We produce TASes for Half-Life maps using advanced tools and techniques.
We are also writing the definitive reference of Half-Life physics at www.jwchong.com/hl/.

Why is this Half-Life NPC invincible?
Some NPCs in Half-Life can't be killed even with an insane amount of damage. Or can they?
I was recently brought to the attention of Muty's trick in his Opposing Force run: ruclips.net/video/cFZXi_HG1Sk/видео.html
Some explanations or descriptions in this video are simplified. I can't cover all nuances and subtleties because the Half-Life AI system is rather complex where different parts of the system interact in subtle and non-obvious ways.
There are more shenanigans with the Half-Life scripting and AI system. This video is not the end of it.

Half-Life Nihilanth Killed as Fast as Possible
Просмотров 4 тыс.4 года назад
How to kill Half-Life's final boss, Nihilanth, as fast as possible, beating current world record's time. This will be featured in the mythical FULL GAME TAS. Half-Life 21 by quadrazid: ruclips.net/video/VtI5HM7GVGY/видео.html The main difference between our approach and quadrazid's Half-Life 21 run is the deliberate act of circling around Nihilanth to make him play the walk_r animation sequence...
Target Range TAS in Hazardous Course 2
Просмотров 6 тыс.8 лет назад
Owning the target range with a cold, machine-like attitude. The main highlight of this TAS is the demonstration of a known trick that is "nuking". One of the most prominent uses of this trick may be found in the Half-Life 21 run, and it is critical in our ability to skip half of the target range. The tricks here are usable in a non-TAS run as well, though they are necessarily hard to execute we...
q_mirror TAS in 1.328s
Просмотров 5 тыс.9 лет назад
q_mirror map by quadrazid, done in 1.328 seconds. Unmodded Steam version is used. Turns out it is possible to press the final button without going through the map. The first button can be pressed from outside the room. 60fps: mega.co.nz/#!s5U02DiK!Zt9omW6hrxNOaVMNY6kW44Yq4oQIHu16_bS6JEfnEDY Half-Life Physics Reference: www.jwchong.com/hl/
Opposing Force Boot Camp TAS in 8:26.363
Просмотров 36 тыс.9 лет назад
Watch how Adrian Shepherd completes his training with a military precision. Done in 16 segments, fully scripted. The unmodded Steam version is used. Timing starts from the very beginning and ends at the last use on the radio. Note that the radio speech doesn't start until a short while later. This is the first proper TAS done in Opposing Force. We have completely rewritten our TAS creation tool...
fmc_xaerox TAS in 32.073s
Просмотров 3,9 тыс.10 лет назад
From the very beginning until touching the final trigger, clocked at 32.073s. This is done in 32 segments on unmodded Steam HL, meant as a demonstration of quickgauss, a relatively unexplored technique. The two loud burst of gauss shots are gauss rapidfire in action. Gauss rapidfire was previously demonstrated in HL21. 60fps: mega.co.nz/#!Rs0G1JSa!6dhdj093UhwgxZbHEXj5VkVJImWF3uVCHQWIZabGSkc
hc2c3 Hazardous Course 2 in 52.332s

A TAS of hc2c3 from Hazardous Course 2. This is an r_fullbright 1 render, otherwise you wouldn't be able to see anything. ovvy previously did a TAS for this map as well: ruclips.net/video/UhPHXH_VbKw/видео.html. However, because the the door was opened before ovvy started the timing, his run cannot be exactly compared with ours. If you want to start timing after I entered the door, then my run ...
Power Up Half-Life TAS in 50 sec
Просмотров 27 тыс.10 лет назад
A Power Up TAS without skipping the tram. 100 FPS video: goo.gl/FQyzDr Time between entering c2a1 changelevel trigger to the obstacles being smashed is 50.025s. Completely scripted, default settings, done in 15 segments. The run time is several seconds shorter than our initial estimation. This is our favourite TAS thus far. Certain parts of this run were very difficult to script. For example, t...
bhop_iceberg, kg_duckbhopz, bhop_slow TAS
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.10 лет назад
3 slightly obscure CS maps done in Half-Life, for entertainment value. Linux SteamPipe 1.1.2.2 Build 6153 (latest ver at the time of writing), with a stripped-down version of hlspbunny. bhop_iceberg and bhop_slow are presumably 100aa maps. (bhop_iceberg) 4.582 seconds (kg_duckbhopz) 5.475 seconds (bhop_slow) 10.929 seconds Each of these maps have tricky parts which are time consuming to script....

