Here’s a video to hear what the KZN165R 2003 Toyota Hilux SR5 or 1kzte engine sounds like with a non-stock exhaust This exhaust Is straight piped after the catalytic converter. Not too noisy in the cabin when you’re on the highway, very happy with the exhaust. Apologies parts of it are in portrait! Whoops. Still learning. We followed the 11 day plan from Bikepacking.com The Hunt 1000 up until Dargo where we then rode to Bairnsdale and caught the train to Melbourne. This video shows a lot of the amazing scenery, tells the story of our ride and lists the gear that I brought. Our stops: Day 1: Canberra to Cooinbill Hut (119km) Day 2: Cooinbill Hut to Derschko’s Hut (82km) Day 3: Derschko’s Hut to Dogman Hut (93km) ...
Make a Nalgene bottle holder for your gravel bike

Steps on how to make a Nalgene water bottle holder for your bike. There are many options out there if you want to buy a holder for your Nalgene bottle but they can tend to be expensive. This one can be made with some metal offcuts and a $3 rubber ski strap. A Nalgene bottle is great to have on a bike as it holds 1L as opposed to the typical 700ml in bike specific bottles. Did you remove catalytic converter or not ?
Nope, there’s still a little one on this exhaust
6:22 love the editing choice here 😂
1kz? why Prados with the same engine don't make that pigeon sound when you let go the gas pedal?
Not quite sure on that one sorry /: Haven’t been in an old prado. Maybe they have different turbo set ups ?
How did you know what set the spindle speed to on the controller?
@@tammympearce I spoke to someone who has CNC experience and he said it’s best to run these desktop CNC’s at their max speeds.
Trip of a lifetime, I’m sure it left you hungry for more. I recently did the overland trek, one thing that helped us with the pains of these treks were Panadol and anti inflammatory pills. Really helped especially on those final days. Another medicine I take but only when I’m riding is some magnesium tablets, they can reduce cramps. Awesome video though mate, inspiring me to go out and do this - combine my love of hiking and riding, bikepacking is something I would love to do.
Absolutely ! Can’t wait for the next trip :) Will pack some magnesium next time for sure. Agreed, great to get out and in nature !
What width tyres? Not tubeless?
45c Just ran tubes!
Great vid. Were you both running tubes? How big were the punctures? Intending to ride Melbourne to Sydney with a hunt variation to Canberra to start, setting off end of feb with a fortnight to cover the distance
@@peregrinedunn7217 Yep just ran tubes to keep it simple. Punctures were small, just used a small patch on them. You’re gonna have a great time ! Was an incredible ride :)
@masonfrench2 thanks for the info, was concerned you’d had some gnarly rips!
Thanks man I love this kind of content. Some stuff is definitely worth spending big bucks on but I just love a deal haha
@@YOLOSWAG420EZ Cheers ! Couldn’t agree more.
Great video - nice laid back style
How much do u pay for rent?
Decent review here bro, nice to see someone not trying to endorse people spending their live savings on brand names to still sleep uncomfortably after riding 100’s of Ks.
Thanks mate. That’s it, I wanted to try bikepacking for the first time & didn’t have much money to spend on all the accessories. Especially after buying the bike !
@ it’s not a cheap hobby if you wana go bells and whistles that’s for sure. 2 wheels and 2 minute noodles is all you need 😂
Music on low in the background 😊 top marks 👍
Nice - what bike is that?

Great video! What an epic ride, brilliant work chaps!
So good...!!!
Epic trip lads!
That is awesome. What an adventure!
Great ride. Killer hills with 25kgs on the bike. Did you post your ride map somewhere?
Our GPS tracking had a few problems :/ . You can download the GPX file from bikepacking.com when you look up The Hunt. That’s the route we followed until it got to Dargo.
So sick cheers for vlogging it. What was it like on your mental state? would've been pretty full on doing that many ks for 7 days straight
@@hypehoops Spirits stayed quite high overall. I think the good weather and abundance of food definitely helped with that. As well as motivating each other First day was tough but after day 2 there was no turning back. And yeah, the first 4 days were pretty full on but we just made sure to keep ourselves moving. After that it mellowed out as there were cafes, more pavement and smoother roads. It was a very rewarding feeling to have completed it.
@@masonfrench2 nice job man.
Well done, boys. Nice adventure.
Why take the drone, I didn’t see any shots
The first 12 seconds of the video were shot on the drone ! Also shot some vertical content for instagram reels which wasn’t posted here. Tried to film as much as I could with the limited battery.
What sort of training did you do to get through this? Are you roadies or MTB or gravel guys?
Well, not much to be honest. I used to be a mountain biker but stopped a few years ago. Pretty much bought the gravel bike a couple months ago, did 4 practise rides around 80-90km, some road, some gravel. Had some major cramps on the first training ride but they never returned after. My friend Simon rides about 5 km to work each day. I also rode to work a handful of times (20km each way). So there was an element of risk of whether we’d make it or not, having never done any consecutive riding days.
Nice vid gents, Munda Biddi next?
@@MDSTFT For sure, or would love to bikepack through Tas.
Looks like a great trip. I flew out to attempt the Hunt last year but had to pull out due to an inflamed knee. The weather here looks much more ideal lol
@@chrisschuehle8138 Ah that’s devastating. My friend Simon was lucky that his knee didn’t flare up on the ride like it did in some of our practise rides. Yeh, we really lucked out with the weather. The rain the guys experienced during the actual Hunt this year looked insane.
Nice video, tell me, if you were to do it again, would you change anything on your setup ?
Was actually very happy with the setup. We tried to be as minimal as possible which helped reduce the weight. Next time I would just buy metal bottle holders because my plastic ones snapped. I would make sure we each carry a pump and have one that mounts to the side of a bottle holder. Only other thing i’m considering changing would be to get a custom frame bag that takes up the whole section between the top tube and the down tube, one that has storage and a water bladder with a hose to drink from.
@masonfrench6189 sounds sensible. It looks like it was pretty hot and water resupply was sparse. Nice work 👍
EPIC!
Nice video.
Get it done lads!
did you make a non-timelapse of the 2016 fireworks?
Really good video I like how it has simple terms 👍

Very confident presentation for younger generation. Well done, lots of learning from now,, great hobby /young business
Still nice. As a young person in 1972 I had to work and with the Olympics, rental prices were through the roof and the dollar exchange rate collapsed. Broke, I hocked some stuff and came to the states.

Ludwig Maximilian Universität München or technische Universität München
This is actually decent, dunno which accommodation I've got other than I've got one but wouldn't mind Olympic Village.
Yeh it gets the job done
@masonfrench6189 just found out I have olympic village just don't know if I've got the tower or a bungalow 😂
@@masonfrench2 Do you which Olympic national team occupied your bungalow during the 1972 Olympics? From what I can gather, your quarter housed female athletes. Thanks.
