Великобритания
Добавлен 9 окт 2017
Hi and welcome to my channel. I love visiting historical and abandoned places. Join me for explores around Wales, including urbex, history and our beautiful countryside. I do my best to post a new video at least once a month. I also love the sound and nostalgia of old theatre organs, although I have no technical knowledge. Hope you enjoy!

Abandoned Cottage By The River
This little cottage sits in an isolated area near the River Teifi. It's been empty for as long as I can remember, slowly decaying.

Laugharne Castle - Perrot and the Poet
Просмотров 10321 день назад
The original castle was built in 1116, by Robert Courtemain, and entrusted it to Bleddyn ap Cedifor. It was the meeting place of King Henry II and Rhys ap Gruffudd, who seized the castle after the king died. It was possibly damaged by fire at this time. The castle was rebuilt by the Normans and changed hands several times until in 1585 it was gifted to Sir John Perrot by Queen Elizabeth I. He p...
Sadly Decaying St Michaels Church (Abandoned)

A look around the church and graves which are falling into ruin. The place has been abandoned for nearly 50 years and is really starting to have structural issues. Very sad to see as the site dates back to medieval times.

A Visit To Dryslwyn Castle Ruins
Просмотров 1292 месяца назад
Dryslwyn Castle was built in the 13th Century by a Prince of Deheubarth, but it is unclear which one. It was the scene of many battles between the Welsh and the English, eventually being taken by the English after a siege. Today it is a peaceful place to visit, often inhabited by sheep, and has remarkable views over the surrounding countryside.
A Visit To Llangathen Church

Join us on our visit to St Cathan's Church, Carmarthenshire. St Cathan was a 6th Century monk from Ireland, who travelled to Scotland as a missionary. His feast day is 17th May and he was buried in Tamlacht, Ireland. I can't find any information relating to worship in Wales. The church dates back to medieval times but has been altered at various times. Inside there are a number of tombs and mem...
Aberglasney Gardens In Spring Part 2

Aberglasney Estate dates back to medieval times and has had many owners including a Bishop and a lawyer. It remained a home until the 1900's when it was used by the army during World War II, then eventually sold and the estate split after the death of the owner. It was abandoned and became derelict until the 1990's when it was rescued and restored with money donated by a wealthy American gentle...

Llandyfeisant Church - Revisit and a look inside.
Просмотров 4435 месяцев назад
Llandyfeisant Church is on the outskirts of Llandeilo and also known as St Tyfi's. The original church was medieval but was extended/rebuilt in Victorian times. It is now deconsecrated and no longer used for worship but a group has been formed to try and restore the building and save it from ruin. School For Vandals
Просмотров 1126 месяцев назад
The oldest building in this complex started life as a school, I have been unable to find any information about it but I believe it is Victorian. Later modern additions have been made on the site and it was used as offices by the local Council. The place has been derelict for some time and is deteriorating very quickly now, mainly due to a huge amount of vandalism. It is one of the worst cases o...
Munitions Factory Relics at Pembrey

We explore the site of the old explosives factory at Pembrey, which has now been returned to nature as a country park. Production ran from 1881 when a dynamite factory was opened, then through both World Wars producing explosives and shells. It ceased operation in 1964. If you want to look into the site further after watching I have posted a link here which includes lots more information and pi...
Lamphey Bishop's Palace

We explore the ruins of Lamphey Bishop's Palace which was mainly constructed by Henry de Gower, the Bishop of St Davids 1328 - 1347. The palace was a second home where the Bishop would go to relax away from the Church and State responsibilities and where he would entertain his friends and influential people. Bishops were very wealthy and lived a life of luxury way beyond the means of the majori...
St Daniel's Church (Disused) and Cemetery

St Daniel's is a Grade 1 listed building and one of the oldest churches in the area. It is dedicated to St Deiniol, a 6th Century saint who had a hermit's cell on the site and was said to be the first Bishop of Bangor. The site was visited by pilgrims as it had a miraculous healing well. The church dates from the 14th/15th Centuries and it's fortunes have changed over time, being abandoned, rep...

Join us on a gentle stroll through the festive lights at the Botanic Gardens. Apologies for lack of content, my video editor had a catastrophic failure and being technically challenged it's been hard for me to find an alternative that I can actually understand! You will notice that things look a bit different but it will have to do for the time being. Thanks for watching and have a great New Year.

