I dont like the Water Levels but thats because I am still afraid of these great white Sharks. :(
40 Fathoms was terrifying as a kid 😭
Why does the narration seem off? Like awful punctuation. Were ypu reading script while not having the context available? Rx tech mines, not rtx mines.
No script, all raw off the dome. However yes a couple of errors noted once the video went live
@TheTombRaiderChannel fair play, i thought it may have been ai at first. My bad for assuming that though.
Is my voice that robotic?! 😵😵
You love Tomb raider 3 more then me. I find many levels too long and tedious. Many of them have great memorable elements, but also long parts that are really a drag to execute. Ex : Crash site is fun, but then I remember the damn room with the ladders that takes forever to travel through. The Museum in Ludwig is fun, but then you have the underwater maze. The first level of London is pretty, but then you have the very confusing underground sequence where i have no idea what the switches I press are doing... and the robot thing... The Nevada Levels are really great though.
Yes lots of confusing levels and areas, not the best tomb raider compared to 2 and 3!
In the caves of Kaliya maze all you have to do is follow the green gra--
Can't believe how little love the TR3 T-Rex gets! 1) His vision is based on movement. 2) He does follow and sniff flares. 3) Spare raptors and they will fight.
Is that true?
@TheTombRaiderChannel Try it;-)
For some reason I'm never keen on playing the winter levels in TR2. Venice and Floating Islands are my favourites
Floating island is amazing!!
surprisingly playing tomb raider for the first time i didn't hate london!! aldwych was a unique level that i enjoyed it so much, i would suggest you wait for the remasters for the tr456 ranking, thank you so much for the video, my favourite levels are the jungle ones
Yes I am waiting for the remasters before ranking them! Jungle levels are great :)
Once again, I like your worst level. I mean, it was as far as I got a couple of times. I think it was finding the masonic lodge that got me stuck. Even so, love the aesthetic of it so much
Aldwych is a nightmare!
15. Cistern 14. Caves 13. Tomb Of Qualopec 12. Sanctuary Of The Scion 11. City Of Vilcabamba 10. Colosseum 9. Tomb Of Tihocan 8. City Of Khamoon 7. Obelisk Of Khamoon 6. Natla’s Mines 5. Lost Valley 4. Palace Midas 3. The Great Pyramid 2. St. Francis’ Folly 1. Atlantis Atlantis, if you ask me, is the highlight of the original Core Design series.
Interesting choices!!
Least favorite is probably Tomb of Tihocan- more tunnels and traps after slogging through the sewers is unwelcome. Wished they'd expanded on the final area a bit more. Favorite is also Palace Midas- it has the exact right balance of action, exploration, interesting environments, atmosphere, and puzzles. It's a 10/10
Tomb of tihocan is a strange filler level, I don't really understand it, palace Midas is brilliant and what a tomb raider level is all about!
Least is probably The Deck- it's huge, hard to navigate and it's never super clear which level you're even supposed to be on. Favorite is Barkhang Monastery- it has the same pacing and concept as Palace Midas (which is imo a near-perfect TR level)
The deck is a big open level with lots of confusion, Barkhang monastery encourages exploration in a beautiful area!
10:30 OMG! After sooo many years I never knew there was a block to pull and stop the trap there!!! Whaaaaat??
🤣🤣🤣 always learning!!
