Muscat's movement is a sight for sore eyes after watching many of the major prize winners in recent times on film . My eyes were tuned in to Arabians from 25 years ago at Malvern and the wonderful veteran classes where hock movement was powerful, thrusting long striding and rhythmic coordination not like many today, an ostrich riding a bicycle is how I describe their movement.
Muscat was stunning to watch, especially when he was released in the arena. He was amazing, graceful and powerful. I stood in the doorway of his stall after he had won in Michigan. His trainer was having a champagne party. He watched me after I had arrived, then told me I could come closer and pet Muscat. (I must have shown my fascination.) I was so grateful, and have never forgotten that experience. Muscat was friendly, and nuzzled me back after I had hugged him. Not only was he magnificent, and beautiful, he was gentle and wonderful.
My first horse was an Arabian, this video brought back memories, I watched him win in Michigan at the Arabian show, just beautiful, and was at his stall at the party afterwards. I spent my time with Muscat, he was a handsome and kind soul.
This legendary stallion won the Arabian Triple Crown?

Nice animal. I once had an Arab out of "Calobask" that looked similar to this one. Nothing better than a fine animal.
Muscat & Bey Shah were both candidates for gelding in my book. Neither horse deserved to be stallions. Bey Shah had straight, short pasterns to name one fault & Muscat's back was long with a weak loin & lumpy croup, as well as a low tail set to name only one conformation fault. Bey Shah passed on his faults & Muscat produced far too much white on his offspring, as well as straight shoulders & long, weakness in the loins too. Generally both horses had no right to remain stallions. The only way they produced decent get was to be bred to the excellent mares, which wealthy breeders foolishly booked to them. In reality, both stallions have diminished the Arabian breed in America rather than enhanced it with their genetics. Arabians in America need infusions of European & Middle Eastern Arabian blood overall. Then, the middle east, etc... need to continue to import horses from U.S. breeders like Bazy Tankersly & Linda Fisher so their horse's genetics can continue being infused with the genetics of the horses over there & vice versa continually strengthening & diversifying the Arabian horse's bloodlines internationally. Without the infusion of the original genetics of the bloodlines we lose the strength of the breed. We need to keep the strength & vigor of the Arabian horse so the strength of the breed remains as it was in the beginning. Thus, it must receive infusions of genetics from each continent & its original source from time to time.
Did you ever even see this horse up close and in person?! I have. He was magnificent! This horse was bought at an extraordinary fortune of many millions and at the height of the cold war when it was difficult to import anything from the USSR here, let alone a horse. There is no such thing as too much white. That's just your personal bias. Muscat had some incredible daughters. I liked their temperaments and he also had a very good nature. At a time when some Arabians are labeled 'crazy,' he never was! This was a good horse! I never met Bey Shah, but I heard all sorts of stories about his temperament (nothing good).
Though the horses in Muscat's lineage had great bone & conformation in general, they produce too much white. In fact, before Muscat was a champion in the U.S. there were no sabino Arabian horses allowed to be registered as purebreds. He produced so many goals with so much white on them they were having to be culled by the hundreds. Breeders who bred to Muscat were outraged & insisted their goals be registered as purebreds. Finally the registry had to relent & the sabino was added to the registry as a legitimate Colorado for Arabian horses but, that wasn't until the late 80's or early 90's. Many purebreds had already had to be registered as partners even though they were the proven get of purebred mares & stallions. Owners were cheated out of legitimately bred & often excellent foals being properly registered as purebreds due to some extra white on the foal sired by their stallion or delivered by their mare. AHA has a lot to answer for, as many breeders lost considerable investments. Some breeders were even forced to sell future champions cheap as part needs due to the registry's unfair actions regarding the rulings regarding white markings on foals proven to be sired by purebred stallions & out of purebred mares. The owners of these foals were penalized & caused to lose considerable amounts of money & future income due to the AHA & their short sighted rules. Then, the registry's reversal of those rules at the behest of wealthy & powerful breeders & owners, while leaving less powerful & wealthy breeders & owners get screwed & left with much less valuable purebred Arabian horses in the market place, as they're registered as partbreds rather than unique, special & beautiful purebred representatives of their breed they should be representing. The AHA actually owes considerable retribution to the breeders & owners they cheated out of rightful profitability they could've anticipated had their purebreds been registered appropriately so they could've competed, been marketed &/or sold for their actual value at the time, which was quite high.
