I've been shooting my entire life and I'm here to share some of my knowledge of long range shooting, extreme long range shooting, ballistics and firearms in general. I like to do gear reviews, optics reviews, rifle reviews and experiment with different cartridges through testing and pushing their limitations. Testing out the Arken Zulus beyond 1 mile in the dark. The target is 24"x24". The rifle platform is a custom 6mm ARC with barns 112 match burner handload. So you had about a 75% moon.. pretty sweet.
Roughly yes :) it was really nice not needing the IR.
I can dig it
☺️
Do you know if they (Arken or DNT) fixed that kill box issue?
I don't want to give you the wrong info. I know the firmware was updated/upgraded when DNT took over. The one that I bought was in the first iteration to hit the states so I'm unable to switch to DNT firmware. I can't say for 100% certainty but I've heard that it has been. I'll be buying another in the near future and run a side by side.
Have you tested it with the ballistic calculator (not that you need to)? You think there'll be any drop in quality with the move to DNT? Thanks
I haven't tested the lrf version yet. But will soon. These things are sweet so I do plan on getting a couple more. As for quality switching to DNT... to my understanding it's the same optic, same chip(Sony starvis 2) with upgraded firmware.

I have the DO 5-30x56 GenII and use it on my Ruger RPR 338LM. Fantastic optic.
💯 Agree! I've been nothing but impressed with these optics!
Max Point Blank Zero with a .308? I had my Zulus on my Wrath Crossbow and just took it off to put it on my .308... What is the easiest way to get it on paper so I can make sight corrections... I didn't have any problems with my crossbow, but I tried for about 10 minutes today to get it on paper and then I was interrupted, so I haven't got there yet. Tomorrow is a new day, just wonder if you have any suggestions for this tech limited old guy? 😁
I'd start close like 25 yards zero there and then move back to your mpbr. I'd imagine going from your crossbow it's quite an elevation difference. So big target start close then move back to your mpbr.
@@TriamLLC Cheers! Love your Zulus vids! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked them :)
@@TriamLLC ~ Had 45 minutes free today and finally got the Zulus Zeroed. Mine has the LRF and Ballistic Calculation, so when I get time I look forward to seeing what it can do. My 35 MOA Scope Base will be here by this weekend, but going Duck and Crane hunting this weekend, so it will have to wait just a bit longer... 😁 Thanks Again!
@BirdDogUNIVERSITY Very Nice! I'd love to know how it does for you!
Im waiting for my discovery GenII to be delivered it's only a couple days away and i cant wait
I'd love to hear your thoughts on it after you get it! I absolutely love mine!
Very impressive shot. It's that with the 0 moa mount?
Thanks, and yes it was the zero moa mount plus a 20 moa rail with 19 mils in the zero. I did a video of how I set it up on the channel if you want to check it out.
What caliber you shooting
6mm arc
5.56?
Yes indeed
Fantastic review Triam, It looks like it could handle .308 recoil with no issues.
Thank you :) .308 should be no problem. I know they've (DNT and Arken) done testing with it up to 50 bmg. The eye relief would be the only concern with a digital you're pretty close to the optic.
I wish I could afford the one with the range finder on it.
They just dropped in price on Amazon by 100 bucks if that helps.amzn.to/4dmZ8OJ

Very nice!
Sweet scope, would love to mount one on an AR10.
I'm really liking mine :)
How long does the battery last for day use? My use for this would be multifunctional, but mostly day use. So i can keep my rifles ready for day/night without having to ever change anything.
It depends on what features you are using. When running the ir illuminator the battery drains faster also brightness setting has an effect. That said I'll normally have around 3/4 to half charge after a range day when I get home. Each unit comes with 2 batteries and an external charger as well as ability to charge through the unit itself. A charge is definitely going to give you a few hours of run time on each battery. I hope that helps. Maybe I'll make a video just to check battery run time soon.
@@TriamLLC Thanks! I might have to pick some of these up then. I was worried about batteries dying too quick. Iv heard nothing but good things about these. But no one likes to talk about battery life lol.
@EatingTheDawgs As I recall @rugergundog did a battery test on them a few months ago on his channel. I think it was him but not 100% positive.
@@TriamLLC Ill check it out! Thanks!
I just ordered one (my second zulus actually) There were only 5 left on the Amazon store. Funny thing is if you go to the website the are asking $665.99 on sale from $899.99
Awesome! I'm glad I posted this when I did! Hopefully a few others can get one before they are gone.
Crazy how affordable NV is now!
Outstanding
Exciting stuff!
The CA with the Arken is crazy. I have the SH4 G2 6-24 and haven't seen that much CA with it.
I think a lot of it might be the recording. I also have a couple sh4 g2. Maybe I'll do a side by side of those two soon.
Thanks for the vid sir. Been looking at this for a while. I think you sold me on it.
I'm really liking mine so far. It's very easy to configure to exactly what suits your specific needs. Thanks for checking out the video!
