First saw Genesis in the summer of 1982. Was blown away by Phil and Chester’s playing and Phil’s singing especially of Supper’s Ready. Since then I’ve seen Genesis live two more times and Phil solo tours twice back in the 90’s. He was such an amazing drummer. His early Genesis drumming (Selling England By The Pound, A Trick of the Tail, Wind & Wuthering, And Then There Were Three) nothing short of genius. And their live concerts in the 80’s heyday were truly terrific. So sad he can’t drum anymore but so happy he’s still around. I wish the man a happy retirement and thank him for the ultimate joy he’s brought me through the years.
