Ah horizons, definitely my least fav album from them, for pretty much all issues you bring up here, its honestly pretty weird how they dont really commit to alot into these songs and a good 2/3rds of the album come off bland cuz of it, like seemed they were scared and played too safe, they sticked too hard to i guess what id call the "starset" formula, that every song had nearly the same song structure, like sure it was also a problem in divisions, but at the very least it less noticeable there, and the songs were put together much more better for the most part, its also very weird how many songs repeat the name of the song ex: alchemy, alchemy/ disappear, disappear/ tunnelvision, tunnelvision, etc., Not sure if Dustin fell into a creative rut during this time, or what happened, but the lack of variety/ song structure very much hurt the album, but while i do think most of the songs very meh/mid or okay there are some good/great and even a few amazing ones Good:Infected, Devolution, This endless endeavor, icarus, something wicked Great:Earthrise and Leaving this world behind And my fav: Otherworldly I know you criticized alot of otherworldly, but i actually really liked how its structure its pretty fitting in a way, though cant say that same structure works for every song 😂, im excited about the new album seems Dustin is learning his mistakes on Horizons, each song sounds distinct and are most importantly their soo good
I wanted to add a bit more about the new songs since i know their abit divisive for the fandom, or at least loud minority, at least from what i understood, "isnt very starset", while i do agree its very different from their previous works, and its fine if not everyone is into the different sound, everyones intitled to their opinions, if we can avoid another "Horizons", im all for it, i think its a way bigger crime to be boring than to be different imo
This is my favorite album of Starset. My first contact with starset was with my demons in 2015. In that time only knew that song. In 2017 I rediscovered Starset for this album, and become in my favorite of this band
Its pretty interesting seeing you break down each songs especially the formaliac structure of some songs, and this is a problem that actually sticks its ugly head even more in their next album "Horizons", but imo is even more of problem there, especially the in the second half but anyways back to divisions, prolly my second favorite (technically its tied with transmissions) album of theirs, behind Vessels, i do like how fun most of the songs are but i wont deny as an album its not the most cohesive especially in the middle section at least form faultline to waking up i wasnt all too impressed, i do hope their trying to fix that structure of songs with their newest album, it seems like they sorta are based on the singles we have so far, cant wait to see your break down on Horizons, good video!

yeah, I got it recommended to me, I want to do Green Day for like a 100 subs special, but I should probably start work on it earlier so that way I can release it almost instantly

Lord Of The Lost in F Tier is something I will never forgive you for. Besides, they have a lot of heavier stuff if that's all you wanna complain about. And the Blood & Glitter album features a lot more interesting songs like Destruction Manual and Leave Your Hate In The Comments. I have seen them live this year (twice, met them once) and they are so incredibly good. You, my friend, are missing out on them. And be glad they went a different route with Germany instead of the same old pop songs/ballads every single year.
