Testing the Yeti 1400 Lithium Solar Generator with a MacBook Pro.
Nice Jeep. What kind of fenders do you have. I like those a lot...
Beautiful Jeep OllllllllO
What type of tires does this suv have and how long you had this suv
The beauty of this rack is that it follows the contour of the Jeep and so it adds to the integrity of the vehicle!
Hi Alan, is it totally necessary to remove the rear bumper to install the rear tower? I have an LOD destroyer rear bumper with 37 inch tires. It's gonna be extra hard for me to do that part.
Great video, How much height does the rack add? Worried I won't fit in my underground...
Hi Its very nice 😳 when can I buy it only in US ?! Or in Europe how is the rust No problem ?! is that fully protected by paint I m really interested to buy Regards
Wow when can I buy it?!
Great video! Any issues with the rear stabilizer or any of them denting the panels or chipping paint
As of today I am at 33 weeks and counting. (It was advertised as 12-16 weeks to delivery). My 2021 summer overland plans are going to be canceled.
Does the rack go through a car wash ok?
Excellent video! Question: Do you (or anyone reading these comments) happen to have a measurement for how far the bottom step (just above the rear tail light, it has the reflective tape) extends out past the brake light? I'm looking to do a dual ladder and I'm concerned with the hi-lift, shove, axe mount I have on the passenger side. Thank you to anyone that answers. Cheers.
Loose the grill. Please.
Thx bro good looking out. I just ordered mine and cause of their special. Mine comes with 2 ladders.. sweet huh!
Is the tower clamped on to the body? and then connected to the body underneath?
Did anyone install the quick disconnect?
@@michaelk1283 thank you! I agree with you. I got the quick disconnect and I really appreciate how easy it is to use. I just tilt the rack all the way back and onto the ground to lift the hardtop off. I also love the look of my Gobi rack on my Jeep. Thanks for the reply!

Great look! I have a black 2015 Hard Rock and looking at the Poison Spyder Crusher Flares. Just wondering if you had considered removing the plastic part of the back bumper that dove tailed into the old fenders. Looks like it could be removed and just leave the rear bumper for a cleaner transition from flares to bumper. Thanks for sharing!
How did you get the grille to install..I bought aftermarket grill on my hardrock and doesnt seem like it will even come close to fitting when I tried
Squeaks in the front bar. Has to do with how it's tightened. Driving me crazy.
Yes. Mine is driving me crazy as well. I can't recommend the Gobi Rack for this reason. I am at the point where I am just going to take the entire rack off and be done with it.
@@alanhurtjr4143 I've tried ratchet strapping it to the rear for extra tightening of the front windshield bolts. Worked for a few days. Maybe I'll try pushing it away from the windshield next
@@alanhurtjr4143 here's what I did to stop the front bar squeak. Ratchet the driver side so that the rubber stabilizer is squished. Tighten all the bolts on the driver side. Ensure the passenger side rubber stabilizer is not squished. Tighten the top two bolts Snug the bottom two bolts not so tight. I have no squeaks now
Is the squeaking from the rack itself or the addition of a light bar? I love this rack. I'm torn between it and the Rhino Backbone for my JKUR.
@@GentleGiantFan it was squeaking from the actual front bar. It was torqued funny. No light bar installed. Patients and some fine tuning made mine go away. It's my second rack. I can run this with soft, hard or no top. The wait time is absolutely stupid though. I waited over 20 weeks
Looks great ! I too have a 16 Rubicon hard rock and going to get some after market fenders, thanks for sharing
Thank you! Hoping they will make this rack for my new 2-Dr Rubicon JL
Did you need a special bracket for this bumper?
Looks to pretty to wanna off-road lol
Considering the Jeep was only a month old at this point, I would say that is expected.
Not sure if you encountered this issue, but with the body protection plate on the driver's side, I had to remove about .25" material along the inner radius due to the fuel filler cover. If I did not, the protection plate wouldn't fit flush against the back of the Jeep. My fuel filler cover is a MOPAR part. Just a heads up if you have a cover, took me an extra 30-45min with the Dremel to remove enough material and smooth it out.1 second ago•
I noticed you have a backup camera. Is that the brandmotion camera? Did it came with your JKU or you installed it yourself?
No backup camera yet.
I relooked at your vid and turns out it was just the shadow casting on spare tire that made it looked like a camera behind it:)
Have u done any offroading with it? How did it hold up?
We have done a bit of light offroading. We plan on taking her offroading this coming year. Will post a video once we do.
How difficult is it to remove the hard top with this rack installed? I have a Top Lift Pro to get my hard top on and off. I'm guessing that would be rendered useless if I go with this rack? haha
There is a kit you can buy that makes it super easy to remove. I don't have it yet, but will post an update video once I do get it.
did you ever end up getting the easy to remove kit?
