      Hey @suhrita9 and thanks for reaching out! I would say you should focus on simple hands-on labs. Get comfortable with Azure, AWS or Linux. Try different services or write simple scripts:) certs are just complementary to your skills - these are not relevant if you don’t know hands on:)

    Hi Simon, I came across your channel through your meeting with Caleb. I felt like we both have started in the same beginning, for example, I am going to start my degree in Electronics Engineering and you said on the podcast that you completed Mechatronics Engineering. I am also trying to be flexible with my job opportunities- so I'm trying to do Cloud/Devops on the side with my degree for example completing certifications, projects, learning the necessary softwares (Linux, Terraform) etc. What advice and tips would you have for me?

    • @netcoffee
      @netcoffee 4 месяца назад

      Hey! First, of all - thanks for reaching out! I'd say look at Cisco CCNA - that's the beginning of many things. Regardless, whether you want to do Networking / DevOps /Cloud. Also very important - Linux Linux Linux. Most of servers run that OS so definitely Comptia Linux+. Only then start to look for AWS/Azure/Terraform. These are gr8 tools for you need to get your base solid first! Good luck!

      @@netcoffee Hi Simon, im currently learning for my CCNA and have learnt some interesting foundational knowledge regarding networking - however I have been looking at other content creators in the Cloud/DevOps space and they say that CCNA isnt worth it - as it only focuses on networking fundementals, my career goals are in cloud security,, engineer DevOps automation, solutions architect roles? What is your take on this? Would you say I continue learning for CCNA or skip CCNA and start more cloud-focused certifications like Azure fundementals

    • @netcoffee
      @netcoffee 3 месяца назад

      Hey! That's a very interesting debate imho. My view is that you will ALWAYS need solid knowledge about TCP/IP Stack, VPN, how routing works regardless of your position/career plans. As a Cloud/DevOps/Admin engineer you might be tasked with troubleshooting the connectivity between two servers and for that you need CCNA materials. So yes - don't skip CCNA it is still very much valid. Later go for Linux certs and Cloud ones. That will give you SOLID skills. good luck!
