Beginner Bow Review: PSE Lazer 2024
Is that an Axcel bar with a Shibuya track? Oh no. no nono. My local bowshop owner would lose his mind.
I didn't have a choice. I needed a Bar that worked in the Bridge-Lock system on my Mathews Bow. 😅
Hi, Thank you for this review, I wad told this is a good bow and your video has convinced me to buy one. What stabaliser and weight system are you using?
Love it!🥳🥳
Thank you ! Clear and straightforward.
Whoa what a small world. I got on youtube because I am looking to buy a used PSE Lazer in SPAIN. I'm an expat living in Costa Brava. Weird to sind your very specific content. I also gave you a follow on IG!
@@MrRcecil Thank you for following my channel and I am glad the review was helpful 😀
Should you perhaps have adjusted the draw length to your daughter before checking the draw weight ? .
In hindsight, yes.
Non sense video, useless
Thats is really cool. What kind of camera did you use?
I used a Sony ZV-1
Your draw length looks a little short.
Use a finger sling and it will also help.
Why did you switch from the Lazer? 😮
@@shbfy I had someone who really wanted to buy the Lazer and I really likes the concept of the Title and I wanted to see the difference.
@@thebowbeginnerawesome! Enjoy 👌
Excelente video. Gracias!
This is the video ruclips.net/video/ICruegFyv40/видео.html
I also learned this from John Dudley's five part beginner series. I cannot recommend the series highly enough
I started trying that recently after seeing a video that John Dudley did. Feels so much more consistent
doesn't the arrows from your compound hit the backwall..? wats the poundage on your compound, may i ask..?
Hi. No they don't hit the back wall as they barely penetrate the back layer. The bow in the video has 60lbs Draw weight
@@thebowbeginner Cool.. thnx for sharing the test results and info; gonna go grab me a pair from decathlon.. 😉🙏🏻
Good video man! This is a common accuracy killer many aren’t aware of
Thanks ❤
I have been looking for reviews about PSE Lazer and when I found yours, I literally absorbed your words and your shared experience with this bow. I'm coming to compound archery from a traditional archery experience; I've been shooting traditional Korean bows as well as a Samick Discovery takedown. I have a question: I've noticed that you are wearing glasses and I'm wondering how difficult it is for you? I wear readers and for distance, I do cheaters but when I shoot, I'm struggling with both.
I use contact lenses it helps me and I also have the same bow I was going to do a video once it comes in to cover that exact question of you don't wanna use contact lenses I would suggest looking into shooting glasses. Yes they make shooting glasses for archery and rifle and pistol competition that help you aim and see distance ask your optometrist about them and they should point you in the right direction
Hi Don, Thanks for watching and liking the video. I am stoked that it helped you. Shooting with my glasses is not an issue. When shooting with glasses you just need to open your stance a bit. This allows you to face the bow a bit more straight on and the bridge of your glasses will not be in the way. I would also add that you need to change your shot process to include adjusting your glasses to the right position. That way you avoid them being slightly out of place on the shot.
@@thebowbeginner I just found out that there is a device called "verifiers". I am shooting a recurve, without a peep so that will not work but I'm planing to get a Lazer (compound) and with a peep, these verifiers are acting like a pair of reading glasses, it allows you to see the pins of your sight.
@@donanderson9872 There are verifiers and clarifiers. If you are target shooting (the Lazer is a target bow) then you want the target to be clear. For that you want a verifier, even when wearing glasses. There are different ones depending on your magnification. I use 8x at 50m. So I have a specific verifier lens in my peep that only works for 4x and 8x. A verifier is more for hunting setups I think
Thanks for the great video! Did you try any other bows besides the Lazer - can’t decide between this and the Supra X :D
Please please do an update on this bow please sir. Thank you for sharing
Hi. I actually made a video about it on this channel.
ruclips.net/video/HaIJR4jcKxY/видео.htmlsi=9DhYSP_tKLogK11Q
Hi. I’ve just got the PSE Lazer (off your review) and I was wondering, how do you attach your front stabiliser to your side bar please? Are you screwing the stabiliser into an extra attachment and then screwing it into your side bar attachment? If so, what is it please lol. Thanks for your videos - they’re fantastic!
