There you are! I love Mince & Tatties and glad to know how to do this at home. Best and thanks much.
Hope you enjoy. There are new recipes coming next week, so stay tuned.
I am binge watching Granny's Scottish Kitchen. Straight to the point and delicious recipes . Yum.
Fantastic and thank you. Please spread the word about this wee venture if you can! We’re almost at a milestone for Subscribers.
Isn't this a bit like colcannon?
Almost…Rumbledethumps includes cheese, which is not traditionally found in Colcannon and is typically baked, resulting in a crispy cheese topping, whereas Colcannon is more of a stovetop dish with a creamy texture.
Just found this channel and I am loving it! Granny cooks just the way I do. I get so intimidated by the chefs who talk really fast and throw things in a pot and have such glamorous and huge kitchens. This is so me. Homely and down to earth.
Welcome!! Thanks for your kind words and for your support.
This was so good.just my personal taste i will put more spice in x
Absolutely, go for it!
Delicious i sometimes like to use button sprouts in mine but your recipe is best
Nice idea. Enjoy creating this.
Never heard of this reminds a bit of Bubble & Squeak looks good 👍
Thanks. They’re almost similar, except for cooking method and ingredients. Rumbledethumps is baked, whereas bubble and squeak is fried. Rumbledethumps often includes cheese, while bubble and squeak traditionally doesn’t. You should definitely give it a try.
Yum!
It is really tasty. I hope you’ll make it.
💜💙💚
Thanks for watching.
I enjoy hearing you speak, lovely accent🫶🏻💫
😊 thank you. Enjoy the recipes.
Looks gorgeous.
It really is! Tastes great too 😁
Another delicious recipe!! 🤤 Thank you!!!
My pleasure 😊 enjoy making this one.
Love this - can just almost taste it too. 😊 It's now on my upcoming week's list. Quick and tasty. Thank you!
I hope you enjoy it.
My Nanny used to matke it for me when i was over for a sleep over. She used to cut the bread into 4. It doesnt change anything but it always made it more special for me
These little touches make it all the more memorable.
I love your videos but this aint stovies, this is cornbeef hash. Glasgow do very different stovies (my wife is from Angus and she also makes this mistake lol)
Note that the corned beef is optional as my son doesn’t like it, so he probably has the more authentic experience. You can adapt the recipe to how you like, but the premise is the same. Thanks for watching. You can join the FB group for the recipe card and tweak the recipe as you wish.
Och aye, Granny! Just watched yer video on makin' tattie scones, an' it's pure dead brilliant! Loved how ye showed us the traditional recipe - so easy tae follow an' doesn't cost a fortune. Perfect for when I've got some leftover tatties. Ye've got such a grand way of explainin' things, an' by the end, I've got a clear idea of how tae make those tasty tattie scones. Proper home cookin' that's cheap as chips an' full of flavour - what's no tae love? I'll definitely be givin' it a go masel'. Cheers, Granny! Slàinte!
Thanks for watching and enjoy your cooking 😃
No lentils in the ingredient list.
1 Cup of Red Lentils (300g).
Looks DELICIOUS 😋
Thank you 😋 it’s a good recipe. Make sure you try it.
The loaf pan is genius for getting perfect squares. Love this. Thank you 😊
Happy cooking 😁
This looks so yummy
It is! I hope you try making it.
Keep going Granny, you're going to be big. Maybe just get a little help with the editing. I feel disoriented with all the quick camera angles. God bless!
Thanks for the tip. My son edits for me and he does this live, so I’ll ask him to cut more gently.
Thanks!
Welcome!
Nice recipe. Thank you! Looking forward to try it.
Hope you enjoy. My FB Group has all of the recipe cards.
It would be good if you could use standard units so that the audience can understand
You're American aren't you? Ounces and grams are standard units of weight. Cups are a unit of, incredibly inaccurate, volume.
