Have to say, this is an incredibly weak field. It seems Connor Scutt & Wesley Plaisier were in line for this, but they've finished #1 and #2 on the PDC Challenge Tour money list, got their PDC cards for 2025 & 2026 and won enough $$$ as "alternates" in PDC events to make the Players' Championship finals in Minehead & the "proper" World Championship at Ally Pally. Those who chased them home in the Challenge Tour money list but have not made Ally Pally - the likes of Andreas Harrysson, Darryl Pilgrim and Danny Jansen - aren't replacing them at Lakeside. The recent Modus stand-outs aren't playing either. Nor are the leading North Americans, bar Taylor, who has a chance of winning here. Why no Jeff Smith, Spellman or Buntz? They've bussed in 6 Aussies. Ky Smith's dad isn't among them! He'd be close to favourite for this on his Ally Pally form of 3 years ago. If Corey Cadby was in this, giving every opponent a 50-point start and beginning every leg on 551, I'd back him to win it at 5/1😮. In all honesty, I'd say Beau Greaves is the best player at Lakeside😮. Playing all 48 of these, over six afternoons, "best of 11", she'd probably win 70% to 75% of the matches. More if it was a longer format.

Always enjoyed BDO darts - the official organisation - which brought darts to the top. Glad the WDF remain. Darts is now taken over , good for the players sad for the sport, it choked the game. If you love darts respect it's history - don't slag it off unless you are ignorant and selfish.

WDG. Wilted, dreary, fail. It will be a case of who is good enough , and has the desire, to go earn a living in the PDC, or , who is either not good enough or doesn’t have the balls to go play in the PDC.
