Hey bro i hope for a reply, Just got the same reel and size hows it working
@@mustafaomar8010 best reel I’ve ever owned!
@@TheSurfFishingGuy appreciate it.
That drag needs servicing badly. Nice catches!
What sizes mirror lures great fishing
@@walteroquinn757 2 5/8” and 3/8oz. It’s the 17MR version
Great fishing information. What size penn rod is this? Medium heavy? Penn 4000 reel?
@@mr.brownplumbing thank you! My rods are 10ft Star Aerial. And the Penn reel is a 5000 series. I do have a penn rod that’s 9ft but I prefer the 10
These are a great lure to throw during the mullet run. I change out the trebles for owner inlines and add a small split ring to the nose.
If you ever want to try some of my stuff let me know!
Lady fish, poor man's tarpon!!
Need to get a pin fish for Fred
Where are you, West Florida

is the weight on the Mirrodine that you're using a 1oz?
@@chrissimmons6172 3/8oz
Thanks. Great video!!
I like the MirrOlure Catch-2000 better. Same sink rate. Cast further and pulls through side current better because of its cigar shape. I think MirrOlure really under marketed it when they released it in 2000. Lastly.... I'll bet everything I own that you clamp your barbs down. There's NO WAY you pulled that many hooks by hand otherwise. Color? I use the closest color on the rack..... green, pink, red/white, etc. All colors are the same. That's been my experience. A general rule for MirrOlures... When you think you're reeling slowly enough, REEL SLOWER. I tapped the thumbs up button to feed the algorithm monsters 👍.
The 2000 is what I used to throw years ago. I'm glad you mentioned that bc I need to throw them more often. Its all about what you have confidence in. As far as the barbs, I don't clamp them down. They are straight out of the package. But I do have a few scars on my fingers from getting hooks stuck in them.. Thanks for the thumbs up!
@@TheSurfFishingGuy I clamp always.... Try it. You'll never go back. I sub'd. Look forward to future clips.
That's my problem. I reel pretty fast and don't get many bites. I gotta slow 'er down. Inline Owners over trebles.
Those are the days with good memories
Yeah when I heard the drag I didn’t think it was a trout. Trout don’t run in straight lines. Love the mirrodine. In the winner I throw softdine xl which is a plastic mirrodine.
Love the video. Im looking to get back there next year. What pound line you running? Bass fisherman here in the midwest but love the inshore/nearshore fishing.
@@mattmeininger699 15-20 lb braid to a 10-12 lb flouro leader

Aww shit, got that BATTLE III DX!
You handle pot lickers like that dude better than I do.
I wanna visit Alabama now
I’d love to eat them trouts!!!
You been out this year at all?
Been catching a lot of largies at North Bend Lake. I haven’t fished for smallmouth yet this year but I plan to in a few weeks
Where are you fishing at what state thank you,