I use an Offset mount for the back stabiliser bar. You can mount it together with the Front Bar in one Hole at the front of the riser ( best done using a Quick Release). I use this one from Axcel truball.com/collections/axcel%C2%AE-stabilizers-mounting-brackets/products/copy-of-trilock-adjustable-v-bar-mount-with-eyebolt-includes-2-side-rod-centerlock-quick-disconnects-black
Thanks for the reply. I’ve just purchased the Axcel offset mount you recommend. What is the silver colour mount you have between your Doinker podium stabiliser and the Axcel offset please? I can’t seem to find anything with enough thread to go through the Axcel bar and into the bow riser if that makes sense? Thanks again for the reply.
@@kermitcommando8833 It is a Quickrelease. It came with a longer screw. I now use a Quick Release from Shrewd.
@@thebowbeginner Fantastic! Thanks again for the reply and the help! Good luck on your journey.
You moved to a Title? That was a quick transition from the most entry-level target bow to possibly the most expensive one out there. Would be keen to hear more about this experience in a future video!
Yes. But actually, in europe it is one of the cheapest Flagship Target Bows. For some reason I don't understand it costs almost US$ 800 less than in the States. This makes it way cheaper than the Hoyt Stratos or Bowtech Reckoning. The unpacking and first impression video is shot and just needs editing. So far I am super impressed. This bow is so much more solid in the hand when shooting and needs a lot less stabiliser weight than the PSE Lazer did. I am still working out the best tuning for me, but even without stabilisers I am getting tighter groups.
@@thebowbeginner - learning that Mathews is that much cheaper over there is fascinating! Question for you though... What made you decide to upgrade so quickly? Do you feel you out-shot the Lazer that fast?
@@AnthonyMakhoul No. Actually a friend of mine was desperate to buy the Lazer from me. So I decided to upgrade. The Title 38 was on the top of my list as it has some very cool features built into it.
Wow poor you the wind is going crazy sure you still shot good arrows though
That dang wind! Makes it harder to really train right. But, getting quality shots off is a plus. 👍👍
Love how solid this bow is :-)
She needs to work on her stance!
Yes. She is working on it.
Great tip and most overlooked aspect of shooting your bow when it comes to consistency! Thanks!
Your're welcome 😀
interesting. applicable to target recurve too I'd think.
Yes. However harder to execute with the proper Olympic Recurve Shot Process which involves setting the grip quite late in the shot process.
@@thebowbeginner and not to mention the longer bow making the knee perch questionable. I'll try it though
Hi me again your videos are just too good to resist watching them😅
Thanks. I am stoked that you like my content 🙂
The 20lbs is likely at the shortest draw length setting. That is the way every highly adjustable bows I have work on seemed to work.
That is a good tip, but id point out that it doesn't look like you are neutralizing your wrist and your front elbow looks too bent as if your draw length is too short? Just quick observations, maybe get some other opinions on that? MFJJ at Podium Archer has a good video on the wrist.
I second this, another half inch might do you wonders on your hold!
Like making "tenouchi" in Kyūdō. Nice tip !
Thanks! 😃
Thanks
You're welcome
Great Times :-)
I love your channel. I purchased a PSE lazer off of your review! I can’t wait to get it. One question: are they SVL SuperQuad dampeners you are using between the limbs, and if so are they any good? Thanks very much for your videos and good luck on your archery journey.
Thanks for the support and I hope you love the bow as much as I do. The Dampeners are from Limbsaver.
That’s great! Thanks for the reply. I am looking forward to the next video.
You're welcome @@kermitcommando8833
Your a really nice guy I think you deserve a subscribe 😊
I appreciate that!
