bro your sound is f'n awesome. Could you reveal what your mixing and mastering looks like? which IR etc.
Hey man, I have a few videos on the channel that show off what I do, but Ill make a new video for you :)
Bro I have the same guitar but yours sounds much clearer. Which strings do you use and especially which audio interface? Keep it up!
Hey man, I had the skinny top heavy bottom ernie ball strings. Tuned to Drop A and I record into a DI BOX. Then into my UMC U-phoria 1820. I make sure Im not clipping (with a Di box you shouldnt) Then I aim for around -12 db signal and thats what goes into my Amp sim. And then I increase the gain from the amp sim input into the amp block so it comes in hot. Then add in drive pedal ect. I have tutorials on guitar tones on my channel :) Hope this helps
Amazing
Sounding very bigly!
YEEHAWWWW
Every time I tell myself I don't need MORE drum libraries, this library comes up in my feed and tells me I'm wrong 😅
hahaha! Mate we will be buying products until we die
My Axe 2 sounds amazing. and my axe 3 I can't get to sound good to save my life. I followed your steps and it really helped. It's been really frustrating. I can't get the fucker to chug!!!
If you have active pickups, make sure the battery is new In your guitar. Also try and go for high gain amps, but have the gain quite low (around 3 to 4) and smash the DI into the amp with volume. You can do this with either drive pedals and increasing the level knob or both. :)
This was episode was fantastic! Amazing questions from you guys and very insightful answers from Nic. Would be great to get him back on at some point. Big up Distorted Views!
We appreciate it mate, thankyou! :)
You got some great videos mate, I'm your 500th subscriber🤘🤘🤘
Thankyou man! I appreciate it. I'm working on new videos soon :)
Great info here, a hidden gem , thanks mate🤘🤘
thank you :) !!!!!
instant sub. great video. i have a question, i play hardcore music but damn i am having trouble nailing a tone down and i see that youre using stl as well. im using STL tone hub, taylor young's preset. i was thinking if you can help model an amp using that to sound like King Nine or Crush Your Soul or Gods Hate. 3 bands i recommend you checking out! I cant seem to nail that clean heavy sound. almost all the time, its too fizzy at the top and just too much. any help would be appreciated!
Hey dude, So first bit of advice I would say is to avoid presets Unless you know how to teak them. You're better off making a tone from scratch starting from the beginning. Like your DI into your audio interface, make sure you aren't clipping. Make sure if you have active pickups in the guitar that the battery is fresh. If you want a tone like a certain band. research what Amps they use, and make sure you're using an amp sim that is simulating that specific amp. Also, Cab impulse responses for the speaker. Find a cab impulse response that is taken from the same Cab and microphone blend. Then Id just say, use less gain on the actual amp and focus more on an overdrive pedal boosting the DI into the amp. :)
what pickups are you using in your ibanez? ive got some EMG Actives but can quite get a good clean tone to work with VA's
Hey man, The pickups in my Ibanez are EMG 60 active ceramic humbuckers. I use the bridge pickup and always make sure my battery is fresh. They come in pretty hot, so I make sure Im not clipping that will ruin your tone. You can also use an EQ before the amp block and bost the high end to help brighten them up as well :)
Nice video bro!
Seriously? FL Studio? Each vst you use is more expensive than the DAW.... If you're not making synth or dance music, at least get Reaper.
I never understand comments like this. I can side chain in fl, I can route busses. I can do sends and returns. I can use 3rd party plugins / vsts. I can Automate anything. I can do everything any DAW can do. It really doesn't matter what DAW you use? If you like reaper then awesome man. Good for you lol.
@@distortedviewsband Idk. I'm sure FL can do it all. And of course use what you like. I just put FL in the sequencer category.
@@distortedviewsbandAbsolutely agree. I do think some daws can do more or do some things better than others (eg the Arranger in Cakewalk / Cubase, clip launchers if you like that sort of thing, FL had a rep for having the best midi piano roll editor, etc) but I could not agree more that if it works for you and you know how to get the best out of it it's absolutely the daw for you. Free lifetime updates from FL don't hurt either.
@@capoman1 man if it works, it works.
Excellent brother. Good info and perfect timing for this.
Solid overview, nice work dude.
Great vid man.
Shit man, it took you 4 moves to teach me throat singing. I’m very impressed
Thank you for the insights. Oddly enough, all of my favourite drummers use sheets in the creative process (or even on stage). This is the skill I will be working on in the future because it just makes sense I guess, one more tool in the repertoire.
Absolutely, it really helps the memorisation process and to really get hold of parts! Appreciate the support!
Is there a reason you used an actual noise gate block and not the input block for noise suppression? Great video and tone by the way. Thank you.
