      New recruits are attracted by completing your Challenge Log. If you haven't unlocked this yet, you can look for a quest "Rising to the Challenge" in Upper Limsa Lominsa. Once you have it, just start checking objectives off and you'll get a notification that a new recruitment application is waiting for you. This is completely random when you trigger a recruitment, so keep at it!

    • @sproutgarden
      @sproutgarden 2 месяца назад

      Your squadron's base stat total increases with your rank. So if you keep doing the Flagged Missions,, you'll be able to rank up and increase your Squadron's stats from 200 to 400. Once you've hit your stat cap, any training you do will keep its final total in that pool. If you're still having troubles with missions, you can purchase "Contemporary Warfare" books for 3000 seals from your Grand Company Quartermaster to change the class of your squad mates. Different classes emphasize different stats. For example, a healer will have a much higher Mental stat than a tank. I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions!

    Tanking with a NPC group is fun, but I won't do it with other players. There's not much talking in groups, but when they do, they're whining about the tank. "You pull too many mobs". "You pull too few". "I can tank better than this". Etc. I can't imagine this being fun for the poor guy/girl.

    • @sproutgarden
      @sproutgarden 4 месяца назад

      That just means you have to do 5 different dungeons with your squad, if you're asking about how to get Captain rank. So you can do Halatali, Braflox's Longstop, Stone Vigil, Aurum Vale, and Wanderer's Palace (or any other dungeon you'd like to substitute in), and that would count towards that requirement. Let me know if you have any other questions and I hope this helped!

    I don’t get the training system I’m having a hard time getting all green stats for missions because the training takes away certain stats so everytime I train them for a mission they will be low on another stat

    • @sproutgarden
      @sproutgarden 4 месяца назад

      The training regimens just add bonus stats to your team's base stats. The total of these bonus stats cannot go above 400 at max rank, so when you hit that total, you'll only be shifting around the stats. (Example: at 400/400, "Basic Training: Physical" will increase your teams' Physical stat by 40, but their Mental and Tactical stats will be reduced by 20 each to compensate.) If you are having troubles meeting certain criteria for a mission, things you can do to bend things in your favor could be focusing your training on a certain mission's target stats, but the BIGGEST difference can be made by changing your squadron's classes. Casters like Conjurers and Thaumaturge naturally have really high Mental stats, Tank folks like Gladiator and Marauder have high Physical stats, and DPS-focused classes like Archer are really good for Tactical stats. You can change a character's class using "Contemporary Warfare" books that you can buy from your Grand Company Quartermaster for 3000 seals (you have to be a First Lieutenant or higher). Once you have your desired book, you can talk to your target teammate and hit the "Change Class" button on their profile. Hovering over the different classes will let you preview the stat change they'll get from each class. Let me know if this helps and if you have any other questions!

    I'd add a couple of things. First of all, Low Blow (tank stun) is king. You can interrupt abilities, aoe's and just mitigate damage with it. It even works on some early bosses, as well as the last boss in the 3rd Void Ark raid. Very useful in dungeons. You can quickly see which enemy is casting an ability in your threat list, click on it and kick it. Second is that not many people, even gunbreaker mains, seem to know this, but you can mitigate superbolide (GNB invuln) with heart of corundum. Shirk, as the ability says, only works on party members. Tanks from other parties in alliance raids are not your party members.

      Why would they give a tank character the ability to shift agro to the dps or healer in their group? This has to be an ability meant to be used between tanks. Otherwise, it makes no sense.

  • @LumenPsycho

    There are 60 different squadron members in total. 12 of them come with a unique outfit. I personally only gather the unique ones. Sadly, you can only have 8 members which means you need to sacrifice 4 that look the least interesting.

Tanks are as useful as wet tissue paper if not. just today i had a tank in lvl 20 gear in a 40 dungeon duty... pain is an understatement, the dps tanked and me as healer, tank did absolutely nothing, not tanking, didn't do damage, didn't hold aggro. please people if you encounter this report it, its griefing and is against TOS, don't bother try tell them, they are without fail 100% of the time toxic narc.

    Awesome guide !! I think the only thing I would add is with positionals that facing bosses/enemies away also keeps the dps/healers from getting cleaved 'cause a LOT of enemies/bosses cleave in this game (which is something all new players should know anyway). And for folks who get tank-xiety, if you have friends or FC mates who are more experienced, I'm certain they'd be more than willing to go with you on some dungeon runs or be asked questions ! As the vid said, there are many helpful folks in FFXIV and love to help sprouts♥

    As someone that teaches classes, mainly tanking (as that is something majority of my friends and people I come across have the hardest time with) I approve of this guide, simple and to the point. Most people do not know about the perks of arms length nor interupts or basic stuns, so those and positionals and telling them to aoe tends be the things I teach the most. Wish they had more guide like this in game with their already class teaching guides in general, but glad see more people coming out with these.
