Why Volunteer at Unity Hospice | Volunteer Opportunities
When you volunteer at Unity, expect nothing less than the satisfying feeling you get when you make a real difference in someone’s life. You’ll also find purpose and meaning. We were founded by volunteers more than 46 years ago and volunteer services continue to be at the heart of our patient-centered mission. We’re grateful for our wonderful, selfless volunteers but we can always use more like them.

It’s Veterans Day! Take this day to reflect and remember that freedom is not free! Join us in celebrating the service and sacrifice of Unity staff and volunteers who have served in the military, as well as the profound way in which they continue to serve others through their role at Unity. Thank you Veterans! You are each a beacon of light in the lives of those you serve.

Unity Care Companions Can Help | Unity Hospice
Because a Chaplin is a scam.
Green Bay and the surrounding communities are fortunate to have such a wonderful Hospice facility to care for their terminally ill loved ones. And what a blessing it is to have Dr. Amy James on staff there. I can’t say enough about this organization and how they meet the needs of the patient and their family at such a difficult time.
Such an amazing program. Thank you all for everything you do!
❤
I’m 27 years old. I see that a lot of chaplins are older. Is there a reason for this in terms of needing lengthy education or great experience? Or is it just usually a career that older people want? I am looking for a career that combines my passion for spirituality and counciling and this seems to be it
Start with your local fire department and see if they need a chaplain those are all volunteers then that's how you get your foot in the door
Is there a reason for this in terms of needing lengthy education or great experience? - The education requirements are high. Minimums are typically a Master of Divinity (2 to 5 years to complete), 3 to 6 units of CPE (1 to 2 years to complete), and 2 years of full-time (paid or volunteer) ministry experience. You also have to be licensed and endorsed by a religious organization and requirements are widely varied depending on faith group and denomination. Is it just usually a career that older people want? - Honestly yes. Few young people choose to answer a call to ministry early on in life. It also requires a great deal of maturity. Becoming a Chaplain is a calling, it's not lucrative, it's difficult to do, it takes a long time, and the pay honestly low given the educational and professional requirements.
Being a volunteer for Unity for about 5 years now, I can honestly say that it has been the most rewarding volunteer experience in my life and I have volunteered for many different organizations for the last 35 years. The patients are showered with love, compassion, warmth and geniune tenderness from all. Always! Neverending!!. Leaving there after putting in my hours that day, I go away thanking God for His guidance as we do his work. Not to mention thanking Him for allowing me to be strong and healthy enough to spread my love to others!!!! I love how they treat all they serve and especially honoring our wonderful Veterans that have served this beautiful country we live in.
What do you guys exactly do?
I knew he didn't blow himself up!
I love making a difference in our community and in patient and family lives, that's why it is an honor and privilege to work for Unity Hospice!

Outstanding (your work is a labor of love) and the video is pretty cool, too! Thanks for all you do... you cared for my mom for just a short time, but I've seen your work and heard such good things about your care, for so many years, from the families we've served at our funeral home in Pulaski.
What an awesome video, great job!!
