Firestone Winterforce 2 First Review!
Lots of snow in the video. Great video brother thank you. I had order the winter ice x but my buddy had these and his old vehicle and they were 1 year old. He just saved me $500. Thanks again.
I had a set of cheap winterclaws for 5 years the past 2 years the tred was bad and I had no problems so I think now that I have new firestones they will be great. I have a rav 4
To the point and informative. Tks for the review
Driving a little close there...
Black ice is the worst! Great ride you have to drive around safely. Good video
I've been looking into getting these. I was quoted 710 USD for 4 with install. That's about as much as I want to spend.
I drive an Outback with Nokian Hakka 9. Studded tires for the win especially during freezing rain. I was considering this studded Pirelli but are quick to get sold out. Either, Michelin X-ice North 4 studded or Pirelli Winter Ice Zero Studded will be going to the wife's Legacy depending on availability.
goodluck ! my brother just found some North4 Studded , I had Normand 7 and now im trying to find those Pirelli Studded (corolla here not the same ;) )
@@daniell.2907 which did you like best?
Where abouts are you from? I’m probably gonna buy those tires
He's in New Brunswick, Canada. I have the same tires on my outback and can stomp the breaks on ice and it stops like a summer's day. You can't beat these tires.
@@rhysbriden5777 as a resident of Quebec who just purchased these tires, that comment is very encouraging!
@@nathaniel4135 That is great! I am headed into my fifth year with them and they have very little wear on them. I do a lot of highway driving as well!
@@rhysbriden5777 wow!
@@rhysbriden5777 how's the noise level when riding dry highway?
Hi Chris, a pleasure to contact you, I can't see the video, would you be so kind to tell me where I can see it. 73 sebastian mendoza argentina
Hi there! It was a pleasure to talk with you. I’m posting the video now. You see it on the list. There was a lot of QRM because of the rain. Great talking to you my friend. 73
Hello chris!!! Navaho in eastern kentucky!! Nice to make contact with you on 27.420 lsb at 11:20 est. Hope to talk again soon!! Radio sounds FANTASTIC!!! love an icom radio. Equipment here is an apache labs anan 7000 dle mk2 with a homebrew amp using ldmos transistors producing about 1.2 kenworths 😉
Just bought these, will have them installed in a couple weeks. Are you still satisfied with them after a couple years of use?
I find that work great in the snow but not as good on the ice. If i bought them again I would of bought them studded.
You sound great
Great video, very informative!
Today I put Firestone Winterforce 2 tires on my wife's 2015 Crosstrek. No more white knuckle driving adventures for her. A wonderful combo to have in the snow ! Enjoy and thank you for posting this video !
johnpa2006 No prob! Bang for the Buck can’t go wrong
Are they studded?
Chris DeWitt non studded
That is a strong combination. Thanks for sharing. My last subaru did fine on all seasons. My current FWD car is unstoppable on winterforce 2s. Put them together....
No prob man! I don’t have mine studded but next time im gonna try it. Bang for the buck they are good tires.
What city are you in? Appreciate the update.
chris corbray Moncton, NB
Chris WR The rain. Do they do well on rainy days? I live in Lake Stevens, near Seattle Washington. It can rain and freeze and snow the same day sometimes. But mostly rain, turning into ice at night. I have that car so any information, and of course your reviews are helpful.
chris corbray I’m on the east coast of Canada and the weather changes from hour to hour lol. The tires do a good job all around and when it rains I must say they still grip good. The tread does a good job of pushing the rain or slush out. I would have to say that they are more of a snow tire then a complete ice but still do a good job. They are very quiet and the tires are 12/32 tread depth when new. I used them all last winter and I checked the depth this year and it’s only at 10/32 so they wear very good. If your in an area that rains a lot and freezes up to ice, I would get them studded. The tire isn’t as soft as others like the blizzak but still maintains a soft compound even we it’s really cold out. Most studded tires are a bit stiffer anyways to keep the studs pinned good and also they are more towards snow use but when studded then it’s excellent for the ice. I have driven on some of the worst black ice I ever road on and they did a good job. If studded it would of been even better.
chris corbray how are you liking the viking contact 7?
thanks I needed tosee how these were specifically on the crosstrek. sold
Are they studded?