Not true.... look up some of the Crabbet-bred/CMK Arabians, many sabino Arabians within the Crabbet lines. Breeders breeding to *Muscat were not outraged in the least, white is not penalized. If a breeder "had" to sell a foal wih white it was due to that breeder's prejudice against white. There were indeed sabino Arabians well before *Muscat and they were registered.
Beautiful 🌟
😘💖
Beautyful Horses!!!
Magnificent animal
one a the very best Arabian stallions ever! look at the Arabian in the past and compare to now. they had better bone/substance. there heads were prettier. many of today's Arabians are too refined, heads too extreme, club footed. God please breeders go back to the good blood.
I like the old style better, too.

I don't know much about this Breed, but the horse is beyond stunning. He's so graceful and beautiful and knows it. I loved the closeup of his head and you could look into his eyes. His eyes are soulful expressive and oh so beautiful 😍. I wish I could of seen him in person.
He was a handsome Stallion.. perfectly balanced.
Well, I've never owned an Arabian--despite my fervent prayers--so I can't comment on details. However, there's something special about him. He seems to have more substance than most Arabian stallions, and while he's not quite as dainty on his feet, he seems more powerful and directed. To me, he's perfect.
Thanks for this video!
What a magnificent looking Arabian I like the shape of his head different from the Egyptian Arabians and the Arabians of tbe peninsula. I really love the beauty of thjs horse , the movement and his stance what a gorgeous animal.
CID carrier.
великолепен
Both him and Muscat were gorgeous stallions. However, two stallions really won't tolerate each other. They'll fight worse than tomcats.
Janet Griffiths Not true. If they're raised like horses (in a herd or with mom and without human imprinting of isolation), stallions will get along just fine. Bachelor herds in the wild are extremely common. As long as there aren't any mares around, stallions can be kept together.
Thank you for uploading this. It moved me to tears to see him in motion, because it was exactly how I remembered Nariadni when I saw him in person 30 years ago. He was so beautiful.
I saw him in Scottsdale at Karho He was retired to breeding. l had helped haul a mare from Canada down to be bred to him. Looking at him now l see certain conformation weaknesses that would have been heresy to point out at the time. There was a big deal as to who would be Nat Champion between him and Bey Shah. I never saw Bey Shah but from vids l would say l would have chosen him over Muscat. All water under the bridge now but still...needs saying.
Bey Shah had weaknesses too; they all do, the point becomes if the whole is better than the weaknesses and in breeding horses, if they breed on better then themselves. Muscat was not a flawless horse but regardless of those faults, he was truly a great horse. ;)
At the time (1980 or 1981?) I would agree based on photos. Now, having seen both later in life, definitely NOT since Bey Shah had short, very upright pasterns and had the tendency to pass them on, especially to his sons. I, unfortunately did breed a mare to one of his sons and FORTUNATELY, the mare was strong enough to offset that and the resulting colt had excellent legs and feet.
The reason for Big Bang was to create Universe that would create something beautiful as horse
I can't believe that most famous Arabian horse was born in Soviet Union !? I always thought that the most beautiful things can only be created in USA !!!
Yes, we had many of great horses (Imperial Russia and Soviet Union) Too bad we can not appreciate, what we have. You haven't heard about Russian Arabians?? They are one of the best in the world by the way
My cousin breeds mostly Polish lines. They tend to be slightly heavier built so she bred her best mare to a Khemosabi/Aladin-bred stallion. The filly produced is (to me) the most stunningly beautiful horse I've ever laid eyes on. Muscat is truly beautiful as well...well, I'm biased as I love the breed no matter what line they come from.
Sorry it's Muscat
Muscat had different marking on his head - just a first difference
Space Dog, may be, not everyone knows Nariadni, but everyone knows Muscat, and they both are chestnut :)
Who's Mustcat?
The horse looks good because it's not russian.
+badcatinbronx Also is not as stupid as you !
He is russian, even the name. And he belongs to Russian Arabians selection, sorry for dissapoint
