Green Laning Cornwall - 1st June 2024
Go to London, chromed cars are not so unusual. last one i saw was an SL500.
I live in Cornwall, so a bit of a rarity down here 😆
Your approach to the ramblers was first class your the type of rider that gets us a good name, I commend you sir..
Thank you
Praze. Worst pasty i ever had was from there.
These don't look like BOATS to me, more like footpaths and private land.
I don’t recognise many but I’m a bit out the loop but a lot of our lanes down this way are pretty narrow I find (I use OS MAPS app, very handy )
Get over it
@@GordonBlack-t9c 😂
LOL I hope to be
Obstructing a public highway is an offence.
indeed it is
That was us at the Cider Farm. Nice to see you mate.
Clicky ride
ii'm personally not a fan of ABS on bikes but certain conditions it helps in the wet or snow conditions
I know that feeling well! 😕 My ol' bus is 41 yrs old and it wasnt rated as having good brakes when it was new! 😊 I find myself having to leave exaggerated gaps to compensate for the modern car driver and their last minute decisions! 😛
That’s ur fault bro, as a biker u should expect ppl to drive like shit
agree about anticipating danger. not sure about taking blame for other peoples lack of driving ability! :)
@@andyjonc my perspective is, I know I’m a good rider/ driver, if i do see a hazardous driver and I continue to drive normally it is my fault for any thing that happens with my bike, I should be giving the stupid driver space to fk up without my intervention.
@@gosu_bg5818not sure it is to be expected for an oncoming car to force their way thru & the car in front of me to stop suddenly. Of course yes I could have been more defensive minded & slowed right down & left more space, but then it's easy to be critical after the event. As it is, this wasn't even an event really, I only posted it as I was amused to lock the rear wheel up, at slow speed, on a scooter 🤷🏻♂️😆
@@andyjoncyou did an amazing job that’s all that matters at the end of the day, just a shame silly drivers like that endanger us
Were you indicating left? Never going to prove you did or the driver did anything wrong. Crappy video ! Don’t bother next time unless we see you flying through the air. Non event….
Thanks for your comment Bob. Feel free to not waste any more of your time watching my videos!
Love Cornwall,looks lovely,trail riding,awesome pastime pretty good idea,together,the more,the merrier,happyy times
Shame 2c people being so obstructive whilst ur only having a nice leisurely respectful day out. Its the minors that spoil it 4us! I ride in Devon on my ktm. Thats all we can do is keep doing what we're doing being polite and respectful. Take care....
@ 6.47, Lambriggan?
Ramblers are generally miserable and awkward. Male horse riders also think they’re the local squire or something. They’re no different if you’re on a motorbike or not. Tossers. Enjoyed the vid!
Hey I was wondering if you can help me as I keep getting lost I don't know any green lane. Many thanks
Hi mate, easy just join the TRF and the Cornwall TRF page on Facebook 👍🏻
I have been with them for mouth don't understand it all that's why I'm asking someone that's alright do it I'm not good with this technology
@@connors754 have you popped along to one of the monthly meetings? You can chat with members & maybe join a rideout local to you
Yeah I've tryed never get a reply and I'm always busy when you guys meet up so I only get to green lane when I've got five minutes to my so it hard
@@connors754 ok so you can either use the GRM map online, which is included as part of your TRF membership, or buy some OS paper maps if you prefer off line and mark up local byways
I thought it was a kayak video.