Rich W non studded
They can be studded.
Did you have these studded?
hulk hogan Non Studded
did you have these studded or not?
hulk hogan Non studded. I figured it would be good enough since I have the awd, but studded would be better I was just trying to save a few bucks lol. Bang for the buck they are good tires! I took them off in the spring and they only worn down 1/32 so the tread is excellent
studs only help on ice. they're unbeatable on ice, but they actually make the car worse on dry/wet pavement. it's always a trade off. even the best studs are still loud as hell, and make the car ride and handle like shit, too, but damn, that ice traction.
hulk hogan Exactly they are only Beneficial on ice for ice traction. If it’s not ice, they are just loud and slows down your braking time. I would use them if it was mostly ice or if I lived next to the ocean that the chances of freezing spray is more. Even if the ice is too hard, the studs don’t act as well then compare to softer ice because after a certain temperature the studs don’t dig in as good, they act more like a skate.
There was a fair amount of ice around the area that I lived this year and they prob would of been better but they did good without the studs I must say. If there was about another 20% more ice I would of got the studs
Thanks for the video I have the original Winter Force on my car and they are a beast in snow. Love the Crosstrek. My next car for sure. I'll go for the 6-speed manual.
roxy dog it’s def a beast in the snow! Lol. I never used the original ones before but heard lots of great things about them. The twos are super quiet they don’t make much noise at all and the traction in all types of weather is great! I was going to get a manual as well but they never had any left at the dealership since it was end of season for the 17’s. I got a good deal on the automatic and I can use the paddle shifters if needed. The auto is better on gas then the manual but manual is more fun. I’ll put up some more videos later in different winter conditions.
If your gonna spend the money on snow tires go with the Bridgestone blizzak. A lot better tire than the winter force
joel young The Blizzaks would be better on ice but I have no issues with these. For the price point as well. I had blizzaks before on my VW Golf and to be honest I find the winterforce a smoother ride on dry pavement.
why when there way more expensive and the winterforce does a great job..
Blizzak is not available in my cars tire size.
Is your vehicle a diesel?
M Pel Gas
Hi Chris, just put these on my 2009 Accord last night. Replacing a half worn set of Cooper Weather Masters that looked better than they performed. So far, really good traction... especially with the snow we're getting in WNY.
redhat That’s good to hear! I had them out a few nights ago when we had really black ice and they worked great! Today is 15-20 cm of snow with high winds def a stormy day and the tires are excellent in the snow. On the Subaru it’s a beast haha. I’ll post some videos tonight.
Liking the tires I see! If that car had A turbo, I would get one. I can't part with my V6 just yet. It does excellent in the snow and I love how it runs. Nice video and thanks for sharing
Husqvarna 460 Rancher I do like them and I figure id put some videos out there for people to see since there isn’t any of the tires yet just incase they are wondering about the new design and performance of them. I was surprised with the crosstrek. Even though it doesn’t have much horsepower it feels to have more then what it has lol. I wanted to have good fuel economy, awd, and something that is good for any situation and it was the choice. I know what you mean though for people who like more power a turbo would def be a good idea. I think one day you will see it with a much more powerful engine or turbo. It would be a nice thing for sure!
Chris WR I have been looking for A review on these tires. I didn't want to be the first to give them A go. My original Winterforce tires have been excellent. I love the look of the Crosstrek. I'm also A RAV4 guy too, as I own 2 now and have owned 3. 2 have been V6's. Disabling traction and VSC in both, and using snow tires, have gotten us through every snow storm we've had, honestly pushing snow up to the mid bumper in some cases.
