    Its not clear to me how people get the ropes up there to start the climb

    All those climbing these ancient trees are contributing to their demise. One or two scientists help us to understand what is taking place up there in the canopy. However - do you remember a teacher pointing out to you as a young student - if one person picks a flower, ok, but if everybody picks a flower, they will all be gone! And your teacher was right. If you truly revere these trees, admire them with your mind, and let them be here for your great, great grandchildren!

    A 300 ft. tall Sequoia?? Name and locate just one. These Sequoia tree climbers are universally disliked by the people who live in or near Sequoia trees as the pompous pain in the a-----s they are.

      Hi Don, if you look at the beginning of the video I am using what is called a bigshot. It’s basically a giant slingshot on an eight foot pole. I shot a weighted throwline up first, then used that to pull my climbing line up and over a branch.

    My question is how did u get the rope up there? A helicopter?

    • @Jeffopar
      @Jeffopar 2 года назад

      I used something called a big shot, which is a large slingshot on the end of an 8 foot pole. It’s used in tree work to set a throw line that you then use to pull up your climbing line. I can accurately set a rope up to about 100 and 25 feet or so. There is a picture of me kneeling down pulling down the slingshot in one of the first frames of the video.

    Congratulations bro! I hope to do that someday myself. Those trees are so majestic. May God protect them from greedy fools, the same sorts of fools who fell that 385 foot tall Sequoia in Northern California back in the 40’s. I used to live about 2 hours away from the giant sequoia trees when I was 7 years old. My parents managed a restaurant called Snowline Lodge. It was so precious living in that area. I live in Baldwin Illinois now. (Southern Illinois.) Thank you for sharing this video. That drone shot is remarkable

    There must be reason why he did not show the very first throw. They all are fucken fakers on posted videos on internet.

    • @Jeffopar
      @Jeffopar 2 года назад

      I didn’t show the first throw because there wasn’t one. I showed a picture of how I set the climbing line with a “big shot” in the very beginning.of the video. If you know anything about tree work you know that this is the most accurate way to set a line at difficult heights or tight locations. My wife was taking pictures at that point and began to shoot video with the drone once I was climbing. What exactly do you think is fake about this video?

    • @Byrod1
      @Byrod1 2 года назад

      @@Jeffopar Yes I do not know everything about climbing trees that's why I watched your video. Video starts with you hauling a big rope by small rope. How the small rope got up there ? You walked up to the tree and small rope waited for you ? That is why it is a fake video for me. You do not have to show a half a day of time you shooting small rope up there but you have to show how it is done to be real.

    • @Jeffopar

      It was an absolutely amazing experience. Get out there and at least visit the redwoods. My wife and I were out at Sequoia National Park and Yosemite on vacation and I decided that I had to climb a redwood. We flew back out (from NC) the following month with my gear. I found this tree on forest land, its not protected like national park land.