@@Su-ri5ob No, I'm one of the other 96% of people. A unit used by only 4% (US, Liberia, Myanmar) can hardly be called standard.
@@xuedalong I repeat, ounces and grams are standard units. I have no idea what you use.
@@Su-ri5ob grams are standard, ounces are not.
Do you mean Imperial or Metric? I use imperial but my FB Group has the metric measurements in the recipe cards to cover all modern kitchen chefs and bakers. Most of these I know since childhood, working in hotels, so I don’t measure usually. Thanks for your comment.
It kind of looks like roti or naan. Definitely must try and make these.
It’s a quick dish so definitely have a go. Join the FB community for the downloadable recipe card.
Mm. Mm. Thank you!

thank you for sharing 💗💗💗💗
Thankyou for watching. 😁
Looks perfectly prepared, my friend 😍👍‼️ This flavourful dish looks so mouthwatering 🤤🤤👌‼️
It is. I hope you get to make it. Thanks for watching.
Haven't had stovies since I lived in Aberdeen in the late seventies! I'm in NZ nowadays, so a good trip down memory lane! Thanks. :)
I hope you get to relive it by making it. The full recipe is available on my Facebook community. Thanks for watching.
Oh, my goodness. EZ PZ. This makes me hungry! Thank you.
Hope you enjoy making it. It’s a good one and very hearty.
Mm. Mm! I can almost taste this already. Thanks so much!
Enjoy making it. Remember to get the recipe cards over at the Fb Group.
The camera angles change too rapidly... Its nauseating.
I’ll be sure to inform my editor. What angles in particular bring on nausea for you? At least it’s not my cooking eh?
So the world is left wondering how much sugar is in a little Scottish bag. 😉
It looks like a 2 lbs bag. Now what I would like to know is how long she beat it.
You’ll have to join the Facebook community to get the full recipe in both metric and imperial measures. 1lb sugar is usually one bag of sugar.
10-15 mins of mixing usually does the best work. Use a large wooden ladle.
👁👁 🇺🇸 Happy to drop by
Thanks for dropping by.
Easy and Perfect! I am making this on Saturday for my neighbor. He mows my yard and I make him dinner and 'fixin's', as we say here in Oklahoma. A great trade-off for me. Thank you so much! 😊
Sounds great! I hope they enjoyed it.
@GrannysScottishKitchen A Big Hit! Your Beef Goulash is now on my Make This Often list. Thank you.
My granny from Budapest used to make this in honour of the Red Army that liberated them in 1944. She always added plenty red wine and 8 red chillies for the 8th Red Army az iszonyatos kalauzawfy braw as she used to say.
Fascinating history, though can you translate the Hungarian for transparency? Enjoy the dish.
@@GrannysScottishKitchen Delighted to do so. The Hungarian for transparency is 'átláthatóság'.
@@GrannysScottishKitchen Hungarian is a complex language and does not always translate well into English The phrase "az iszonyatos kalauzawfy braw" very roughly means something between awfy braw and delumptious
This looks very good, and something an old guy like me could whip up myself.....
Definitely and once you make it, you’ll want to make more of them.
Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for watching ⭐️
Well now that is interesting! My grandma used to make this, she was from Norway. Which is just across the water, I suppose. I will have to ask my mom what the name is. Thank you for the instructions!
I hope you get to make it and try it. Thanks for watching.
