Windmills of Palm Springs, California
In the arid expanse of the Coachella Valley, where the desert meets the horizon in a shimmering dance of heat, there lies a town known as Palm Springs. Famous for its pristine golf courses, luxurious spas, and mid-century modern architecture, it is also home to a lesser-known marvel: the windmills.
Rising like sentinels against the clear blue sky, the windmills of Palm Springs have become an iconic symbol of the region. They stand in rows, their tall, white towers crowned with three-bladed rotors that catch the relentless desert winds. These windmills are more than just a striking visual; they are the silent warriors in the battle for sustainable energy, harnessing the power of the wind to...

First--thanks very much for making this video, and for documenting this site. Your drone video is excellent. Also, I absolutely love reading the comments by folks who had a personal connection to Eagle Mountain. That said, PLEASE stop using that goofy computer generated voice to read out the text of your narration. Computer generated speech is definitely easier when you produce content, but let's face it--it sucks.

The waterslides were purchased from Family Fun Center that was located in La Mesa but FFC closed down because the state put in the 125 freeway which was located in their exact spot. The go-cart oval track was one of the fastest and most fun at it's time. The track still stands today.

Liked the video. Music needs to recede, it’s a bit intrusive and isn’t uh dessert music for lack of a better description. Narrative is nice. Images need to follow narrative closer. For example when talking about cabin where he retired show the cabin not another drone shot of the garage. Take these criticisms lightly- overall a very informative and enjoyable video. Look forward to more.

I was working on a job in the mine there in 1992 drilling water monitor wells. At the time, Riverside County was looking at turning the mine into a landfill. The town was abandoned then and our contact told us to pick out one of the furnished houses to stay in. We drove down to Desert Center for groceries and beer. I remember I had trouble sleeping at night because of the noise from the prison.

This a great video. I love the music and the comments. Well done ! My thoughts are that the family may have been involved in some sort of drug dealing and they pissed maybe a supplier or even the cartel and feared for their lives and just took off. There was no time to properly move so they took what they could grab and the kids and never looked back.

I would work out there on radio equipment for the old fire dept. and prison back in the 90's and it was fascinating to drive around the neighborhood. The houses were in good shape and not picked apart like they looked in this video. Some still had occupants. Worked with a guy who worked and lived there is the 70s and he made a lot of money. It is rumored that Lithium will be mined there soon and this town may re open.

My grandfather Bing Lane was the mine superintendent in the early 1900s. My mom and her brother and sisters all grew up at the mine and she always said it was a crazy place to grow up! In the summer months they moved all the beds to the screened patio that surrounded the house and would wet sheets and hang them up near the screens so it would cool the air enough for them to sleep! Life was tough back then!
