Nice stream and thanks for coordinating the event. It was fun. Really enjoyed it. In hindsight, i should have raced at 2pm but was stuck at work. Next year, i will take the afternoon off. The 2pm bunch was bigger and faster. P.s. for my name, just Y :) or Tio works too (though that’s uncle is Spanish)
Chaos monkey? I luv it!! Much more fun than just saying "race animator"
Looooweeeeeeze❤
Bloody awesome work 😊
Is it possible to make it with meetup and "keep all together"?
Yes, 100%.would just need to set the distance to around 104km.
My HR monitor loses signal when I’m standing up and sprinting, too much muscle 😆
Damn son, you're gonna have to get one that goes on your wrist then! :)
Thanks for the video! Can I ask what bar bag did you have and what was your experience with it on the Grail handlebars? I bought one recently and am looking for a good bikepacking setup..
Hey! On this trip I used the Apidura x Rapha barbag and it worked pretty well strapped to the bottom bar. I’ve since done this trip again but in reverse (video still to do but post on medium.com/akkord ) and used the Rapha barbag. Both solutions worked pretty well. Only limitation is that it can get in the way of mechanical shifters. If the bike had Di2 or AXS this would be no issue. Not sure the Rapha bag is still available but is the best one I have used so far. As I say, I also have Apidura bags which I typically use when I need to carry a lot more.
@@rhysrunsriot The Rapha bag is not available but it seems to have the same dimensiona as the smaller 9l Apidura handlebar bag so that should work too. I have Di2 so all should be good there. I even see on your pictures that it fits under the Garmin mount which makes me extra happy. I will definitely be looking for the Apidura the, you helped me make the decision (Apidura should sponsor you :) ) Thanks again!
@ Yes, if you clip it onto the bottom bar then it is super secure. You can see in my pictures on Medium (the Berlin to Koblenz) story that I was also able to attach a light and a battery to the bottom bar. This meant I was able to keep the top bar completely free. I have seen some people put lights and bike computers there but I wanted to avoid this and keep it completely free. Apidura are just the best - but I am also a massive fan of Gramm who make custom bags here in Berlin. Hope you enjoy the ride and get on well with that setup!
Oh, I have the L frame whereas I see you have the XL, so it might be a bit tight but looking at the pics it still *should* work...
@ your handlebar is 2cm narrower but as you have electronic shifting I think it will be okay. might have to limit how much you can pack in, but even I found that true for me :)
Nice video with some interesting insight! How often do you manage to get out on the roads compared to indoor?
Why would choose this music. Had stop watching after 2 minutes. Shame looked an interesting video and I’m a big Canyon fan (must be as I have 3 !!)
Haha, sorry you don't like the music. But I made the video on my phone and it was the only music I had. I like it, but appreciate it's not to everyone's liking. In the end, it's very 'me'.
@@rhysrunsriot sorry don't mean to be one of those haters !!!
@@danchesters8757 Haha, no worries :) I appreciate you took the time to watch in the first place.
This video would be better if it had some of your usual music
I totally agree, but I was banished to the bedroom to do the ride and didn't have the option. Don't worry, I'll have it sorted for the future :)
I cannot find part 2 and 3 of your tramp story on medium.com...
Hi Thorsten, very sorry, this has been on my to-do list to fix for quite some time. I originally published all the articles on Strava but missed some on medium. Anyway, your comment prompted me to tick it off the list - thanks for reading! Also, I'd forgotten the final part, so that's online now too :) medium.com/akkord/canyon-to-rapha-a-bikepacking-tramp-across-germany-the-final-part-a44447c5b875
4 likes VS 7 dislikes - it's going well then :)
How was the comfort? The reach looks quite aggressive
James Earwood it was crazy comfortable. I was riding an XL like my Aeroad which is also very aggressive. I guess I’m used to that position and it’s possible I might not have found it so comfortable over a much longer distance, but I don’t think that’s the case. I could maybe have ridden a large (like I do for an Inflite) and I’d be interested in trying it sometime but normally the L’s just feel a bit too compressed for me. Long limbs you see.
@@rhysrunsriot what are you measurements? I put mine into the Canyon frame calculator and they recommend a size medium - i'm 6ft.
@@mjjbuk72 I'm 6'3" and ride an XL. I could probably ride an L and possibly the Canyon PPS tool would tell me to ride an L too. Maybe then, an M is the right size but perhaps you are also on the edge between a M and a L.
@@rhysrunsriot Thanks Rhys!
