Because the aliens were so advanced, they now have weapons for conflict resolution that cause disable enemy weaponry with minimal damage. So what were their weapons like when they were not so advanced? They clearly know about melee, powder, chemical, and directed energy weapons. Why don't at least some of them have memories of using such weapons themselves? And the fact that we have a concept of war crimes means that we too have rules to limit damage to an acceptable minimum. How is this different from that of the aliens except that we're a few thousand years behind? The human ambassador crowing over human war crimes at the aliens is like a gorilla bragging about the different ways he dismembered a young one who challenged his leadership at humans who already discovered Monarchy, The Republic, Feudalism, and Democracy.

To me, pets are family, we must understand their way of love to show them we love them, with cats im calm, i pet them when they want to be pet, and i hand feed them to gain their respect, i also slow blink to say "i love you" or like that to them. With dogs i pet them, i play with them until they get tired, i cuddle with them sometimes. I grew up with dogs too so I under their body language better then cats