I need that setup in my life! Looks great brother. I plan on getting fenders and painting them. Looks great again.
I have a 2016 Jeep JKU Rubicon HardRock that I installed this same rack onto. It was a package deal with the rack, two ladders (one for each side in the back) and a 50" Rigid Industries light bar. It all went in pretty smoothly, but it makes a slight whistling noise while driving. I have the wind deflector in place, but yet it whistles. It's not super loud, the radio will easily dround it out at a low level, but...gah...it whistles! Don't get me wrong, this is a super strong, sturdy rack. My roof top tent is right at home on it and it's rock solid...but still...the whistle is ever present. Also, it's forever difficult to open your fuel filler lid due to the angle. You can't get your finger in there...but you can get your key in there easily. So just expect to use your ignition key, to pry open your fuel filler lid forever more.
I haven't experienced any whistling on the highway and we drive quite a bit on the highway. Sometimes, at very low speeds, there is whistling and it is not very loud at all. If you point the light bar slightly downwards, the whistling goes away. Regarding the gas lid, you are right. I tend to open it from the rear and my finger fits in fine.
I'll try the light bar adjustment suggestion, thanks! I had the light bar pointed down the trail just right but I rarely use it, so it would be easy enough to just adjust it back when I need it.
Thank you for the Video, and rogue109 thank you, I just bought a 2016 HardRock and this is the rack I have been looking at. I want two ladders also thank you both.
I fully recommend you get the REAR UPPER ISOLATORS from Gobi Rack! It will prevent the roof rack from moving side to side specially if its loaded!
Yep! already have them and put them on. I completely agree!
Why don’t you just paint your top?
Can I ask, what front bumper bar did you go with? Did you install your own winch?
Hey Sean! Stock front bumper and I installed the warn zeon - 8 winch. We have used it quite a bit already!
Great video, thanks for sharing your tips. Question, do you regret not being able to take off your hard top so easily? I have a 2 door JK and I use a Harken Hoister to remove my hard top. I really need a rack for the space, but worried I'll never take the hard top off again.
During the summer, yes. I have built quite a bit since this video and have contemplated buying another Jeep to use as a Summer vehicle lol. Once we are finished overlanding, I may take everything off so we can ride with the top off lol.
Is this the rack that cost $1600 USD?
Yes
Great video. I have the exact Jeep (Rubi Hard Rock). Favor to ask... would you mind measuring from ground to the highest point of rack? I really like this rack but am concerned it will not clear my garage. Thanks for the tips and tricks...great stuff!
Is your Jeep lifted? If not, shouldn't be a problem. My last JKU I had the Off Camber rack, 2.5 lift with 34" tires and still had about 3" of clearance in standard garages. From what I can see on this Gobi, it sits 2" higher than my previous roof rack. I will tell you may run into height issues if you decide to park your Jeep on certain public parking areas like the airport that has the height restrictions.
What Brandon said. My Jeep has a stock lift on it.
Great vid. I'm definitely going to get this rack. Can I ask you what fenders you have?
Poison Spyder crusher Standard width from and rear
hey, thanks for the video. Do you think you can do another showing your light pods and how they work with this rack. I am concerned that if I order this rack, I won't be able to find good lights or a snorkel that is compatible. Also, how necessary do you think the isolators are? And those plastic shields? My jeep is getting rhino lined this fall and I don't think the rack is going to ruin the paint. The isolators are just huge and ugly. I wonder if they actually do as much as Gobi thinks or if the plastic knobs could be replaced with a much lower profile torx nut.
Hey Loke! Sure thing. :) The isolators help quite a bit. Even still, the rack moves here and there. I have found that I have to occasionally lock them down. The shields come with the Gobi Rack.
Did you have to cut on the fender for the install?
jlg 1130 I did not.
Thank you for posting this video this was great timing! I just received my Gobi rack for my JKR last Friday and ran into some issues during the install. Your video helped me through it.
Greg Cooper great to hear!
About how much is the battery kit and additional battery? Also, will the kit hold your current battery as one of the two? It looks like 2 smaller batteries.
You need two new batteries. Any 34 series will fit. The batteries depending on the ones you choose, can run from $150 - $300 per battery. My batteries are deep cycle marine batteries. The Kit is from Genesis Offroad. www.genesisoffroad.com/dualbatterykits-s/106.htm Around $500. You can go with a homemade dual batter setup, but I chose Genesis for peace of mind.
Looks good!
They spec the usage of 'laptop charges' by 50watts. Anything above 50watts will be less charger cycles on their generators.
Yes. Understood. This is why I am creating these videos. To confirm this. With computer closed, I am pulling around 57watts. So we will see.
