I visited munich in may of 1998 with my school-class. It was great there.

Your GMC looks great to be 41 years old. It seems someone cared enough for it to keep it up. My dad test drove an earlier model and i fell in love with RV's. My late wife and I almost bought a 1974 Superior motor home to live in full time while we were in the Air Force. Wish we had. Stay Safe, Don

Hey. Where's the pull-down TV screen? They just don't make RV's with such class and style like these GMC motorhomes. If I ever get money ahead, I'll put one in my driveway!
That's what iPads and MacBooks are for. No room or time for TVs.
I heard 78 s are super hard to buy parts for. Dunno if its true or not. I want one of these so bad.
Not at all. Most readily available and what isn't at the local O'Reilly, NAPA, etc. is available through other GMC-specific channels (Applied GMC in CA, Cooperative GMC in FL, to list a few).
i wonder why the guy said that then. It was like 2 months ago I was reading about the 73-78 & one comment said These were great but the 78 is almost impossible to get parts for ........so in my head I was like.....ok try to avoid a 78 lol
Nothing different in a 78 that makes parts difficult. Easier to get parts for a GMC motorhome because there is a devoted following of owners. Also many people working hard to provide upgrades, including rear wheel dis conversions, parking brake system, new 4 air bag system etc.
Is there any more to the story than than just following the rv lol

I would but the distance it would extend interferes with the bath door being open when we are parked. Would need something super thin. In the grand scheme of things, not a high priority...!

Not sure why you are asking. This (our) GMC is not for sale; I merely wanted to provide a glimpse into this beauty for those that also enjoy them.

There are many European owners. If you are truly interested, I suggest you request to join the "Classic GMC Motorhomes" Facebook group to ask others how they did it. There are many great resources and the owners are very knowledgeable and wonderful. Great find. We miss our Royale. It was a side bath, rear twins like yours. Nice to have had all that electrical moved to the Hutch area. I hated crawling under the bed every time to switch from shore to generator.

Thank you, Jason! I had been casually looking since the early 2000s, mostly through Bethune Sales online and other sources. When I found a decent coach for sale in Grand Blanc, I reached out to someone who lived nearby, was on the "Black List," and asked him if he would help my husband and me look over the coach. He mentioned that he had also just seen a coach for sale that was in excellent condition and provided me with the contact information. He offered to meet with us and that owner to help us out. From the moment we saw it, we knew it was an extremely well-maintained GMC. P.S.: I've been a near-lifelong fan of them, fondly remembering when they were introduced (I was 11) and that my parents dreamed of purchasing one when they retired and traveling across the US in one.
What a great twist of fate--it was meat to be! Enlisting the Black List in such a way was a great idea. Thanks so much for the advice! One last question--as I'm trying to formulate a ballpark budget--may I ask what the purchase price was?

have you had any mechanical issues since you acquired it?
Just a few minor problems. Right side airbag line sustained a hole while traveling and the compressor likely continually ran too long while we were underway and overheated the motor. We fixed line and manually inflated. Need to replace compressor. Radiator overflow reservoir tube was not properly connected and caused overheating issues.
Of course! These beauties are 40 years old. The addage amongst us owners: GMC stands for "Get More Cash."

You are correct. My parents live on Carmody Drive. They have lived there since April of 1979 and put their house on the market last Friday and it sold in less than one day. :'-(
This was one of a few instances where I could actually get my grandparents to talk about this. She would not have agreed to a 1:1 (typical) interview situation in any way shape or form. If you wat all the way to the end, she realizes that I've been recording it and gets pissed. Fortunately, she continued to talk for a little while longer. My mother would never talk about it. These were the only opportunities I had/created.
It makes me wonder whether anyone other than her husband (if that's who the gentleman is) takes her seriously. This woman survived a horror that most of us today could not even endure a fraction of. There should have been a setting worthy of the telling of this tragic time in her life. "(sorry)"? This is shameful.
