    Do you feel like the front one is needed or just upgrading the rear is good enough?

    • @happyhills_garage
      @happyhills_garage 7 дней назад

      I have been liking the Cusco rear bar so far. The bar is maybe 1mm larger, so not much more in terms of diameter, but the Cusco bar is much more solid and stiffer. I will say as well, that I wouldn't mind having a better front sway bar to go along with the rear bar. I think having both will optimize the platform exceptionally well. All that being said, in my personal opinion, I think the rear bar gives the car a good amount of needed rotation where you can keep your rear tire pressures lower than you would need to do with a front bar.

    • @happyhills_garage
      @happyhills_garage 7 дней назад

      Also, I do plan on making a video in the near future showcasing the differences between the car with stock bars, only rear bar, only front bar, and then also with both bars. Mostly to see the visible differences in body roll from the outside.

    You want to check for leaks after you fill the engine with oil and start the car. Until you have oil pressure you won't see a leak unless you forgot to put the drain plug back on or use a drain plug gasket. Speaking of that, you didn't mention it but it's cheap and I always change it at every oil change. My dealer even tosses them in when you buy an oil filter. I used to use Mobil 1 but after seeing so many comparisons and tests done on oils it didn't do that well so now I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum and I actually like it more. I always use an OEM oil filter too since they cost less than aftermarket filters. I've also found that tightening the oil filter with my hand as much as I can works well and I've never had a leak over the years. But I do recommend a better quality oil filter wrench! I've had those band type not work well when trying to get off a very stubborn filter that someone else put on too tight. I love this one, best one I've ever had. Oil Filter Wrench - amzn.to/3tJrTEi

      That amount sounds about right if the flywheel was included in the cost. At least you were able to get to over 50k miles before that happened, but still an unfortunate occurrence for sure.

    Just flushed my break fluid on my Corolla GR last week at 20k miles. Did the same way on a lift. My pads still have 60% left on front and 80 percent left on rear pads. Will be upgrading to Giro rotors all 4 and Endless low dust pads very soon.

      @happyhills_garage Yeah, I do a lot of highway driving, so my pad still have lots of life in them. But yeah, giro discs , Paragon floating rotors, or ebc rotors. I will get one of the 3 for the front and rear with Endless low dust pads. Did you get the Endless low dust pads? How are they so far as break dust and overall performance. My Corolla GR had upgraded Sxth Intercooler and full custom charge pipes and makes 303whp and 310tq on a mustang dyno very happy with the power. Btw how did you resurface the rotors?

    you had no issues getting the rotors resurfaced? As a rookie who doesn't know anything, I've heard you can't resurface slotted rotors, and even if you do the amount of material removed typically throws the rotors below minimum spec thickness as theyre not produced with a lot of extra material in the first place. Interested in eventually doing the same, as new rotors shipped to canada look to be near 2000$ from japan or closer to 3000 from a dealer...

    • @happyhills_garage
      @happyhills_garage Месяц назад

      @TheAphtar fortunately, no issues! I was also a bit skeptical/concerned at first as I had also heard from a number of sources online that the two-piece and/or slotted rotors are not typically resurfaceable, and mainly for the reasons you just laid out. I changed my brakes at just before 20k, and realllly didn't want to spend a couple thousand, just like you, on new rotors lol. I had a local O'Reilley's do the resurfacing, and they turned out great! They took them in with no problems. Now, it may come down to how bad the rotors are to begin with, but unless there is a bunch of deeper grooves or something, I'd say one resurface should be good. The brakes feel more than fine with the rotors resurfaced, and they are looking fine from my inspections after I have been running them in autocross, etc, the past couple of months as well 👍 Regardless, I'd say it's worth it to take them in and see what a shop says before paying big money lol.

    • @happyhills_garage
      @happyhills_garage Месяц назад

      @irj8998 awesome to hear that you're interested in autocross! Typically, one day (Saturday or Sunday) will run you $70-$80 depending on what club it is with at the time. If you run both days with SFR, you will get a $10 discount! There are two main clubs that run at Crow's, San Francisco Region SCCA, and American Autocross Series. You can find both of these clubs online to see their event schedules, how to register, and beginner info as well! I'll post the links to those in a separate reply here as well. There are specific classing rules, but as a novice I wouldn't worry too much about that to start. We will help class your car in the beginning based on what info you tell us 👍 As far as requirements go, make sure your car is in good enough shape. You'll want to make sure you have enough tread on the tires, pad left on your brake pads, brake fluid has a good pressure, and your battery is properly secured (doesn't move at all). Other than that, if you have a helmet, cool, but if not, there are rental helmets available! If you are on Facebook as well, then feel more than welcome to join the FB groups as well; which I'll post in the following comment as well 🤙
