Open headers Chevy 350 V8 sound! Hedman Long Tube 1 3/4" Headers on 1965 Impala
Hedman longtube headers singing their song! This is the Hedman 66003 1 3/4" set for the 1st gen Camaro, fits the full-size 1965 - 1970 B-body perfectly! Both are rear steer models. The engine is a Chevy 350 TBI with big valve 305 heads, flat top pistons and running on a LPG (propane) Impco mixer. CR should be somewhere between 9.5:1 and 10:1. It's mounted on a 1965 Impala 4 door hardtop, and will need some work to clear the crossmember, or run it underneath with reduced ground clearance.

Short demo of my 1965 Chevrolet Impala with true dual exhausts and Thrush mufflers. It's a 350 small block chevy 1987 - up TBI crate engine, the Impala was originally a 230ci 6 cylinder. This is how my Mercedes Benz W124 from 1987 with the M103 3.0 engine accelerates from 0 to 100km/h. It's running on a Megasquirt ECU. I am not satisfied yet, this is a rough 10 seconds, the 300e with automatic transmission should do 7.8 seconds to 100km/h. But, according to specs and tests, it already takes 9,6 seconds to 110km/h. Quick fly-by with my old Toyota Yaris 2003 1.3 with the 2SZ-FE engine. It is the PH2 facelift french made model with original Japanese Fujitsubo (JASMA homologation) exhaust. My 1968 Chevrolet Caprice. The Caprice had the original 327 ci small block Chevy with Ram horn headers / manifolds, H-pipe and dual 2" exhausts with a total of 2 cherry bomb resonators and 2 straight-through style mufflers. Heb je voorderest alles standaard geen andere vertanding met lange as
zat destijds een 1:8.5 vertanding in. Bromfiets is 7,5:1 of 6,7:1 en Snorfiets 1:1.

@ZIP3-e1e You have to modify the flange for it to fit, as the zip 100 uses the bigger 50cc 4V style exhaust flange. IIRC there was hardly any noticeable difference at all, though throttle response definitely was better.
@ alright and how did you adjust the fit for the flange i got a zip 100 and wanna put the same exhaust on there.
@ZIP3-e1e the actual exhaust port is much smaller on the 50cc 2v, so matching that up to the 50cc 4v/100cc 2v style without leaking is a challenge but you'll get that working. The bolt holes on the exhaust flange are too narrow. you will need to "open them" on the outer sides and use washers to fit on the bigger spacing of the cylinder head. that's all.

Yes, that's normal, it will only start in 1st gear with the pedal to the floor from a standstill. To start in first gear, you can manually move the gear selector to postiion "2" and then back to "D" while stationary, and it will use 1st gear even when slowly rolling away. Or, of course keep it in "2" and manually shift up.

this is does not run on LPG, it is modern electronic fuel injection instead of old mechanical fuel injection
Hi, I am having the same trouble, did you ever rectify the stumble/ misfire?
It was more of a slight stumble, no real misfire. Yes I've had it run a bit better with a new more solid homemode crank sensor bracket, the older one was able to vibrate and as such drift all of the timing, i.e. injection and ignition. Though these engines are never absolutely 100% clean running at lower idle RPM's without load. Come to think of it, I replaced the harmonic balancer with the trigger wheel, which doest help idle quality either.

@@jaysniper6800 nee, het is plug and play onder een 4t 2v zip. het enige dat kan verschillen zijn de stekkers voor de startmotor, zip 100 gebruikt een 180er startmotor

Is that yours ? How did you clear the driver side header ?
yes! these are Hedman 66003 sbc 1st gen camaro headers. the 67-69 camaro is a “rear steer” car just like the impala, so the headers are already in the correct shape around the steering box. One bend hit the engine mount bolt, cut a few mm’s off of the bolt and it was plug and play after that. the angle around the transmission mount was awkward but due to the ball-seat collectors I could clear them. passenger side was plug and play too.

@@1965bruiser I expected a low-end torque loss, but to my surprise it was equal if not better. Mid to high end is crispier and feels much stronger, but the previous manifolds had an awful exhaust made of scrap stuff so thats no surprise. I have a 350TBI with modified 305 heads with bigger valves, flat-top pistons, stock TBI cam. CR should be about 10:1 - 10.5:1. It runs on LPG fuel only, so no gas or hybrid G3 fuel system.
@@BaasYT wow that’s sweet man ! my mechanic was able to put the Doug D308SS stainless long tube headers on my 65 327 Impala I was surprised he said he didn’t have any trouble just had to modify the engine mounts a bit Haven’t driven mines yet he’s still adding trickflow heads and a camshaft and he put a hei distributor hei spark plug wires some accel header spark plugs and a edelbrock air gap intake and a old school cherry bomb glasspacks ooooooo it’s gonna wake up big time !
@@BaasYT mines is also going to be about 10 to 1 with the 60cc heads and the flat top pistons with valve reliefs that’s more that enough compression for me !

Why do you want to decat the car? If you want to, the older K6 regulated 300e does not have a cat and uses a muffler in the middle instead of the big cat. if you still use ke-jetronic you need to have the different EZL module and possibly ECU. Ignition timing and fueling is slightly different, as is the warmup procedure.

just happened with this setup. it’s mainly the exhaust, and the bigger camshaft and high compression should also help.

It's a 60-2 wheel, in place of the harmonic balancer. It was part of the K-jet killers kit.

Hi Felix! This is just the exhaust unbolted up to the manifolds. In my other video's I have a mix of the rear muffler deleted, which is on most video's, and some without any mufflers, so straight from the mid section after the catalytic converters. It is back to full stock system at the moment. For the best sound, you could remove the middle resonator / muffler and use a sports rear muffler.
