRYSDALE ON THE SHOW.. VINCENT DEE WAS COSTUMER/WARDROBE, JACK BARON FOR MAKEUP & FLORENCE BUSH AS HAIRDRESSER........ ON BOTH BRAVER & WAGON TRAIN. !!!

Gilbert had a lot of ideas that got The Beaver in trouble!

Stephen Talbot was on one episode of Perry Mason in 1960 and got to do his Gilbert personae line at the end of the show as a zinger to the Paul Drake character. He was the younger version of the Eddie Haskell character but seemed like he was years maturer than the other actors his age at the time.

One of the few shows that would make me laugh out loud. I love the episode where Beaver and Gilbert are sitting in the car and pretending that they're scolding the children in the back seat. So funny. And the one where Wally was supposed to take a bunch of junk to the dump for Ward but Eddie and Lumpy talk Wally out of it to save the money and just dump it on some guy's property and get caught (they lied to Wally where they were taking it for "half the price". LMAO!! Top 5 TV sitcom of all time for me.

Came to America in 1959 at 7 years old, learned how to be an American watching this show. Never missed one. Great memories.

I worked for Pacific Bell, and one particular time I received a call from someone asking for two numbers. One for a number to the Screen Actors Guild, and another for a Talbot, that lived in Sebastopol. Then the voice hit me, and I asked what his first name was(against company policy), and he said Stephen. I blurted out, “Gilbert Bates!” He just laughed and said “that’s right.” Next words out of my mouth??…. “I always hated your trouble making ass.”🤣. He just laughed and said, “then I did my job!”