Was looking forward to this! Hard to say if I prefer TR 3 to 1, though after thinking about it, I think 3 has a few more levels that are truly excellent, so I'll give the edge to 3. 20. Aldwych. (Completely agree with you, easily the worst of the trilogy. Confusing, dull environment, goes on forever, and lacks much of good combat or platforming. Mason Temple was a cool discovery I guess, but there's hardly anything positive to say about it.) 19. All Hallows (Bonus level! Feels a bit confusing and half-baked, but to be expected. Happy it was just a bonus, even if it's not nearly as snooze-inducing as Aldwych) 18. Caves of Kaliya (The part from the drop into the snake pit and the end is excellent. Shame about the boring and confusing maze, especially the part with the boulders) 17. Thames Wharf (First half is confusing, but fun to navigate. Second half is a bit dull aside from the yellow robot puzzle, which might be one of the best puzzles. Ending is nice too) 16. River Ganges (Annoying how the less fun path is the one with the secret! Quadbike is fun, but the level doesn't seem too well designed for it) 15. City (Too short to be any higher, but a very neat way to handle the boss) 14. Antarctica (Smells a bit of Aldwych, but far less of a drag, and the environment is generally nice with the feeling that something is off) 13. Meteorite Cavern (Boss is rather brutal, but as the last boss, warrants it. Very cool environment, and a nice way to end TR3) 12. Temple of Puna (Does everything very well, but it becomes hard for the short boss stages to stack up against full length levels at this point in the list) 11. Lost City of Tinnos (Conceptually, it's the best in the trilogy. What's more mysterious than a lost city under the ice of the most mysterious continent? The build up to it was great, the atmosphere, absolutely everything...except it's a ball-ache to actually play, and it's not just because of the wasps. In another timeline, it could have been the best in the trilogy, but alas, not this one) 10. Area 51 (A bit confusing, but I loved everything else about it. Very well paced by holding off the saucer and especially the aliens towards the end) 9. Lud's Gate (THAT section - you know the one - is the worst part of the entire trilogy. Aside from that though, I kind of love it! Great mix of everything) 8. Jungle (Killer opener level, does everything right. Quite hard for an opening level, more so than The Great Wall if you ask me) 7. High Security Compound (A no weapons level that, unlike the others in the trilogy, took full advantage of it. Stands out in a great way, and there's really no level like it. Visually a bit dull though.) 6. Coastal Ruins (A great choice for your number 1, the first half on either path is truly excellent, but I think it gets a pinch weaker when you actually get to the village.) 5. Nevada Desert (Really sets itself apart from the Egyptian desert levels in other TR games. Love how it's paced, like the other Nevada levels, with the place getting more built up over time) 4. RX Tech Mines (The level is by far the best in TR history at being a 'cheek clencher', from both the mutants in the dark and the hypothermia dive. Mine carts are actually fun to me) 3. Temple Ruins (Only the 2nd level and harder than any level from the first game! That aside, a truly excellent microcosm of everything great about the series.) 2. Crash Site (Step aside Lost Valley, THIS is the dinosaur level! Thrilling combat, mixed in with some great puzzles and platforming. It just does everything extremely well) 1. Madubu Gorge. (I love how much of a battle against nature the kayak is. Aside from that, wonderful platforming and visuals, feels like a real top-notch adventure. Perhaps not as 'clean' as Temple Runs or Crash Site, but I don't mind its flaws, and what it does well, no other level can touch) The more I think about it, The South Pacific Islands is my favourite TR 'chapter'. Loved it from start to finish. Any 'chapter' in the trilogy that stood out to you?
Thanks for your comment, and great picks!! Yes 100% the South Pacific islands are my favourite, I just love the environment at the start of Coastal Village on that beach, truly beautiful, and for me the whole London area is an uphill battle!!
I think my favorite is The Deck, I know how odd it is but back then when I played TR2 for the first time, I was a kid obsessed with the Titanic, and little did I know Maria Doria was based off of it, so I'm still really fond of this level
It's clever they based it off the titanic, interesting level for sure!!
All of the London levels are a bit of a pain. As you say, controlling the water vehicles is very difficult at times and can be frustrating. I would happily see them removed. Most of the other levels are great. The last 4 levels are the best. Of these, the first two are my favourites. Antarctica and RX Tech Mines are amazing levels. I would really love to see this game with modern graphics. Don't change the gameplay and story (except for the London levels). Just give the graphics a huge face-lift. I know it won't happen, but I would love it.
They have already released a remastered version of the game with up to date graphics!!
Like we spoke on the last video. Not enough tombs in this game. However once again great level design, layouts, puzzles. Just didn’t care for most of the locations. The 1st chapter is my favorite and temple ruin is perfection
Agreed, no where near enough tombs . . . Temple Ruins is a great level but yes most of the levels are long and difficult!
I hate that place lol that one mummy is much faster for some reason
You're right 🤣🤣
Holy crap Aldwych is literally my favourite level. Another great vid though. KUTGW
Aldwych has the most loyal fans!! Thank you!! 😊
I assume you mean the lions?
Yes the lions!! 😄
Couldn't agree more with your No.1 choice! I always travel to Nevada first, because that's the golden rule in this game...but always get excited when finally heading to the South Pacific 🏝
South Pacific is amazing!!
I love all of the Nevada levels. I can't stand the London section.
Nevada levels are certainly cool and London the worst!!
Went from hating to loving both Aldwych and Lud's Gate.
What levels do you hate now??
