I was wondering what hot water recirc pump you used in this video. Can you plug this pump into a 24 hr timer to control when the recirculation is active or idle. My Watts unit just failed (bearings) so Im looking to replace it with something less expensive.

Do you leave the heat trap installed or does it have to be removed before installation of the pump?
OMG, no line sizing for BTU load, no comment on low pressure regulator outlet, improperly buried supply line, This video could give any amateur really bad overly simplistic ideas. Stay away from this video.

If I understand the mechanics correctly, without a dedicated return line, when the water recirculates back through the cold line, we are then drinking water that has been run through the hot water tank? I have always understood that due the use of decaying aluminum anode rods, water from the hot water tank should not be used for drinking or cooking. Is this safe?
And wont the cold water always be hot as well?
@@irrelevant6845 Yes! I installed this system. Now instead of waiting for hot water at the sink, I'm waiting for cold water because this type of system send the hot water back through the cold waterline. I am looking to insta a dedicated hot water return line, only in the hot water pipe. I'll be ditching that manifold under the sink.

water heaters should never be connected to the piping direct, there should be a piece of flexible pipe between the tank and the solid pipe.
False, that's against plumbing code in majority of states.
@@lanceperley3144 better read the directions on the water heaters that's probably why most plumbing shops sell all those 3/4 and inch braided steel flex lines..
@@olddave4833 better read in fine print where it instructs you to install per local ordinances and codes....
@@lanceperley3144 here we have to use flex line for the connection and as two years ago, we need a permit to replace or install a new heater, gas, ele or oil.