My granny from Patna would be shocked!!!! Add the mustard seed to the dry frying pan at the very start, fling in a piece of cinnamon bark and a few cumin seeds - if available 2-3 cloves (no more) and a big bay leaf, dry fry for a few seconds then add the oil and fry for 30 secs or until the mustard seeds pop. Have a lid handy!!! Once the mustard has stopped popping, add the onions and about half of a pepper finely chopped. remove the white pith from the peppers, it can be somewhat bitter cook for a good 10-15 mins , more if you have the patience to get them well browned, if it sticks at all , stir well and/or add a tiny amount of boiling water - just enough to get that those yummy brown bits off the pan and into the onions - then add the garlic ginger, fry for about a minute and add the spices. Cook them in for a few mins, again adding SMALL amounts of water to stop it sticking. Fresh lemon juice also works well here. Then wash your coriander, trim the ends and cut the stalks off. Chop the stocks finely and add them into the spice/onion mix. Keep cooking gently for another few mins and then continue as you have shown - this really will make difference. Looking forward to more of your recipes, Greetings from South Ayrshire 🙂
Shocked at how tasty this is I hope 😀 some good tips here thanks. I use these in my approach too and slow cook. Fresh is always best. Subscribe to support my emerging channel and share any tips over on my Facebook community group.
@@GrannysScottishKitchen Shocked at the use of the blender and air fryer. Although from Ayrshire, she would eschew the use of an air fryer. Its interesting to see how jalfrezi, originally a quick stir fried street food from Bengal has evolved through BIR (British Indian Restaurant) to become a slower dish with much sauce. No less yummy for that though but quite different from a jalfrezi you would get on the streets of Kolkatta or Patna, Bihar. May I add how impressed I am by the production qualities of this vid, especially for a relative newcomer to YT. Also the almost total lack of crappy ASMR music in the background so we can actually hear you. Somebody obviously knows what they are doing. Well done and keep it up 🙂
Yummy! It's interesting how ethnic foods have expanded our menu's. Will go to specialty store for whole Curry Leaves. Thanks much. Looks so good.
Just leave it to cook slowly and you’ll enjoy it even more.
@@GrannysScottishKitchen 🙂 Mm. Mm. Will do!
@@okiejammer2736 As with almost all curries, this will taste much better the day after. Its why the remains of last nights curry makes such an outstanding hangover cure. Even better if you heat it up (thoroughly).
Great lunch for two with crusty bread. Mm. Thanks!
It certainly is. Make sure you join the FB Community for all of these recipes.
What? Done. Will be making this today. Have never heard of it, but how great as a cold sweet for warm weather. Thanks!
Hope you enjoy 😎
Would it be sacrilegious to add a little dark brown/muscovado sugar?
Give it a try and let me know how it goes 😎you might find it’s rather sweet already.
@@GrannysScottishKitchen I took out some of the white sugar and then added brown and a dash of vanilla; tastes ok to me, but I'll be taking it round to my aunties this weekend from whom I'll get a second opinion.
Looks great, .never seen tablet before.would have been nice to see the finished product at the end...
Mm. Mm. Mm! 🌷 Looks delicious AND delightful. I'll be searching to see if the Lurpak Danish butter is available in this area. Thank you and HAPPY EASTER!
Thanks. Good luck and Happy Easter.
OH, yes! Just love this. Thank you. 😊
Enjoy your breakfast, or lunch.
truly scrummy - always slice rather than mash your bananas
Absolutely. Believe it or not, it’s fewer calories if you slice them 😀
Yum. My Grandson requests 'Banana Anything' for a treat and he will love this. Thank you!
@@GrannysScottishKitchen Always save the stringy bits from the banana skins as well. Dry them out for 48 hrs and add to your usual scone mix for alternative space cakes. My Granny from Drongan taught me this.
Enjoy the recipe. It’ll last a few days too.
Fascinating take on this. I know the area well too. I hope you enjoy trying this recipe.
It looks good
It’s really tasty too.
Will do this recipe. A 'Meatloaf Jar' is not used in the USA, but it should be. SO much less clean-up and easy to serve. We have many recipes for Meat Loaf, all baked in a handmade bread loaf shape or a loaf pan, ketchup on top. (Americans and ketchup...😉) And yes on the mustard. Delicious. Thanks!
Sounds great! You can buy the jars from cook shops or antique shops. They are a rarity though.
Fantastic video thank you ❤
Thanks for watching.
