Looks great! The Gen 2 PBC holds up really well. I have the Gen 1, its 14yrs old and still rolling like day 1... but the powder coating is coming off the lid and some rust

Congrats Drewcooks24, I got the same deal late last week. We cooked 6 racks of baby backs and 3 whole chickens cut into halves on Sunday. We fed ourselves and the neighbors.

I want to update the times a bit. After turning over, only cook for about an hour. It seems to be overcooking if pushing it longer.
Very nice garden! We are all trying to keep plants alive during the heat wave. My plants are still small, so I think they might not do much through the summer. At least I had lots of leafy greens and the fruit trees are doing well. What zone are you in? Do you redo your soil in your containers each year or just every few years? Just curious.
I am in zone 9. I reuse the soil in my containers. I usually dump it in a wheel barrow, and mix in some new soil. Then put it back in the container with granular fertilizer, and home made compost. The beds I just add more soil and compost as needed. I usually do this twice a year. In the Spring and again for fall planting.
@@kevinbossick8374 Sounds good! I am jealous of your zone and your beautiful tomatoes and peppers. I am in the high desert zone 8. I have put shade cloth pretty much over all of my plants. My plums that only had insect mesh got sun scald, but still, I love having a garden and there is definitely enough for me to eat.
@@yeevita yeah, the summer will soon destroy my garden as well. But I will start more in the fall.

It’s my first time building the soil like that. I am surprised at how well it turned out. And it was a simple process. Now I wish I planted more.

No. By August and September things are done. Maybe some peppers still. Then start again in October and November.

You garden looks great! I used to get lots of sun scald in summer, since I am in the high desert over here. I started using shade and shade cloth beginning about 4 or 5 years ago, in the hot months, and now have most of the garden under 30-50% shade most of the day. The garden looks much less stressed out.
