Today is my first day at college and I just found out that they don't go with roommates rule. There's only one person rooms. So basically I'm f**ked. It's a completely new City away from my family and I'm bad at making friends. I'm always alone but this feels so different. [Edit]---------------------------- So, I wrote this review 4months ago. After that I got a couple of friends and joined the sport teams. I joined the badminton club where I met my best friend. We hang out together a lot. I said it's single bedrooms but I go to his room almost everyday and we watched horror films at night. We go out and explored the town and went to the theme parks. We went to the water park with all the other friends and we even went skating. We danced at the prom and walked runway show together. We almost made a film with all the other students from different majors. I already wrote the script but we decided to move it to next semester. Now, I'm back at my home waiting for the 2nd semester to begin. So, what I want to say is, don't give up, things get better.

This is a great video! I went to college in Ireland did an undergrad and masters. The loneliness in college is definitely not something that I think many people are prepared for. At least here college and university life is portrayed a certain way and if you haven’t had that experience it can make many people feel like they missed out on many things. Despite everything I graduated with a first class honours in my masters degree, but my college experience overall was one of the loneliest experiences. First I’m visually impaired and my parents and I had to fight for everything I needed the whole time throughout my studies. I was also mostly ignored by classmates, and despite joining clubs and societies it didn’t help much, and in any case i was so busy trying to get all my essays, assignments and thesis done that I simply didn’t have time to join everything. And from my experiences people in college may not be as welcoming or friendly as we hope they are. That was more or less my experience and it seems to be getting a lot more common nowadays.

I just got booted last night. We should collab about the experiences, if you're down. ESPECIALLY "omg uncomfortable this uncomfortable that".

Thank you for posting this! Even seeing a. video like this makes you feel less alone since others are experiencing the same thing. Ever since COVID hit in 2020 during my senior year of high school, I've had this overwhelming feeling of loneliness that I can't seem to shake. Even though I've made many new friends, not at college but outside of it, and the pandemic is basically over, it still stuck around. Sometimes, it's hard to not want to retreat to the past when it didn't use to feel like this.

Loneliness happens to me with autism I chose to try my best to be happy when really I’m down or try to make connections when I really have none. And trying to get a girlfriend when I know I may not get one I’m college. This isn’t a drama comment many people say the same thing welcome to college aka adult schooling

i just took admission in college, moved to a new city, actually i moved quite early as i wasn't sure about the dates. college hasn't started yet and i am stuck in my room all the time. i am feeling very lonely, missing my parents, my home, my hometown. yeah, it's a big city, i can do lot of fun things here and all, i even tried travelling around for sometime, it wasn't fun at all. i just wish i get some good friends in college

Oh man , I was so lonely last year , freshman year , man. I didnt know anyone , of course and my roomate was good but we didnt talk like you . He was more outgoing and seemed to be always planning something with someone. We were good and he was respectful but we didnt see each other that much. I kinda avoided our room a lot.I just wasnt part of everything. I wish I found someone like myself .. but I love being here at college , just because I didnt think Id ever make it here. I'm good in classes with kids and in the library and stuff ; its just at the dorm ai feel awkward. I just love knowing I am a college guy. Yes I think always about the end game as why Im here but I see the others enjoying this time. Oh man I wish I had someone like you as you roomate ; not that Id be a pain , just Id feel like you wouldn't judge me ; not that my roomate does , I dont think.I dont know how I got here but thanks.

I don't think anybody really tells you that college won't be you gone at school, 8 AM-4 PM, Monday through Friday. It's maybe 1 class a week if you're lucky, and then that's it. Granted, you have enough work to last you from 8 AM-4 PM, Monday through Friday, but you still have 1 class a week. If I were told that, maybe I would have adjusted to college life a lot earlier on.

I'm an ee major and did an internship last year for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. My job was basically civil engineering stuff even though I was an ee. On my first day, I met a civil engineer who was a direct hire and was a GS-13, which pays 6 figures. I'd look into it!

Even if you don't love love your major. No one NO ONE can ever take away your education, and you can use your knowledge to get where you want to be. You invested 4 years in yourself: there will be a return whether you like it or not! You will always harvest what you plant!

My take from CS is that you have to already love it before even thinking about the money. I've known many people who went into CS for the money only to realize they could not handle it. It's not a major that you can luckily slip in and crawl to the end (I think so?). Also, have you seen what CS interviews are like? imagine competing against 1000s of those CS nerds that have been coding since they were 12... with more experience, you can apply for jobs working for the city like the Link Rail and that will net you a big raise, probably 6 figures.
