I saw a similar situation where the employee had a cement work business on the side. The regular employer wanted to have him do it for his normal hourly wage at the jobsite. This might have been okay if it was using the employer's equipment, but the employee was expected to use the equipment the employee was making loan payments on and his business connections for cheaper materials bought in bulk, for no additional money. If I recall correctly, he was supposed to do it after hours during his normal time off - the time in which he could be doing concrete work for other people for significantly more money. He ended up doing the work under the boss's conditions because he was afraid he'd lose his main job. I don't know the final outcome, but I hope his concrete business grew to the point he could quit.

It always intrigues me how different regions across the US have different ways of speaking. At least up here in Massachusetts anyway, we don’t say “Come see _what all_ you can fix” and instead drop the “all” - “Come see what you can fix”. Down south I’ve heard people say “Whenever it was my birthday” or “Whenever I started first grade” to describe a specific time something occurred. “Whenever” being interchangeable with plain old “when” as if “whenever” doesn’t imply vagueness. Up here when we say “whenever” we’re using it to describe a vague window of time and not definitive.

At that point I'll buy my own pressure washer
