Grindcast 348: Modern Horizons 3 Set Review!
Just wanted to say thanks for this. I bounced off Taken King hard when I tried it, and I doubt I would have if I had known even half of this stuff. This was exactly the kind of video I was looking for back then.
Ha, sorry I didn't have one up then!
That was very, very helpful! Thanks alot! :D
No problem! I'm glad I can help a little!
You play so loose and fast :D seems you missed some optimal plays! Enjoyable to watch though! Great audio on both ends!
Pick two, the smoldering werewolf is just a game-ender. Stand alone it's better than the Herald for sure. If you are really gunning for an archetype there is a good argument for the Herald, as white/red doesn't seem very strong. It's funny how you mention him when you thought you spotted him pick 4. Did you miss it on second pick?
I agree it's better than herald! I think I may have just missed it, but part of missing it was that I really wasn't interested in starting w/r. Still, probably better to just take the stronger card second pick.
Definitely still getting used to talking and playing at the same time. Hopefully will at least point out those things in the future.
5:15 If you're at all going to attempt to play that angler you took earlyer, you WILL play eldrazi that need creatures to sac to make viable and therefore you WILL want to play the cultist. Even if you don't sacrifice it, the card is not terrible as a 2/2 that cycles itself.
The brute on the other hand is just a hill giant, even if it does fuel your graveyard a bit. On his own the brute is worse then the cultist.
Hey! Thanks for commenting. I agree, once you have the angler you're definitely angling toward getting a couple emerge guys into your deck. That said, my comments about each card were in context of the pick--I'd be happy to have had the cultist there, but the certain death just seemed more important at the time, since there are several creatures built to be sacrificed and unconditional removal is harder to replace. There was really nothing else in the Lab Brute pack so I was happy to take it there.
"angling" hahah i see what you did there
