Addressing you fist complaint about Grover. By the time Percy is getting ready to go on the quest, he realizes that Graver lied and got him expelled in order to keep him safe from monsters. He isn’t mad at Grover for getting him expelled anymore because he understands it was for his own good. A friend that is willing to have you be mad at them for doing something that they know is in your own best interest is one of the most trustworthy friends you can have.

My biggest issue for soft magic is the divine chosen 💩, - “I can solve everything now bc I know how to do everything and it’s also the final conflict”. Just bc u have magic does not mean u can replace logic and strategy with a power grab treasure hunting plot armor trope.

He’s a sellout. After the second terrible film, we were holding out hope for a reboot to be made… now we have to wait 13 more years due to how disappointing this was. Sorry, but Percy is one of the few fictional heroes out there that is a TRUE hero. Hell, his own fatal flaw adds more to that being true. But unfortunately, no one is truly willing to put the same effort into adapting PJ&O that Warner Bros put into Harry Potter movies: DEDICATION. Not even with Riordan’s supervision. He’s no better than JK Rowling and how she treated her fandom. For starters, a movie would have to use what is considered a MAX runtime (2 hours, give or take) for one film, and maybe even being willing to split a film if it has too much ground to cover. Harry Potter and Hunger Games did it 🤷‍♂️ A show, would have to be on a streaming service, and have to try to focus on the details of story building (which the show didn’t do). A cartoon, would’ve been the most ideal, and honestly DreamWorks would’ve gotten both the story and humor right. The only thing I want left out from an adaptation would have to be the “Seaweed Brain”, nickname. It always felt unnatural to me, doesn’t roll off the tongue when said out loud, and it sounds ironically lame and STUPID given that a child of Athena came up with it. It also makes Annabeth seem less mature than she tries to come across. The only thing this show did, was make me appreciate the first film even MORE which seemed impossible for THIRTEEN YEARS. 🤦‍♂️

I believe that if ANY studio could get it right, it’d be DreamWorks Studios. DW is known for making lower budget shows based on their films (HTTYD, KFP, Madagascar show, etc). Despite the lack of real content those shows were, one of their shows (plural) stood out that showed DW had guts: The Tales of Arcadia series. They COOKED with that! The animation was also great, and it was almost movie quality.

I think a cartoon would’ve been better. The one and ONLY studio I feel could’ve gotten the humor JUST RIGHT, would’ve been DreamWorks. Don’t you agree?

I got a bit confused with the FMA part. Ed doesn't have a very specific difficulty so it is a soft magic system? The circle and materials are setbacks for a lot of Alchemists. Ed has other difficulties mainly his hand, necessary to complete his circle, that gets broken every 5 episodes. I don't think the anime does anything out of its rules we just get to know more and more about Alchemy. Am I missing something?

Honestly when i write a magic system, i just throw bunch of bullshit that i take from other fiction(nasuverse and dark souls for instance) until i can grasp what exactly i did. Thus i change some here and there until i get what i want(even though obviously it's not original)

I agree with a lot of this but one thing about some of the plot holes like the regret annabeth has might come up in the future series

i only read the 1st book but i was heavily disappointed with the show. it was humorless, most of the changes were unnecessary, & the heavy exposition was just an insult to the audience’s intelligence, like LET US ASSUME & SOLVE THINGS! i felt no connection w/ the characters because they were, for the most part, lackluster. i don’t have any issues with the casting, they tried their best given the poor writing. anyways, it baffles me that rick was apart of creating this and yet, it still ended up being just another milquetoast live-action adaption. hopefully season 2 will be better

This show will be lucky to get to season 4. It added to much crap that didn't need to be there and removed everything that did. In the next season when Percy finds out they need the fleece before getting to camp. It will all be ruined.

The fact that the creators thought that the Greek goddess Athena would actually lay with a black guy and degrade herself and make her daughter Annabeth, the blue eyed girl in the book a black person that’s why this failed. Skin color politics destroyed Disney.

The thing is, Harry Potter is like a very DEEP magic system. Not COMPLEX, but DEEP. There is a difference in complexity and depth. Complexitiy is basically how many rules and exceptions and everything there is in something. Depth is how many possibilites there are within that something. Case in point: Chess & Go. Both are games that really don't have a lot of rules, for chess you have 6 pieces and all their movement, checkmate, castling and en passant. Thats it. However, it is SO deep that we have yet to crack it. Even computers have not 'solved' the game. Same with Go. Literally one rule and one piece. If we compare that to, say Cluedo or even the Game of Life, or Monopoly, you can see that all these games have more COMPLEXITY than the above games. Cluedo has 3 people who could have killed, the sheet, etc etc. Game of Life has every single space as its own unqiue action(mostly, there are some that repeat) plus there are all the special places, and Monopoly has building, mortgaging, auctions, special die, chance & community chest etc. However, Cludeo, Game of Life, Monopoly, these lack in depth COMPARITIVELY. Yea there is SOME strategy, and Cluedo & Monopoly have meta strats and everything, but you can't say they are on the same level as Chess & Go. This is what Harry Potter is. A Simple system, but it is SO deep. And you can see the evidence of it being so deep purely by the fact that 1: I would say Harry Potter ties with LOTR for the most popular fantasy story. 2: As of Fanfiction, Harry Potter has THE MOST fanfiction made for. Which i think is a good indicator, seeing that a deep thought provoking story will cause someone to think and theorize and then write stories for.

For me, Hard vs Soft magic depends on 2 things. Predictibility and Repeatibility. If you do something, and the outcome of that is both predictable and repeatable (by doing the exactly the same thing again), that is a Hard Magic IMO (and vica versa) So in Harry Potter, when you swish and flick your wand and say "wingardium leviosa" and the item you are pointing at floats. That is a Hard magic. An example of Soft Magic would be Liquid Luck, again in Harry Potter. It is repeatable, but not predictable what its outcome will be. Or divination

I wasn’t initially interested in watching the show, but my brother kept insisting, so I eventually gave it a try. I have to say, the series does show potential, and I completely agree with everything you mentioned-it even reminded me of a few key points from the book. Regarding the portrayal of Annabeth in the PJS, I think the writers might have been trying to adapt Annabeth’s character to fit a Black actress, which is a common challenge in TV shows where a traditionally white character is portrayed by a Black actor. In these cases, the dialogue sometimes feels overly scripted or unnatural, as though the writers are overcompensating to avoid stereotypes. When Black actors play side characters, their roles often lack depth, with the writing relying heavily on highlighting their race instead of crafting a well-rounded character. This approach can come across as lazy, but in Annabeth’s case, being a central character puts even more pressure on the writers to strike the right balance-one that doesn’t sacrifice authenticity for the sake of appearing progressive.

thors hammer mjölnir is presented compleatly wrong in the movies. it just has a way too short handle and is extreamly heavy, so even thor needs special gloves and belt to lift it.

It feel's so off the note and i felt this had to be animated, animation would fit so much better but jesus i don't know why they had to made every single characther different. I personally enjoyed the show and look forward to season 2. I didn't like the changes to Sally though, and hated that scene with her and the much younger Percy in the car, that was so unnecessary. Most of the changes aren't bad though. At least it's faithful to the main plot points and did the majority of them well. I thought Annabeth was a bit too bossy and annoying though, from what I can remember, it's more so than she was in the book. Hopefully the flaws of the first season can be fixed for the second.
