Servo valves are flow rated at 35 bar pressure drop per spool land. Maximum transmission of power from pump to cylinder occurs when pressure drop through system is 1/3rd of system pressure. Can anyone explain the meaning of these two sentences with practical methods to cross check the above two things ?

Would you be able to give me any specs or model numbers for the motors you used in the retrofit. Size for size the old siemens motors appear to be much larger than modern equivelents if you match them for max rpm and Nm values. For example the large twin drive motors moving the gantry are rated at 3000rpm and 10Nm I can find motors half there size that will deliver the same specs, is this a case of modern technology producing the same results from a smaller package or are am I missing something

I noticed you have changed your dual screw setup to rotating ball nut instead of turning the screw. Did you find that you gained a lot of extra performance from the mod? Is there much backlash in these thermwood routers. Cheers Gav

Also I hope you don't mind me asking but how did you move this cnc on the open road. I need to pick mine up next week. I guess it must weight about 12000lbs. Was it difficult to load onto a lorry for transport. Any tips? :)

Im looking at a similer machine here in the uk, its a 1997 machine. How feasible would it be to keep the original drives and use a card like a Kflop of Galil to control the servos? Thanks Gav

Nice conversion, did you keep the old analoge drives and motors or replace with digital motors and drives.

hello, question: (i'm in the metalwork business, but always interested in woodwork) what was changed in this Biesse retrofit ? the software/control, or the hardware of the machine; (they always seem to have the ways at the base , this set-up is an "overhead" type...) Thx.

what did you use for analogue output? galil/kflop etc?

what are you using for the control? ive done a big biesse too.