I like your choice of name for your ballistic dummy. We have a real dummy in California named Gavin. Please pump a few extra into him for us Cali folks!
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Perfect!
Okay, what the heck you shooting at besides air and calling impact.
Thought the flashing red light might give it away 🤔
❤❤❤
☺️
Is that butt pad stable up that high ??
Hey Kevin, yes it's really stable and a ton more comfortable with the optic up that high.
3000 yds with an ar15 really
ruclips.net/video/LvE0QhTIhl0/видео.htmlsi=_N9loc8gYSdK1sVR This was the first experiment with it. In the video I play the raw 5 shot string. Recording is through a digital optic w/time and date stamp. Somebody has to try new things.
You better get one for your MIL, she won’t be happy if you don’t. 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've got 2 . 1 with the bag rider, 1 without.
I'm really liking it so far! What are you running it on? I'm thinking about getting a couple more.
I would rather eat canned food for view mounts and shoot that distance with Swarovski or Nightforce then make my eyes tired after viewing minutes of looking through that thing. Maybe air guns distance but arken is milky and discovery glass is just dark. Just an opinion. Arken is getting wet in the rain The discovery is so stiff.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. Have you shot with either EP5 or ED prs 5-25? Just curious?
Great video. Have you tried the 36yrd zero with a 308, If so what was your KL box adjustment after zero?
Honestly I haven't played with it on .308 yet so I can't speak to that. Glad you liked the video. If you do try it out, I'd love to hear your results!
Comparing Discovery 5x25x56 with Primary Arms SLx 5x25x56 What you guys think ???
That would make a great video!
@@TriamLLC I am bit confused about both of these V/S arken ...i saw somewhere Arken has issue with Turrent knobs becoming loose... Well, to hear from someone..
@SammyGill I have 5 EP-5's haven't had an issue. But that said I've heard others say that as well. Lots of guys are saying a drop of vibrat-tite fixes the problem.
Such an interesting piece of equipment! Human ingenuity never ceases to amaze me
Agreed! It's pretty awesome to see how far things have come in the last few years.
6arc at over 3000 yards? Good luck seeing impacts 🤣
You can see it really well... it's in this video at 9 minutes and 35 seconds. 😂😂😂😂 Thanks 😉
Been looking at one of these think I'm going to get one
You're gonna love it!
Same here, think I am leaning towards DNT Optics, either zulus or their thermnight.
This will allow you to dial in with the zulus ....😮
Hey Kevin! Yes it's freaking awesome! It does make everything sit high, but yes gives you the ability to dial with a digital optic :)
Is the zero stop floating? Can you move it to a desired location on the dial .
It's a hard zero at bottom and you can't change that, but if you zero the optic you don't have to touch the turrets again, just dial on the mount.
Arken looking better each day i really like this reticle ill have to pick one up
I really liked it after using it. It's fast and effective.
I have several of their scopes. I've been nothing but impressed. I have a 14.5 ar and the reticle is spot on out to a 8" target at 450 yards. Haven't had a chance to stretch it out further yet.
@@jasonmorris159 Arken has been a game changer for sure!
I'm glad someone likes it because it looks like absolute ass to me 😂 I'm hoping they release another Reticle for it so I can put it on my spare upper
Made up my mind and im ordering 2-3 of these 😂
I think you'll really like them!
I am considering getting this. Though i wont be shooting nowhere near that far.
It's a fantastic optic! I think you'll love it!
@@TriamLLC These seem like they would work really well with a z-bolt kit. And work well in stationary or sentry situations for night capabilities while still maintaining day time functionality. Toss in a budget friendly thermal just for spotting and that seems like a pretty sweet set up without the need for a full helmet set up at all. Pretty useful set up for extra rifles laying around or dedicated force multiplier rifles on a budget to give to family in a shtf situation. I was looking at the holosun nv for this application. But the zulus is looking like the better, and cheaper option. Any thoughts?
@EatingTheDawgs I think you're spot on... not sure if you have seen it or not, but DNT also has the ThermNight which is both NV and thermal. Might want to take a look at that model as well. Unfortunately I have yet to review it. Hopefully soon.
@@TriamLLC I saw something about that earlier. Thank you for mentioning it, ill take a look at that as well. Hopefully you can get a review on it! Thanks for the comments!
@@JustEnterAName Thanks for checking out the channel :)
So, are you zeroed at 300?
It's a 36 yard zero... gives the same hold "roughly" at 300.
@@TriamLLC gotchya. What caliber?
@@harveymanfrantinsingin7373 5.56
@@TriamLLC ok. I figured as much, but you know how that goes. Lol
Great vid. Just bought the 1-8. I would have thought that a 36yd zero would mess up the boxes. Do understand why this doesn’t happen??
It does change it a bit... but it's negligible from what I found. What I like about it is same hold from 0-300 and the boxes still work enough to be within the torso.
I'm going to get both of them
I think you'll like them! Both are excellent scopes!
how would you compare them now?
That was a good review Sir. Thank you
Thanks Brandon and thanks for checking out the channel!
