Is this dubbed? The sounds seem off
It has to be and it sounds awful. This would be better if it were silent or had music.
What happened to the audio
Just chased this locomotive today. Her horn was replaced with one that’s WAY louder
Love the old blue liners.
Fantastic!
I worked at South Amboy on the PRR in the 1960s. While I remember the passenger service to New York and on the NYLB, the big operation was still dumping coal at Amboy. Coal traffic from West Virginia came via PRR over the Main Line to the Jamesburg Secondary then to South Amboy. 😊😊😊
1:30 no way people can stand close to the edge of the train anymore that fast in the 80s safety wasn't a thing
Dang,, less than 2 months before I turned 11. I feel old. Wonder why RUclips is only now showing me these vids in search results, I really enjoy these old Metro-North vids, especially on the New Haven Line.
I'm the first one to like this video.
I've ridden the Trenton Iine countIess times BUT this wouId have been about 3 years before I was born though. (SIightIy before Market East opened in fact.) So it's amazing seeing the trains puIIing into Reading TerminaI instead of going underground to Suburban Station. :O
I rode every single one of those rail cars on septa at some point growing up. . So many great memories of cutting school. Hopping the train into philly. Pinball and pizza in center city watching them build the commuter tunnel
Can you upload any videos where the LIRR M7s were making their debut in Long Island?
Keystone Service. Ran with 3 cars at times in the early-mid 2000s.
That’s a P32AC-DM #701
love these types of videos
First, these GG1’s look great! Second, I’m surprised to see Southern railway E8’s. Third, I love those ancient railroad crossing gates. Fourth, this can’t be from 1977. Must be 1983.
I worked second trick at Reading Terminal, doing SD tests with Mikey Monastero. John DeStolfo was still the supervisor of signals. It was was great to see those old wooden passenger cars, some not even fully painted with new SEPTA livery. During the afternoon rush, I was out at NX. One afternoon, the code machine failed, and John and I acted as dispatcher and towerman for the afternoon rush, with my panel set to "manual." I actually got a "good job" out of John, who rarely thanked or acknowledged anyone. At that time, it was a good job to have. I moved on in 1985, when the SEPTA split took place. Good memories, though. I also enjoyed seeing a GG1 in Amtrack livery. Another location I worked, in 1978, was out at the Nest yard, running the second trick trouble truck. The shanty was right next to the tracks, and a GG1 drove by and made such a noise I nearly fell out of my chair next to the old pot bellied oil stove. This was when Nest was still an automobile unloading facility.
I was born in 2007, but seeing this and how things were back then is so interesting
there is a female engineer that ive seen running this train but i don't know the name i do know some amtrak engineers that do run trains on the ns but i dc
Awesome Catch
Awesome video!!!!
I miss the old Mineola so much after watchig this. It had such character!
NJT wasn't created in 1977 it was until 1979 it was created so this was filmed sometime after July 1979 or 1980
There's a few ex B&M coaches mixed in there.
Never knew the power packs worked with the c420's, I assumed they came in with the gp38's.
I love the CSX C40-8s
I still miss those long Island railroad M1 Train 🚆 😢
I wanted to hear the audio signal
Awesome pre electrification footage. What year did the wires reach providence exactly?
I’m 69 and I remember the old terminal….along with John Wanamaker’s ,Lit Brothers,Gimbels,Strawbridge’s & Clothiers,Horn&Hardart’s …ect!!
Will you meet me at The Eagle? I brought my first suit as a teenager from Wannamakers
I miss the old configuration of tracks and crossings. The LIRR lost a lot of character with the changes.
Wow, a scene that you will never see in Philly again, the trains roaring into Reading Terminal. I am happy, however, that they incorporated the train shed into the Convention Center.
#418 has a K5LA as of present day.
That’s an M3 at the front of the train if you ask me
That one M1 in the background💀
Those absolutely filthy diesel engines and their coaches. That was classic LIRR of the day. I think the dirt was the only thing holding the exteriors together.
That's La Grange IL not Blue Island. IHB goes underneath BNSF there.
Classic catch!
Got some M-3's on there too
Very nice, wow compared to today's Capitol Limited the train in this video is an absolute monster! This video had to be taken at the very end of the Mail and Express era, I was rather shocked to see this many express boxcars on the rear of the train in such a late date of 2004. Thank you for sharing this video!
Sat in a parlor car several times on the 535 am from Patchogue to Babylon when they were short on the regular coaches. Really enjoyed those nice swivel seats.
Sat in a parlor car several times when they were short on regular coaches. It was on the 535 am from Patchogue, ending at Babylon - really nice and comfy in there.
Remember the signs posted in the terminal. No Photography
Loved the ex southern e8's
Lirr
LIRR
One of the few relics from the world’s fair that’s still operating. If you ever go to Florida, there’s something called the Carousel of Progress at Disney, which debuted in ‘64 and is the only ride in Florida that Walt himself touched.
Best sound in the world!
I wonder if this can be done in hi res. or is the old videotape low quality.
Those are M3As, not M1As. You can tell by looking closely at the side windows. You can even see the open cab window on the 4th car opening as it would on an M3A.