@@TheTombRaiderChannel None in TR3, only wish Nevada had its own boss level too, could've been a trippy interdimentional one ala Floating Islands. Used to hate TR3. Still miss her edge swinging, the pickup icons, and more FMVs. But TR3 is now my favorite. Love the short anthalogy like chapters with their own stories surrounding the meteorite pieces.
Yeah they are way better on remaster, thanks to better luminosity , camera mode to navigate underwater and unlimited saves 😂
@EnvolCelest Probably. Yeah, helped me a lot. But I'm a sucker for thedark, colrful, pixelated style of vanila Ps1 version. Doing all the secrets atmforthe first time. Love limited saves and how insanely hard it can be:)
@8:09 - that was Tony's, not Willard's, broken raft.
So I've been told 🤣🤣
Love Temple of Puna! Such an awesome trap/boss level. Just kinda wish it was a bit longer. Just one or two more traps 🤭
🤣🤣 the level is a trap nightmare
Area 51 is my fave level from this game but I can also see why you ranked it low.
It is mostly because of the back tracking that takes place on the level!!
My top 3 would be 1. Nevada desert 2. Antarctica 3. RX-Tech mines
Nevada Desert is a great choice!!
Can’t wait for revelations that one was a brain twister towards the end.
My next will most likely be tr1-3 expansion levels ranked. I will do a 4-6 rankings once I have played through them remastered :)
Tomb Raider 3 is for me the hardest of all the Tomb Raider games.
Yes Tomb Raider 3 is insanely difficult!
Sophia Leigh and the F117 are pretty mad right now.
🤣🤣🤣 my bad!!
Luds Gate definitely traumatised me as a kid
Not just as a kid but even through to my adulthood 🤣
I love the underwater levels, it’s my favourite section of it 😂
No way!!! 🤣
@ yeah I must be a psychopath 🤣 cuz no one I know likes them
My favourite level in TR3 is Aldwych lol. Not a popular choice, I know. I also really like Natla's Mines in TR1.
You must be the only Aldwych fan!!
Amanda is Sophia Leigh confirmed🤩
Oops an error on my part 🤣
You did my girl Crash Site dirty 😭 lol love your videos
Look Crash Site isn't too bad!! 😂
Will you be doing last revalation and chronicles videos too?
Unsure yet, think I will do the expansion levels for 1-3 first :)
I could listen to you talk about Tomb Raider and all its detail for hours. Hope you'll do the same for the next games 😊
Perhaps once the remasters are released!!
Been really enjoying these ranking videos 😇
Thank you so much :)
Let me say something controversial but brave: I kinda LIKE Luds Gate? I agree with everyone that that water bit with those tunnels etc is a pain, but in general I like it....and, let's be honest, ANY level would look good after Aldwych
You're right, Aldwych makes every level look amazing 🤣 for me the underwater maze was a frustrating area. Thanks for your comment!! 🙂
How would you rank the Lara’s Home levels? For me it’s TR2 (Winston and the music player) then TR1 (classic) then TR3 (cause it’s so dark and too red for me yet has the best layout)
I would agree with this ranking!!
I enjoyed all of your rankings so far and the sometimes... ambitious choices which I respect fully, the only thing I would change is putting the title card with the rank and level name in front of your explanations instead of at the end. It would greatly improve flow and readability of the rankings since they usually pose as markers for a new train of thought. Another way of doing this could be just putting the rank and level name text on top of the gameplay. That said, your rankings are still interesting to watch and keep up the good work! EDIT: Also, at 8:32 you said Amanda instead of Sophia, I can see how you would confuse the name, since Natla, Sophia Leigh AND Amanda are all blonde women with a Bob Haircut 😂😭
Thanks for you comments, I did notice I got the name wrong after uploading video but yes they do look identical 😄. You are not the first to mention having the card at the start of the explanation, I may do this going forward. :)
My rankings (All Hallows + Expansion included): 1. Aldwych (Yes! I'll keep defending this level till the end!) 2. Temple Ruins 3. Shakespeare Cliff (An epic hidden gem) 4. Nevada Desert 5. Lost City of Tinnos 6. Thames Wharf 7. Crash Site 8. Area 51 9. RX-Tech Mines 10. Sleeping with the Fishes 11. Highland Fling 12. Madubu Gorge 13. Jungle 14. Lud's Gate 15. All Hallows 16. Antartcica (for me it always felt like a forgettable filler level) 17. High Security Compound 18. Coastal Village (Sorry :( ) 19. It's a Madhouse! 20. Willard's Lair 21. The River Ganges 22. Reunion 23. City 24. Temple of Puna 25. Meteorite Cavern 26. Caves of Kaliya
Nice to see someone else who loves Aldwych! My favourite level too.
