    Ha ha. So true. Once, a dental assistant of ours was so upset that at an office meeting, she brought up this very subject to get a new assistant up to speed. She turned to her and said. "You know we all work hard to keep the office nice for ourselves and our patients. Just one scrap of bathroom paper on the floor gives patients the wrong idea about how we take care of this place." She was a gem. Twenty years later, we still keep in touch. Ken

    Well done. Every dentist should be aware of this information, but they often become distracted by various interests and limitations. In fact, many dentists are not as strong in communication as you are, resulting in them delegating conversations to auxiliaries with mixed outcomes, as you can imagine. By the way, I was shocked to hear that last month the government reported that 80% of adults in our country are overweight. That really surprised me. Bob Barkley was one of my idols. One day, I might share a story about how I was nearly run out of an Air Force clinic in Massachusetts when I created plaques and displayed them in all the operatories, including the oral surgery suite. ken

    GREAT video Dr. Sonick! Finally someone has addressed the Staff vs. Team preference - think Disney first started the "team" with employees at least most visible... Years (decades) ago I was reminded me that '"Staff" when heard is always an infection or bacteria and negative in medicine/dentistry (Staph infection or Staphylococcus) and Team is always positive! My goal is always use TEAM and call everyone within the dental profession as dental professionals so you never miss anyone!

    • @michaelsonick
      @michaelsonick 2 месяца назад

      Thank you for your comments. I totally agree. I remind myself each day that the team are volunteers and that they could leave anytime. Having a strong motivated positive team is the basis of a great organization. Team is more important than the people we serve for without them we cannot serve.

    I love this video I love when my orthodontist Dr. Drew Smith of Smith Orthodontics talks with me it makes me feel calm because I have an anxiety disorder and also a sleep disorder called Narcolepsy I tend to close my eyes in the dental chair A.K.A. My throne my orthodontist calls it my throne because I love Dentistry and also Orthodontics alor and also both of my moms cousins work in Dentistry and also my orthodontist and my oral surgeon inspire me a lot because I just had all 4 of my impacted wisdom teeth removed back in April of 2024 this year and I thought to myself that I was so scared to do my surgery but then to calm down I fell asleep in the waiting room because I got to go last because they were getting my operatory room ready for me and so I fell asleep in the waiting room with my weighted blanket and some stuffed animals 🧸 that I had Brant to hold during surgery but I couldn’t because of my IV in my hand but the dental assistants put my blanket on top of me and I fell asleep it was really easy and also my I have another in-person orthodontist appointment coming up in December it’s on a Saturday because my orthodontist only works 4 days a week and sometimes 1 Saturday per month and now they are back working 1 Saturday per month and my appointment is on a Saturday Saturday, December 7th at 11:30 A.M. Canada 🇨🇦 time I’m so excited and also I’ve noticed that I’m learning in college in taking an Office Administration course and I’m in this special needs program called CICE-Community Integration Through Co-op education program and it’s a program for people with learning disabilities because I have a learning disability but they are teaching me in some of my classes about mindfulness and I’ve mastered my active listening skills because during my orthodontist appointments I close my eyes to better listen and being able to respond to what my orthodontist try’s to tell me and it makes me listen better and also it’s too bright the lights in his office because I’m his favourite patient and also his orthodontist office Ambassador and I get to have my appointments in his office it’s like a separate room from all the other patients because I don’t feel comfortable with all the noise and patients taking all at the same time so my dental assistant and orthodontist put me in a separate room so it’s easier for me and less distractions because I tend to get distracted and or not pay attention but somehow I always tell myself I don’t care about what my orthodontist is telling me but really deep down in my heart centre he knows I love him and appreciate him a lot. hello 👋 from Canada 🇨🇦 🩷🤗🦷🦷🪥 @michaelsonick