Haha yeah a boat of some description may have been useful 😂
A bridleway isn't a byway, it's a bridleway. Bridleways: a highway over which the public has a right of way on foot, horseback and on a pedal cycle (including mountain-bikes). There may also be a right to drive animals along a bridleway. Restricted Byways: a highway over which the public is entitled to travel on foot, horseback and with non-mechanically propelled vehicles (such as pedal cycles and horse-drawn vehicles). There may also be a right to drive animals along a restricted byway Byways Open to All Traffic (BOATS): a highway over which the public is entitled to travel on foot, horseback or pedal cycle and by wheeled vehicles of all kinds, including mechanically propelled vehicles, but which is used by the public mainly for walking or for riding. For example, a ‘green lane’ is a BOAT. A bridleway shows a route you can use if you are travelling on foot, by wheelchair (including powered wheelchairs and mobility scooters), by bike (including recumbent bikes and tricycles) or by horse. *i.e., Not motor vehicles.* You can use a byway or B.O.A.T. (byway open to all traffic) if you are travelling by any means we have already discussed, or if you are riding a motorbike or driving a car. So is this bridleway a bridleway or a byway? Because the sign clearly says "Public bridleway" which means no motorbikes. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
The confusion comes from a badly positioned sign post. At the beginning where I show it saying "bridleway" it should actually say "leads to bridleway" as further up that road, if you go straight on it is a bridleway. Turn left as I did however, and it is a byway 👍🏻
@@andyjonc I see
It’s so different 5 years later
And some people spend £20,000 on a bike just do what you can on a cheap bike, brill👍
Only clicked to comment. 😂😂😂 stopped to let the dog walkers through and then had to wait for the dogs to stop bummin!! 😂
A few of us had the same was on a byway group of 5 trucks pulled over turned our engines off and they all looked at us like 💩 and not a single thank you.
🫨😖🥴
Are all these lanes on tet and what camera are you using
Hi John, I'm not sure which (if any) if those lanes are part of the TET sorry. I was just a follower that day so didn't have access to the GPX for review. The camera is a VSYSTO dual camera setup that I recently fitted to the CRF, what do you think about the video quality?
@@andyjonc looks good the rear view is a good call wanted to do something similar just haven't got round to it, ended up with a Sony action cam
@@johnlloyd4911 I have previously used Drift action camera but bought a new helmet and didn't want to stick it on that so thought I'd give bike mounted camera a try. The picture quality is ok, can be a bit vibey at times as it's mounted on bike but I do like the combined front & rear views available. It also records GPS location but I haven't figured out how to incorporate that into videos yet 🤓
@@andyjonc I tryed Sony on bike and it was so jerky, sticking it to your helmet can be so time consuming, I'm just looking for lanes and trying to get back out and ride.
@@johnlloyd4911 have you joined the TRF?
No shoulder checks when overtaking and pulling back in and to close to oncoming traffic.
I never look over my shoulder. Well hardly ever. I use my mirrors
@@unclebadger597 oops
@@unclebadger597you should always check over your shoulder to check the blind spot, you would of learnt this in your CBT or full license test.
Yeah to be fair she needs to do her life savers more often, I'll have a word 🥸🤣
0:23 that's not filtering that's dangerous riding. Riding on the opposite side of the road with cars oncoming in the opposite direction, who have to avoid the rider. Again at 1:20 and 1:24.
Dangerous riding?? At 10mph 🤣 The oncoming cars didn't have to avoid anything, I agree she could've tucked a bit closer in on i our side but not once did an oncoming car have to change road position, as proven by no headlight flashing or horn beeping 🤓
@@andyjonc so you agree
@@rdrhouse agree with what mate, that it was dangerous riding? If so, no not at all.
@@andyjonc glad you agree
@@rdrhouse glad you feel I do 🤠
I presume those indicators are just fashion accessories???
Shouldn't use them while filtering or confusion ensues.
Hazard warnings??
She indicated the first time, when she changed road position. Possibly should've the second time too, but apart from that no reason to indicate at any other time 🤷🏻♂️
Gullies and deep mud is my Arch Nemesis 😁
Great vid, I'm thinking of mounting my camera on the bars, have you experimented with different mounts, what camera are you using
Hi Terry, I have just fitted a VSysto front & rear camera setup. The front camera is mounted on the top of the headlight on my CRF300L. I have previously used a helmet mounted Drift XL, which is much better from an image stabilisation POV (the VSysto picks up all vibrations from the bike) but it is also much nicer not having to worry about hitting the camera on a tree branch!
Both entitled to your opinions. I was always taught that you waited until clear to pull out & join another road. What if my indicator had been accidentally left on and I'd carried straight forward, collision. Pretty sure under highway code the car would have been found at fault as he should not have pulled out until road was clear
Disagree. Impossible in today's traffic. The rule is that you should not cause another vehicle to change speed or direction as a result of your own driving behaviour. Courtesy on the road costs nothing but smiles.
