Welcome to the Family! They can get funding. Small amounts. $5k -$10k But not enough to sustain the organization. IF you have a track record of impact. Use those donations to build up your funding portfolio. A nonprofit is a business. I suggest a Founder start with $25k. If they don’t have start up capital then they should wait.

Question answered. As I continued watching, I learned the Founder/ Executive Director is the correct classification and stay with the boundaries of the IRS. Also that I would have to report to the president of my organization and could be fired if my performance is not good enough.
Is there a red flag by funders if you see the title as President / Executive Director?
Yes, because the Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and the President is on the Board. The Board is responsible for hiring and firing the Executive Director. So being both the President and Executive Director says you don’t understand the legal terms, roles and responsibilities.