agtricks TAS in 23.83 sec
Просмотров 5 тыс.10 лет назад
[UPDATE] Watch the re-rendered version: ruclips.net/video/S5EuEXJloRU/видео.html A TAS of agtricks.bsp clocked at 23.83 seconds. Note that sv_maxspeed is 300, not the usual 320. At the time of writing, no one has completed this map under 30 seconds without the use of tools. The script for this TAS contains 61,040 lines. We spent 2 days on this project, therefore it cannot be perfect. Improvemen...
bhop.bsp TAS 4096 units in 5.29 sec
Просмотров 6 тыс.10 лет назад
This is a quick and simple TAS of bhop.bsp 4096 units track. Using our techniques it is trivial to complete the track in 5.29 seconds, or exactly 5292 frames at constant 1000 fps. Our speed at the very last frame is 1061 ups. We created this mainly to beat YaLTeR's 5.40 sec time, meanwhile to prove that the first version of his Half-Life TAS mod is not perfect and not ready for frame wars. In o...
Half-Life: Perfect ~600 ups Longjump
Просмотров 18 тыс.11 лет назад
Even the best human players like quadrazid takes more than 2 seconds to make it to ~600 ups. With this script we achieve roughly that speed in 1.1 seconds. This is a demonstration by the Half-Life TAS Project Team. We used mathematics to generate a script that makes perfect longjump (aka acceljump, circle jump), or specifically, a longjump that has maximum possible acceleration. Note that 600 u...
why doesnt he just launch himself over the barriers, is he stupid?
I accidentally read the title as Oposing Force BootCamp Type Beat
10 years?
Imaging being one of the HECU and seeing Gordon fly around

Чувак, где новые видео? Даже quadrazid старается выпускать видео почаще чем ты. Почему ты годами пропадаешь?

"Press the night vision goggle key to activate night vision goggles" That's got to be the least helpful promt in history
Can you link the map somewhere?
Thanks so much
"I'll probably say, you are a soldier!"
general: my grandmother can do it faster
Cmon man we waited 9 years! Give us the technical details!
check quadrazid
Sweet! I bet no one’s bested this time till Quadrazid uploads his tas :3
Hey ! Stupid question, but how are you supposed to move right away at the beginning as the instructor goes for his speech ?
there is nothing more satisfying
imagine being able to do this on servers, would be another level of flex
More vids pls
Nice and informative vide9
3:18 IM DYING 😂
Awesome video, but the inflection and wording is very unusual and off-putting
It's not really
@@tenaibmsIt's subjective.
but this is a CountJump isn't it?
no
I'm actually surprised he 'powered up'. Because most people who speed run Power up just skip everything using Tripmines.
"A Power Up TAS without skipping the tram." read desc.
wow, that's a new thing i've learnt about invincibility from the NPC's
Because they longer act as an NPC instead more of an object
There was name "How to kill unkillable NPC"
Dude, this was so damn interesting! You also managed to explain this extremely well and with a clear golden thread. Phenomenal video!
3:35- I thought we were training soldiers here! ''huffs, puffs, huffs puffs''.
break obstacle courses world record with just 1/10 the time sergeant: are u tryin to embarrass me?
Are you hacking?
TAS literally stands for (t)ool (a)ssisted (s)peedrun in the channel name. The purpose of it is to find out what's theoretically possible with the game engine. Mostly TASes are too precise for humans. :) But speedrunners can do crazy glitches even without those tools even though TASes can be more precise. :D
Dude.
Best thing is that you can skip this
0:22 I like how it fits with the Gun rythm

+1 SUB. Keep doing those explanation videos, they’re great! And how do you get this Wall Hack tool?
I thought the channel was dead. Came here just to watch some TASes Welcome back!
Adrian express extra cafeine ☕☕☕☕☕ ☕☕☕☕☕ End training run →🚽
0:13 Can you tell me how to do mouse sensitivity like that on TAS ?
strafing yaw
So that leaves us with the only invincible deity so far monster_sitting_scientist
As i remember you can kill the sitting scientist too. By changing the damage number of explosive weapon in skill.cfg file (from 150 to 500 - 1000)
@@apaat7181 Unfortunately not, just tried it out. It does wipe the entire map out though...
I would have never thought of that
I remember once in opposing force, where you wake up and a scientist is trying to help a marine that's lying "dead" on the floor; I remember that I jumped on the marine or something and suddenly he was alive, stood up and shoot the scientist. I have no idea how that happened. This happened some 15 years ago when I was a kid playing it, I think I was never able to reproduce it. The "dead" script was probably interrupted somehow then.
Actually that marine isn't dead
@@ayssersoussi6198 That's the reason for the quotation marks.
This is clever lmao
Interesting video
He has a really good gaming chair