Nah man! they do the same thing as far as I know, I just like the idea of following a signal chain as if it was real gear. :)
Can it do stereo though?
I would record the tone mono and pan left / right in the Daw :)
thanks man, awesome content
one of my favorites drummer!😍
Same here! He is a beast and a legendary dude!
THIS IS HARDDDDD. just looking for some inspiration at 3 am and found this. PERFECT!!
Can I send to bili bili吗
Fractal AX8?
Thank you for this video... because I'm tired of these videos that show exercises that won't help you in any way to get to scream. I've been trying to do this for years and I always felt a lot of pressure in my head and pain in my throat, so I stopped and started thinking that I would never be able to get to that point... until I saw this video and a few others that talk about the same path as yours. and I realized that all this time I was trying to do it in a way that wasn't right... I tried this technique once and finally I heard a pleasant distortion in my voice... Let's practice!!!!
I've been trying to figure out how to help people learn to do vocals when they ask me how I do them, Im self taught with everything so I kinda just do it. This is a great video that puts it into easy to understand terms for new vocalists 🤘
Yo this is helpful. I got it right enough pretty quickly. Had figured out throat siging sounds already on my own beforehand, but never reaised i could build a scream on that. Thanks.
Cool !
do cab lab take wav ir files
Yeah man! Doesn't have to be axe fx related syx. Can be Wavs from packs you have downloaded. And its free! :)
As the editor of Musician Mansion and camera man, Justin's Peter Pan energy can't be matched. Great dude.
He’s a legend for sure! Grateful to have him for a chat. Must have been a cool experience filming and watching back all these awesome musicians!?
yooo dammn did u put the song on spotify or other platform? love the nu metal vibe
This doesn't feel an hour and thirteen minutes long That's a sign that was a very good podcast Keep it up good mates!
Appreciate the love! Definitely could have chatted forever....
This is a very good interview. Some really great questions.
Appreciate it thanks!
Good interview
Thankyou 🙏
I can get a throat singing sound and turn it on and off, just feels like a tension adjustment or like change in effort and closure, but it's not very comfortable. it's scratchy. Is this a placement issue or breath support or what?
Its hard for me to answer without hearing it my self. But It could be too much air, or squeezing too much. I never coughed or had a scratchy throat when learning this technique. Maybe try humming a soft note, and doing the throat singing in a relaxed way acting as a "car". Like revving an engine slowly. Keep it a relaxed hum and it should feel no different to humming without distortion, only difference is you will feel the vibration when you engage the throat singing. :)
I didn't even know about this plugin til now. Thank you for the awesome video man! The IR you provided sounds killer!
Same here man! haha, I been using Fractal audio for a while too so I should have known sooner. It's awesome, Glad you like the IR :)
Thank you for sharing this! I love the track!
Dear author, can I reprint to bili bili?
Brilliant video!
Needed this so much. Thank you
this is super helpful. thanks for walking through this
I was randomly screwing around the other week and figured out this method on my own using the throat/tube singing after screaming for over a decade, now this randomly pops up on my recommended.
Could you do a tutorial on the fry scream?? 🙏
I'm definitely going to do a video on fry screams and then Yell / pitch screams in the future. Im just researching first to ensure I give out the best correct information. but that video will come in the future :)
@@distortedviewsband Thank you, looking forward to it! :O
@@distortedviewsbanddef looking forward to that also
I've had the unfortunate fate of acquiring a love for Mongolian/Tuvan throat singing about 9 years ago as a young chap. Me and my mates did the throat singing the wrong way, it hurt. And I've unfortunately developed that bad technique where I can hold those hums for longer periods but with the downside of torturing my throat so I've completely stopped but I'm really struggling with trying to learn it again because I keep coming back to my old ways, where/what would be a good place to start from scratch?
Hey man, I would start by learning placement of the clean voice. If you can learn to place the clean voice up into the soft pallet and feel it resonate there with relaxed humming. When you engage the false chord it should feel just like you're turning on a muscle. No squeezing to make it happen, or pushing. Just like an On/Off switch. Nice, relaxed clean voice, and turning that vibration on and off. Don't even worry about the scream yet. Once you're comfortable with that, it will all click one day.
like and sub, I knew the throat bass was the key to false chord
as a beatboxer this is holy grail for me
Same here I've found out being a beat boxer it's easy to get scream I can relate how it took me years to get the inward bass I can do it for long hours now without hurting Myself
@@willi_wam.beatbox but man i still cannot scream im fed up 😭😭😭
Just stick to the basics it will just come on it's own the same way you learned other beatbox sounds
This video just made everything click for me, thank you so much!
