ElectraChime Long Tube Doorbells and Door Chimes
why are there 3 tubes but only 2 sounds?
I imagine that the repeating chime must’ve been annoying as hell for whoever had to hear it.
Beautiful chime. I have this in my home, mine is 1959 December-and it’s original to the house.I grew up in that house and every time the doorbell goes off I have this flood of memories of my childhood and being obsessed with that doorbell. In fact, that chime is the reason I play the piano-when u was 6 years old I went to the piano and tried to play the sound the doorbell chime made.
Thanks for sharing
@@electrachime3718 you are very welcome. Also, do you know how I could obtain more mid century NuTone bells because my goddaughter Abigail loves older doorbells from the 50s and 60s but I can’t find any and if I do they are so expensive and I can not afford it because ER docs aren’t getting paid well at the moment
@@electrachime3718funny thing is, mine sounds lower pitched than this one. Perhaps if I share a video with the doorbell museum via gmail you could explain why that is.
Bri’ish doorbell, mate?
here because of sledge hammer (didn't get the joke, had to look up the reference)
Could it be that my doorbell shopping is finally over? I know this video is 9 years old, but I've been trying to find a quality doorbell for my new home for 9 months. Nine dang months in my custom build and I cannot find anything but absolute garbage on the market. This looks like what I've been searching for. Are the doorbells only available with the ding-dong sound or do they come with the Westminster tone as well? It isn't a deal breaker. Quality is my #1 mission. You don't put a crappy $40 doorbell in a really nice home. It just makes a really bad first impression in my opinion.
I have an 8 tone Edwards Claridge C-50 door chime. Wherecan I find a wiring diagram for it. I get a single chime only when the front door button is pressed. The side and rear door buttons have been disconnected. Thanks.
Can my Edwards C50 Claridge 8 note chimes be made to work again. Can I service the unit?
Yes, however I would have to see photos of your mechanism and chime. Contact me at ElectraChime@gmail.com
@@electrachime3718 I have the same edwards c-50 CLARIDGE. who can refurbish it for me?
I have one of these with 4 chimes. Thanks to this video, I now know the Brand. Thank you. Cheers, Doug
Where can we buy this one new?
Hi, This is Ali from Pakistan, I need this in Pakistan.
my tubes ring too fast. how do i slow them down? thanks.
The dwell between the notes depends on how long the push button is depressed.
Can I find parts for it please
Still selling Avon today, just like Mama did. There's a reason they've been in business for 137 years!
To me, this is the perfect sound of a door bell.
Very cool!
That’s a long, drawn out decay. Much longer than traditional cast bronze bells.
Indeed.
love it...thanks for uploading
Why is there a third unstruct bell/tube in the center? Resonance?
the third bell is decorative. it provides a more pleasing look.
Is it possible to find one like this without the Vibrato effect?
I’ve never seen one without the vibrato feature.
@@robertdobrin9475 Does the chime still play without the rubber band spinning the butterfly? That theoretically should get rid of the Vibrato effect.
Perhaps, although I'm not sure why you would want to do that.
@@robertdobrin9475 I prefer the simple chime without the wobbly vibrato effect that is very 60-70s (reminds me of old James Bond movies for some reason).
Richard Pryor brought me here XD
Can you tell me what the value of one of these are I have one
€150,-
150 is a bit high. However an item is worth what somebody will pay.
I really like the sounds produced by these old bells with sound tubes. These days, they would be prohibitively expensive. But I really don't understand why manufacturers don't release electronic versions of that doorbells, sounds recorded on a flash drive, with the same sound quality.
Making a speaker system that sounds similar is probably more expensive than using actual brass tubes.
Did you hear what happened to the Avon lady? Max Factor.
Love these old commercials.
Ding Dong, Avon calling. Get the fucking door open - James Hoxworth
I love these bells. I have a 1957 model in my 1940 built home. Sadly its missing the cover. Any leads on a correct cover? Or even a close match, ive been looking all over the net. thx

Thank you very much. My grand parents had this door bell. I don't think that was the same tune.

Deagan also made electric chimes for use both inside churches as altar bells, and outdoors with large tubular bells for towers.

It's terrible. I had a pipe bell like tis in my newly bought house from 1976 in The Netherlands. And disconnected it and put it on my workbench there. One of the guys remodeling my house just threw it in a corner and now it is damaged. I even found a spot where i wanted to fit it and let the electrician put a cable to that spot. Don't know what to do. a parts seem missing... :(
Send a photo of the mechanism to info@electrachime.com and I'll let you know if I can help.