Agree with the previous commenter - you are indicating well ahead of time that you will be turning right and you are slowing down. In my opnion the driver in the blue car has every right to pull out, as you have given him every indication of your intentions. Flashing your front light, honking, waving your arms or sticking out your tongue is not a requirement :-D
Disagree. Your early indication and slowing was the only invitation any driver needed. One might even argue that it was polite of them to give you more room to turn at the junction. Just as it was polite of you to give the driver plenty of warning to pull out safely. The roads are far too busy to demand that traffic obeys your unspoken set of rules.
I see this all the time all over west London often blocking the only lane available for cars going in either direction they are normally drivers who haven't been in the country very long. If you tell them off you will get abused. it is out of control and dangerous.
Wot a muppet
It was pretty dangerous to be pulling the hose across the road like that, the guy could have pulled it along the ground to be on the safe side, but there's no excuse for being a bit thick. We all take innocent wrong turns from time to time, and it cant be helped when the locals break the byway signs down on purpose. I always use an os map printout when riding new trails and a printout of any up to date council guidance note that says I can ride a motorbike there, just to have proof if anyone challenges me over my legal right to be there.
Hi, can I use this video for my next video? THANKS ! :)
just because something is legal doesn't mean it should be done. I've walked this path before and it's common sense not to take a motorbike on it.
For what reason? If talking about pedestrian safety then the same logic could say that people should never cross a busy road. It's all about being safe & aware of other road (and yes this is legally defined as a road) users
That byway is plenty big enough for motorbikes & If these byways aren’t used by motorbikes, they will lose the right to use them…..
This is a similar problem that I am finding in the states. There are a lot of these bicycle rail trails around. I don't understand why motorcycles aren't allowed on them. Especially when they are used by snow mobiles in the winter. For example, I was doing a bit of touring and I came up to a four lane divided highway that connects Madison Wisconsin and Green Bay. Busy as hell and I'm not a very experienced rider, that was my first year on a motorcycle. Well there is a rail trail that basically parallels this four lane highway and the Horicon marsh is to the south. Being a weekday and a little crappy out, I could bet there wasn't more than two people on this rail trail. Rather than be daring and ride on the four lane or chance riding the rail trail, I basically back tracked until some decent secondary roads were available.
It looks rather muddy down there..... Surely "common sense" would tell you not to walk it? Even though it may be legal?
Your absolutely right Andy we are losing so many byways to ride/drive , they forget that without us using them and keeping them clear no one will be able to use them and then gone forever
That's the way to do it 👍
Where e 2
god there some miserable sods on the trails , its a shame , we all should repect the trails , bikers always branded the demon ,,, love your vids and subscribed, , love to do these trails one day , where's the best place to base yourself, thanks
NIce, are you still riding? Where was this, looks some great lanes
That's not a cycle lane, it's a footpath that the council added some paint to so they can say they made a cycle path. If you cycle at any reasonable sort of speed these mixed lanes are a nightmare and not very safe for either cyclists or pedestrians. Given the size of the bike rig and the risk to pedestrians I think they were in the right place moving at a good pace - I also can't see all this traffic you seem to think they were holding up, everything was flowing around it no problem.
If it has a picture of a bicycle it's a cycle lane. That's what the govt decreed who are we to argue. The traffic was in front of me and behind me (sorry I don't have a rear facing camera to show it) They'll always be an argument as to where bicycles should travel, my point was simply that where there is a dedicated lane then it should be used. I take on board your comment regarding pedestrians but I saw none during this experience, only road users held up by a slow moving bicycle-rig (as you call it)
should of reported him to the police and shown them the video, highly dangerous.
I mean the bicycle road ended so he had no choice. This would not be a problem if good infrastucture was in place. And also when you passed him he had no place to ride other then on the main road. :P Hope that in the future the road infrastructure is better for both biking and driving. :)
In case it's not clear the cycle lane diverted off to the left, but the cyclist wasn't even on the cycle lane
Always nice to see footage of a fun ride. Amazing how flat that steep hill looks on camera.
Cameras never do steepness justice do they
