2022 07 21 MVD Expected Probability Webinar
Просмотров 4202 года назад
Do you know the difference between a computed and expected frequency curve? The latest version of HEC-SSP (version 2.3) includes an expected probability adjustment. USACE guidance indicates that expected probability is needed for our projects using analytical frequency curves but not incorporating their uncertainty in the subsequent analysis. Our presentation team will be Dave Margo (RMC), Mike...

Hello. I'd like to ask. in my race hec it says "No flow in channel at river/station Cibanjaran asli Reach 1 13212 (channel may have overfilled with sediment)" what's the solution? or where the problem is
Thanks for the video. Just, can you please upload higher quality of the video!!! It's quality is really low!
That was good.. I always heard that we needed about 400 years of data to make a good 1%AEP assessment.. and the Netherlands has that in their canal markings
Amazon Video, but the volume is so low
Solid slides and no bullshit, thank you!
the sound is too low it is impossible to hear even when maxed out the sound settings
I heard it just fine, so not impossible 🤔
Clear and progressive presentation!
Many thanks Dr Faber for this great video
Please upload the fourth video
When we compute the cumulative probability of each sample maximum and plotting them. Why are you saying that "we plot this huge number of exceedance probabilities"? Please explain
Hi Can I use this setup for a river DEM?
thanks for such lucid explanation , however if you want to estimate annual maxima using which estimator would you be inclined to use ? MLE or MoM or some other Bayesian estimator ?
please actual geometry of a river basin.
Many thanks, Charles for this informative presentation
Hi. can we also do this for extreme rainfall and loss to crop yields?
of course yes you can do that
Very helpful videos! Thank you for uploading these!
thanks, it very helpfull
This is a great video. Thanks for posting it!
Thanks for sharing Beth.😃
Sir you can make a lot of video on sediment transportation with detailed analysis.. please do like that
I am confused with sorting and armouring.. Please explain in detail
Thank you for the videos, which is the procedure to determine the sediment capacity that can recharge a stretch of river in a period of one year.
where can I get the sample file?
Would this work to calculate the sediment ramp characteristics behind a weir?
thanks a lot
Can you please post a video of sediment modelling with flushing arrangements of Dam? Would be a great hand.
Could you please provide links to these papers?
Very informative you explain everything the hydraulics, mathematics behind software and software itself please make a video on Flood encroachment studies .
Nice job! Looking forward to seeing v5.1.
Stanford great video, thanks!. If I calculated the total load with example MUSLE equation, and not have other information, (except Bed Gradation naturally) how I can calculated the Rating Curve? Thanks
That is a tough problem...since MUSLE only gives you an event or annual load and no gradations. If you use HEC-HMS to compute MUSLE, it will distribute the sediment load over the hydrograph to create a sedigraph, which you can import directly (by grain class) into HEC-RAS. Otherwise, I would probably replicate the analysis in HMS in Excel: This reference describes what we do: www.researchgate.net/publication/269138827_Modeling_watershed_and_riverine_sediment_processes_with_HEC-HMS_and_HEC-RAS MUSLE in HMS is also on the video list...but its getting to be a long list with limited time.
Thanks for the great tutorial on sediment transport. Can you elaborate more on the calibration and validation of the model? How to improve the accuracy of the model. Thanks
Thank you for producing these tutorials!
These 3 videos are very helpful for people who want to modelling a sediment transport. Really served my a lot for my thesis. Thanks!
I been trying to simulated sediment transport in a river but I dont have the data for the flow gradation I do not know how to get this data or how can i guess that gradation. It is not really well explainded. Could you help me please?
The flow gradation is really the most difficult part to estimate. I'll probably do a dedicated video at some point. It is usually a calibration parameter...estimate it and then adjust it to reproduce measured data. It is also usually much finer than the bed gradation. We wrote a paper on how these data tend to vary with flow: agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/2016WR020135 If you don't have access to WWR, there is a draft on research gate: www.researchgate.net/publication/319857228_Flow_Dependence_of_Suspended_Sediment_Gradations
Files are available at the HEC website that points to this video: www.hec.usace.army.mil/training/webinars.aspx
Please make a video on dam breach analysis using 1-D Modeling in HEC-RAS..
Are there any plans to make similar videos but for unsteady sediment modelling?
Yes. Unsteady sediment is on the list - but might be a while. The sediment data are no different, however. You can use the same sediment data file with an unsteady flow file and unsteady plan.
Very helpful information. Can you model sediment transport of secondary lahars using HEC RAS?
We have added non-Newtonian, fixed-bed, mechanics to the developmental version of HEC-RAS and will probably start non-Newtonian mobile bed development next year. But the release version is Newtonian. So concentrations over Cv~20-30 will be pretty speculative.