Coastal village so low!!! I will agree with you here though that Shakespeare Cliff is a hidden gem, what a beautiful level 😍
I'd honestly switch Lud's Gate and Aldwych just for the underwater part of the former. Also that stupid stealth section before it if you want the secret. The wasps in Lost City of Tinnos are annoying, but they're also not infinite; you can stand in one spot and just keep killing them, they'll stop spawning after 20-30 of them or so. Tedious, but makes the platforming that much easier later. That said, I still don't really like the level. I do really like Area 51, though, and would have ranked it higher. A few corrections... 1. It's RX-Tech, not RTX. 2. The guy on the platform in River Ganges was Tony, not Willard. 3. Already pointed out by someone else, but that's not Amanda, it's Sophia Leigh. I've been waiting for this one, TR3 was my very first TR game way back on the PS1 and it's arguably my favorite in the series. It has my favorite locations and level variety, at least.
Thanks for comment, yes you're right - the whole stealth mechanic for secret is strange and unnecessary! I have noticed a few mistakes myself post upload and will need to be more diligent in future videos 🤣 Thank you!!
@@TheTombRaiderChannel No problem!
@@IidosGamingDen I had a bunch of flies trapped behind the last door just waiting for me to open it. They all met one single rocket first. Satisfaction.
I think the game spends too much time underwater and Venice level can be infuriating and last few levels bit boring . It’s good game, first one is better.
I do prefer the first one, and yes I think the underwater levels slowdown the pace of the game, whether for better or worse.
I only found your channel today and have already watched all three rankings. My favorite level in TR3 is Temple Ruins. I really hope we get more rankings, perhaps of other games as well :)
Temple ruins is a great level, I will certainly be doing more rankings. Thanks for watching :)
I originally played this on PS1 and unlike the first 2 games, I eventually lost interest and never finished it, but I recently returned with the remasters and played 1, 2, and 3. I'm still about 4-5 levels from finishing 3. The main thing about the remasters compared to how this looked on a PS1 is that it makes a huge difference having the graphical improvements. Levels like India and Coastal Village are vastly improved. The environments they wanted to paint are now how they should be and that made the game much more immersive and fun to play, but some of these later levels in TR3 are so bad I have, for now, lost interest. I think I'm at Lud's Gate currently. That section of the game is pretty terrible. From Thames Wharf to Aldwych to Lud's Gate ughh.
Thanks for your comment :), yes I agree with you - the entire London section of tr3 is long, and it requires a special kind of patience to get through Aldwych and Luds gates 😂. The graphical improvements definitely add to the beauty of tomb raider, even more so that it already was.
Would definitely disagree with Area 51 being so low haha
Thanks for your comment, for me it's too enclosed and I really disliked the back tracking! What's your favourite tomb raider 3 level?
I'm surprised to see Madubu Gorge so high up (?) I hate the kayak with passion, controlling that thing is a NIGHTMARE XDDDDDD The level is really nice looking but damn
Thanks for you comment, for me it's the sheer uniqueness and beauty of the level that got it it's place, however I like the south Pacific island levels in their entirety so may be a bit biased. I agree, that Kayak can be a real pain sometimes 😁
I will cheat and pick a favorite location, because one level is too hard, and that is Antarctica, I get the most isolating feeling from exploring the mines out of all games, which I love, and City of Tinnos has grown on me with the Remasters, it has got that "classic" puzzle structure which is always fun. But hey, no problem in choosing the worst level, which is no suprise - Lud's Gate, I detinitely prefer to fly than swim with the UPV lol
Antarctica is a great location choice!! They nailed the feeling of isolation and curiosity. Yes, luds gate and Aldwych I think are no one's favourite 😂😂
RX -tech mines is My favorite level because no level in all classic tomb raider games like it
how would you rank all hallows
True, I didn't include all hallows as it is somewhat of a secret level, for me it was too short, it would be somewhere between 12-19
My guess is that the expansions to tomb raider 1, 2 and 3 get a ranking next since we still have to wait for the remaster of tomb raider 4, 5 and 6
What would you like to see me do next?
@@TheTombRaiderChannel let´s start with unfinished business followed by golden mask and then lost artifact
I may combine all three!!