Too bad no one want to rebuild it
I know, it's a beautiful spot.
Where is that
Sorry, I don't give exact locations in case it leads to more vandalism. Thanks for watching.
@@melblues3847 ok no problem
Cool video :)
Thank you
I went in there a couple of years ago. It was in a similarly bad state then. I still found it appealing. Accommodation seems to have comprises a living room and parlour with early twentieth century zinc kitchen extension and possibly sleeping space under the roof.
I liked it too, my friend calls it the 'haunted house'. We visited a couple of years ago too and someone had just cleared the land around it so we didn't like to go in.
Where is this I think I've passed it but can't place it. Good video diolch
I have never been inside the castle, I was wondering why when I started watching this and then realised. I'm not good with heights either. Great to see inside that writing room. I've always wondered what it was like in there. Thanks for the tour and going up the tower so I don't have to.
You're welcome. I think the tower at Pembroke castle is the worst but I haven't filmed it yet.
Such a fascinating video! Laugharne Castle looks incredible, and the story of Perrot and the Poet adds so much depth to the experience. Thanks friend for bringing this historic site to life and sharing these intriguing details with us! Like 2! We join your channel
Thank you so much for your kind words and support.
Is that giant chess set in that garden?
Yes!
Been to Laugharne many times but never gone inside the castle. Thanks for showing me around 😊
Glad you enjoyed. I'd been in years ago so couldn't remember what it was like.
Wonderful sharing. I enjoyed watching. Great video 🦇 👍
Thank you for your support.
The church belongs to the farm next door. The churchyard is still the responsibility of the Church in Wales. It's deteriorated since I visited a couple of years ago. 😢
It was pretty awful, I'm surprised it's been allowed to get to this state considering the age of the building.
Video would be good, but watching it makes you dizzy. Done too badly. Filmmaking is an art in itself. But otherwise---
Thanks, I made this one some years ago, hopefully I've improved a bit since then.
Is this the church near Boncath?
That's the one.
That looks like it was fun. Stunning cliffs!
It was, and we had the benefit of good weather.
Such a lovely site, thank you for the historical background.
Thanks, it was our third attempt. The first two had to be aborted due to the camera battery running out and then it was too windy. The views are the best.
I wanted to see stonework and boy, was I not disappointed. I was wondering about that structure on the distant hill... I'm glad you zoomed in on that tower near the end of the video. Great footage of an amazing location !
Thanks for watching, we are lucky to have so many castles. I'm hoping to do another soon. The tower was built as a memorial to Lord Nelson and was part of the Middleton estate.
oh my what beauty
Thank you.
Not been to this one. On the list now. Great views from the top.
The views are the best but wear boots, there's a lot of sheep poo!
@melblues3847 there's always sheep poo it's Wales🐑😄
A beautiful site
Another great tour in this mysterious church. Both inside and outside it has an amazing atmosphere. 👍 🦇
Thank you, it is a special building.
Thanks so much for this. I've put it on my must see list. Very sorry to see the damp, the ivy on the walls and tower and the damp affecting the memorials. The Bishop Rudd memorial is superb. There's obviously some expensive repair work required. Sadly the diocese are about to close some churches. I wouldn't be surprised if this one is on borrowed time.😢
It would be a terrible loss, it really looks like they are struggling.
Thank you , I love the tiles and the architecture of the church . The countryside looks beautiful and it was lovely hearing the birdsong .
Thanks, there are always lots of birds around there.
The ceiling beams are incredible! Such a lovely old church!
Legend
Thanks
Wow.. this place is destroyed.. I do however love when the vines and vegetation starts growing in through the windows. Always thought that looked cool. I would have to say that older building at the end was my favorite part. The windows were beautiful. Great explore, Thank you for taking us along
Thanks for checking in. My favourite bit was the older part which was a bit dodgy as right opposite houses, I also liked the view down the corridor which was overgrown. It's been like this for years, slowly getting worse.
I watched with pleasure. Great video. Best wishes to you 🦇👍
Thank you, best wishes to you too.
Beautiful walk. Very atmospheric. Regards🎥❤👍🏻🦇
Glorious garden. I love the handkerchief tree. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, you don't see those trees very often.
Legendary
I've not been for a while, things have really moved on. I must revisit. Thanks for the tour, it was really relaxing to watch.
It has changed a lot since the early days.
Another superb explore. Thanks for the tour 👍👍
Thanks for watching.
Very lovely walk! Thank you.
Thanks, it's a pretty place to visit.
Absolutely beautiful walking in the wood among the bluebells , thankyou for sharing .
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Lovely place very relaxing. Best wishes to you my friend🦇👍
I'm glad you liked it, thank you.
yep, I enjoy a peaceful walkabout
Me too, the magic of editing has removed the very noisy kids that were there!
I've been to Green Castle Woods but not this one. It looks worth the trip. Lovely images, pity I couldn't smell the bluebells 😊. Very relaxing. Thanks for sharing.
It is definately worth going and you can visit Llandyfeisant chuch at the same time if you park in Llandeilo and walk up.
Hope you don't mind placing my woodland on here ruclips.net/user/shortsG-ROeJC-dI4?si=xTUDpFduR_VcmGgn
"God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands" (Acts 17:24 KJV).
So beautiful. I love bluebells they are just so so pretty! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, it's one of my favourite times of year.
@@melblues3847 oh same here. I do love Spring 😍😍
Spring in West Wales is hard to beat 😊
Very true.
Lush
Thanks for watching, we try and visit here every year.
@melblues3847 the next challenge is to find one equally good????
@@karljlangford That will be difficult!
@@melblues3847 you never fail to amaze
Finally got to visit today. It's a picturesque ruin and had the place to myself.
You were lucky to have it nice and quiet, we had to dodge people to film it. There was more to see than I expected, I'm glad you got to visit.
Schönes Video😊
Danke
Very interesting video. Nice sharing my friend! I wish you a great time 🦇 👍
Thank you.
Clearly, you have never been in a hurricane! This is not a touch on a hurricane!
I am very thankful for that but this is rare in the UK.
What a gorgeous church. Amazing that you are apart of this. I adore anything Wales! and the architecture of churches . I can just imagine the history here. Fantastic job , thank you so much for the tour . :)
Thanks for watching. As for ghosts I heard a story that someone once saw two children in Victorian clothes by the church and that people have heard mysterious singing but I've not experienced anything.
Absolutely lovely and the possibilities are endless, I hope its future is secured for a great many years to come given the historical value, thanks for the explore Mel & Co 🙂
I'm hoping they can secure more funding from the lottery or something. It is a beautiful setting but very inaccessible unless you are on foot.
That's incredible. I find those old structures to be amazing. We don't have buildings like that around here
We are very lucky to have buildings like this in the UK. I'm guessing where you are things were mainly constructed from wood? Thanks for watching.
Love wales!❤❤❤
Me too, I'm lucky to live here.
Nature as anything.
Well done for being involved with this important project and thanks for the fascinating tour.
I wish we lived nearer so that I could do more. It makes a change to see a building being saved.