Lol yeah we call them all Fred.
What weight is the lure?
Fred needs a girlfriend

Do you keep any? Specks are a deliciously white meat.
Great Video. New sub from Texas
Thank you!
Dang good day, Brother. Good vid!
Thank you!
Awesome video. I can't wait to try this Twitch bait out, thanks!
Plum darn Keeler!hey from NC
your drag is too loose. 4000 size penn can take more than this.
It can but trout has fairly soft mouths and will rip the hooks out if the drag is too tight
reel can but line might cant
makes it more fun though 🤷♀️
it's a reel not a winch
@@JohnDoe-ih3xi there always has to be that one guy.. and you decided for be him
So are the GoPro camera waterproof? I"ve seen other RUclipsrs freak out when they accidentally drop theirs lol. Great video
Thank you! They are waterproof up to around 30 feet
Great video! Whats your favorite color in the Mirrodine line-up?
Thanks! My favorite and the one I throw 90% of the time is the green back/silver belly.
Awesome video bro. What a fun day
What lures are you using?
A suspending Jerkbait, it’s a mirrolure mirrOdine
Where you fishing brother? I live right on the coast in Charleston South Carolina. And we have great fishing here, and shrimping. One of the great things of living on the coast is that you will never starve. Food is all around you! 😂
This is in south Alabama. It’s hard to beat fresh seafood!
Shout out from Murrell's Inlet. True statement on the comment. Even though summer, got a few gator trout, live bait 😎✌️👍
in wyoming i caught a massive trout 29in 7 lbs
Those are freshwater trout, these are saltwater
Dang, that was some pretty good fishing, despite the rough conditions! I read pomps are less prevalent during the hot days of summer, but you and others have been catching them regularly. I’m hopeful the conditions will be good in Miramar/Destin next week. Btw, do you bleed pompano? I’ve seen some do and others apparently don’t. Just wondering what your opinion is, and if bleeding a fish, is it always done immediately before putting it on ice, or can it be done after the fish is dead but chilled? I presume the former, and not the latter, but I’d appreciate any knowledge you have about bleeding fish. Thanks! 🤙
I personally don’t bleed pompano but I know a lot of people do. If you’re going to bleed a fish it’s best to do it pretty quickly after it’s caught. It takes a lot of the fishy taste out of the meat
Love the videos man. I'm coming to gulfshores tomorrow for the weekend. Are the big Jack's running what lures should I throw on the beach
Thanks bud. The jacks have been running at the point of fort Morgan. Big poppers or spoons will work. It’s hit or miss but when they are there they will crush a Topwater popper. Good luck 👍🏽
Is that total length or to the fork. In Florida it's to the fork. 11 inches. I told my buddy they would be chewing. Dang missed a great opportunity. Alabama orange Beach is that where your catching them?
@@lavonm1722 12 inches total length in Alabama. Yes I was in Orange Beach
Great video!
Dude, I’m subscribed! I’ve been binge watching gulf coast surf fishing vids for my trip to Destin. I’ve seen a lot of vids from you guys in Alabama. The beach you were fishing here is one of the coolest beaches I’ve seen. My family will be seriously considering making our next vacation to the Dauphin Island/Fort Morgan/Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area. It’s beautiful there! I’m digging your vids! You and Justin Reed over in Pensacola are getting traction! Very family oriented, and knowledgable! Btw, you’re tip about walking backing with a big fish is great info! Apply the gentle tension! Keep up your great vids! 👍
Thanks man! My goal when I started was to keep it a family oriented channel. Our beaches are very beautiful and full of fish! I would recommend coming in May, you can catch limits of pompano pretty easily then.
Nice video, but Colton should not have dragged the jack across the sand by its tail causing unknown damage to one side of it's gill rake as you were planning to release the fish.
Yes I agree with you, the fish shouldn’t have been dragged. We won’t let that happen again. Thanks for the comment 👍🏽
I enjoy watching you gulf coast guys surf fishing. I’m fairly knowledgeable about surf fishing, but only get to do it once every year or two. As it happens, I’m gonna be in Destin Fl next week, just days after hurricane Idalia rolls through the region. Destin will be spared, as the epicenter will be well east, around Mexico beach. Hopefully no one will be killed or seriously injured. Not to be insensitive, but are you familiar with surf fishing after a big storm/hurricane? I wonder if more or less fish come towards shore, do bigger fish, or species not normally found near shore temporarily move in closer. Or perhaps it’s the opposite, or a mixed bag depending on the species. I understand Pomps are typically less prevalent this time of year, and Spanish, Blues, Hardtails, Jacks, Reds, and sharks are more drawn to the warmer water. But what happens after a major storm? I know this might be a stupid question, but I’d appreciate any insight you have. 🤙
This is a very interesting question. In my opinion it really depends on how close the storm hits to the area you are fishing. A big storm will normally dirty up the water which usually makes surf fishing tougher. Also, the barometric pressure will raise significantly after a storm and that will make fishing tough too. If the storm doesn’t turn the surf into chocolate milk than you will still have a chance at catching fish but I wouldn’t expect great results. As far as fishing this time of year, you can still catch pompano, reds, ladyfish, sharks, Spanish Mack, blue fish, etc.. we are still catching good numbers of pompano in Alabama. I caught a bonefish a few days after a tropical storm hit and I’ve never caught one in Alabama before, so yes it will also displace fish from their normal areas. Hope this helps 👍🏽
@@TheSurfFishingGuy Thanks for the info! Lol. I gotta say catching a bone fish that far north and from the shore is the last thing I’d expect! Regarding pomps, you’re echoing what I’ve seen from the few fishing reports available. They’re still biting. Looks like the western edge of the storm will probably be around 100 mikes west of Destin, around Cape San Blas to Mexico beach, so hopefully the water won’t be too bad. Thanks again for your help! 🤙
second comment, all the fish you release back, turn those into shorts with some music behind it. people eat that up and you will get 2000 views easy with a bunch of subs.
Preciate it. I’ll try that out 👍🏽
Now that’s some thinkin’, Lincoln! 🤙
you got the intro down with a fish ripping line, gets me hooked. keep it up!
Nice video, do you ever put procure on your lures?
I’ve never tried it. Should I?
