Ooof no. As someone with the same surname AND from Singapore (where his grandpa came from)... it's pronounced similarly to how you would vocalise "mm" when thinking, except it's "nn" sound. There are no vowel sounds in this surname, pure consonants. Another way to help with the pronunciation is saying any word that starts with "n" but stop immediately after the consonant sound. E.g. Call an art store to order paint and they'll say Fay Low when the read it back. It's funny like that. Buuttt if that's the true pronunciation then you would be correct.
