These Focus ST calipers were painted on the car.... badly.
A selection of brake calipers we have painted over the last couple of months

Our brake caliper painting service is unique in the UK (I think) unlike every other company out there we take the calipers off the car, sandblast them back to bare metal ready for painting in the colour of your choice. Once done they are rebuilt, refitted and pressure bled. You'll find companies that paint them on the car and companies that you post them to. But we're the only company offering ...

You don't need crazy thick snow foam!

You don't need crazy thick snow foam! It might look cool but you only need it to cling for a couple of minutes. Making the foam thicker or using more of it achieves nothing, costs more and creates a lot more hydrocarbons that can damage the environment. Mix it and adjust your foam lance so that there is some slip on the foam.
Range Rover deployable steps - turning them off and keeping them deployed.

If you're anything like me I can never remember how to turn the deployable steps off. You need to do it if you're lifting a Range Rover on a scissor lift or lifting the car on a jack. The step brackets become the lifting points. I'll show you how to turn the steps off so they don't deploy - and turn them back on - and I'll show you how to keep them permanently deployed. One thing that I don't t...

Using a Sealey Pressure Brake Bleeding system. Hydraulic fluid bleeding.
Просмотров 1012 года назад
This is one of the most useful bits of kit we have in the workshop. It allows effective one man brake bleeding and brake fluid change. It can take about 5L of brake fluid which is pressurised through a separate bladder forcing fluid into the hydraulic system of the car. The kit comes with a bunch of adapters for different reservoirs and can be used in n clutches too. You can buy cheap ones on e...

Jaguar XK8 Brake Caliper Painted

These calipers had been painted on the car by a well-known company that shall remain nameless! They were pretty poor to be fair and this video will take you through the process we use to transform them into something you can be proud of.

This guy didnt tape off the actual pistons…..dafaq
it chages clour on alram
Useful reminder. Now I'm hoping for someone to demonstrate how to lubricate the mechanism.
I think I would deploy the steps and use a spray on lithium grease on the pivot points. Then open and close a few times to spread it out. There aren't any grease nipples or anything of that nature. You could use Ceratek grease too - the modern stuff for brakes instead of copper grease.
Thinking on doing this with my brake discs and rotors, they're rusted. After polishing them with a glassbead blast, is it a good idea?
I don't think I would do this to rotors, the surface left over is quite coarse. When I do calipers I paint the hubs at the same time - but I use a brush and 2 pack polyeurethane paint straight on to the metal. Prep it with a wire brush and/or scotch pad, do the same with the disc edge, then clean with brake cleaner and allow to dry. 2 pack poly leaves a really nice finish when brushed on, I use a satin black and it just disappears once the wheels are back on. It doesn't stand out but it is clean and durable. It will see the discs out!
It’s actually cool but it flash amber lights in ambient lighting. It would be cool
I like the fact it flashes red and blue like Police lights. The ambient lighting in the C238 is on another level.
@@perauto I like it too but if it blinks fast it would look like police siren
@@rangeroverguyxbmwgirlit only does it when the alarm goes off lol
@@Oooh_Shiny_Things I know
been looking at this for a while gota slash out on the air compressor and kit any recommendations ?
Buy the best you can afford, especially for the compressor, it makes a big difference. I've upgraded to a pressure cabinet now rather than a suction feed and ot is so much better. I'm running an ABAC Genesis 1108 compressor on 1/2" supply.
this the same on all newer mercs, mines an a200 2019

Dang that's good so you left the cilynders and the dust cover there? No masking at all? I was just thinking of doing that but wasn't sure it would work well for the brakes
It doesn't hurt the rubber because the grit bounces off, it only really works of hard surfaces. The other advantage is there is no chance of getting grit/dust in the oil galleries. I leave the bleed nipple in - I always replace them once painted - and use an old one in the inlet for the hydraulic fluid. I have a range of machine screws that fit most hose connections if they aren't 10x1mm thread.
@@perauto that's what I thought. Plugged inside and filled with paper than masked. Mask came off. Technically it is still good but I didn't like it. Will leave the cilynders there and booth. Appreciate the help brother. Will refer to your video on my video 👍
sand or glass?
I think this was J Blast.
What type of media has been used?
Iron silicate/J Blast.
What type of media? How much psi?
Nevermind. Someone already asked 😀
Lol
Is the sandblast media kleenex blast grade 30/60 ?
It's a medium J Blast, not sure how that would compare. It's Iron silicate.
Can you really just blast away around the rubber seals like that!? I've already cleaned and masked my calipers on the inside in order to provide some basic protection around the pistons, but the paint job won't look very nice with all that tape on the inside.
Yes, it doesn't damage them. Done hundreds now with no issues. It would be more of an issue blasting with the piston bores open. Why won't the paint job look very nice with the dust cover and piston masked off?
Is it necessary to paint them after sanding? Can you leave them like this or will they rapidly rust?
You'll want to paint them, they will rust, unless they are cast aluminium which won't rust but they will stain.
@@perauto Thank you for your answer!
What media are u using and what psi you at ?
I think that was a medium J blast - iron silicate. Pressure would have been 6 bar ish. We have a new cabinet now, pressure cabinet, and I haven't used this one gor a while.
Once sandblasted, can I start painting or is there other prep work needed before that? Thanks!
You'll want to clean them really well, we use brake cleaner and let it evaporate. Then mask anything you dont want to paint. Once that is done you're good to go.
@@perauto I purchased remanufactured brake calipers from a store and I'm trying to paint them. So, do I need to sand them down with sandpaper and perhaps a wire wheel or do they already come sandblasted?? Thanks
@@Zeberka767 they will probably be dipped. I would use a scotch pad to key the surface and paint onto that. Read the instructions for the paint you have chosen and follow those though!
Love the video