Thanks for the tips they'll really help also what bow is that😊😊
You're welcome. It's a 2024 PSE Lazer
Topoint isnt that bad ad all im using a topoint reliance pro at the moment and realy like it. Shoot just as great as anny other bows. Nice to see you daughter shooting 👌
Thanks Kevin 👍
Dude...she MUST get that left index finger down!!!!!
You should try a release sling. I shot competitive archery for 10 years, and the finger sling is a MAJOR component. Archery is very much a mental sport, and using a finger sling took a while to get used to, but when I got used to completely relaxing the bow hand and letting it fall into the sling helped improve consistency. Hope this helps God bless.
Thanks for the advice. I was using a sling in the beginning. However I was never really using it as the bow was not really jumping forward in shots even without any fingers holding the front of the riser.
@thebowbeginner What is your Bow poundage, and how heavy are your arrows?
@@inskinov412 Last Time measured it was 57 Lbs. My outdoor arrows are 420grains (100gr point)
Pull back as you come down from aiming high..... It's an easier pull
Thank you for the advice 😀
What he's trying to say is. Bring the up parallel with the ground, and when you lower the bow, you'll activate your back muscles. This will help with stamina. I commented on another clip about a bow sling. I'd highly recommend it. Also, wait until AFTER your first competition to try new things. Good luck, God bless.
@@inskinov412 Thank you. I will work on doing that. I actually started trying that last evening.
Rock n Roll!
Hopefully it will go well on saturday
I see so much hate for these bows online from people who have never seen one. Everyone who has used one however says they're an amazing bargain for the quality I'm in Australia and the difference in price for a bow with similar specs is about $350 barebow Topoint to $750 barebow anything else... if you're lucky So I'm considering buying one of these for myself... see if I care enough for a compound and maybe hunting (we can hunt in Australia all year round too)
Hi Ullish1989. So far I am pretty impressed with it. The finish on the riser is actually better than on my PSE Lazer and so far everything is working as it should (with exeption of the advertised 19Lbs Draw Weight) . My daughter is now shooting it with a full stabiliser setup and is loving it. Another thing I would say, is that the shipping was reasonably priced and really quick (less than a week). If I order stuff from the Spanish Mainland or the US it takes weeks to get here. What probably will not be great is the aftersales service directly from Topoint. I had questions on the M3 last month, and they never got back to me. But if you have a reputable dealer you buy it from, that should not be an issue.
Its cool that I'm newer and been doing this on my own already
🔥
Great to see you diving even more into the sport and your process is looking good. Hopefully your daughter sticks with it too. One minor thing, mind her hair when she's shooting. I've seen a number of women loose a few strands or get injured from hair getting caught in the string because they didn't tie it up.
Thanks for the advice. I will keep on trying to get her to tie up her hair.
Awesome. She’s going grow with this bow for quite some time. She’s strong. 👍👍
To lower or release the rest, pop the string of the rest. Don’t use the thumb knob. You are forcing the internals. Popping the cord is like shooting the bow
Ok. Good to know. I did not notice that I did that. I was tapping the top of the roller assembly (like at 24:03) to get it to drop. But popping the chord sounds easier
Might be worth testing the stabilizers with more of the weight inside the doinkers, with all the weight outside there is the potential for more flex which allows the bow to move before the weight slows it. Dampers in the limbs are relatively cheap and effective. The stabilizers are not there as dampers (although it can be a helpful incidental extra if they provide damping), doinkers (or cheap imitations) could also be added to one of the spare thread mounts.
I actually added the Limbsaver Dampers to the limbs now. They made a big difference
One other thing that can be played with cheaply and with a decent effect is "On Rod Dampers" Beestinger and SVL both do variants for €10 ish, they can be placed on the rods to tune out vibration and/or used to make minor balance changes to the stabilizer setup balance.
Thanks!
You're Welcome Eric 🙏
