    This man claims he "wasn't looking for things to complain about" -- but EVERYTHING I have EVER heard him say was a complaint about Japan, and an unjustified one at that. As far as I'm concerned (as a white man living in Japan, who majored in Japanese Studies in college) no white man who moves to Japan by choice has the right to compare themselves to MLK or Mandela -- ESPECIALLY if he is going to apply apparently racist double standards to the Japanese ...

      It amazing how cowardly and ass backwards westerners have become in this day and age; as well, how much westerner civilization has fallen to where westerners(black, white and all sub varieties) are normalizing discrimination. You sir are disgrace and you know what, god bless Debito for having common sense and critical thinking skills and at least saying something/putting the word out. You enjoy brown nosing for the Japanese/ "wa"

    Are you saying what has happened to Europe is good ('for the geese..'), or bad ('discontent..')? And why must European immigration policy etc. become universal? What you think is ethically right, another race of people are not allowed to object to, in their own country? Why? 'Why should it be different for the japanese?' It is a different country, democracy, culture, values, people... It is by definition different. The question is, why do you want to make it the same?

  • @romancandlefight1144
    @romancandlefight1144 12 лет назад

    I think Europeans choose to accept them for the sheer bonus to GDP etc. 'Why shouldn't they be the same as us' is hardly an argument for social upheaval. It's not a game of who can smear cosmopolitanism in their own face. If you don't like it the way it is, it makes sense not to go and try to live there. There are at least 100 million people who don't want a 'Europe 2' where Japan used to be.

    Bullshit! I know Japan has some issues that need to be addressed, but Debito is not the answer. All he does is wine and moan on his blog to attract attention and exagerate using fear to control his followers. Japan needs someone to move it forward, but Debito is only making things wors. He's an example of everything that's wrong with the international media. A Wayne Gale(Natural Born Killers character) clone.

  • @romancandlefight1144

    in fact he's asking for more than complete Japanese rights for himself. he's asking for western rights to be tolerated and sometimes obeyed by the Japanese... in their own country

  • @romancandlefight1144
    @romancandlefight1144 13 лет назад

    @xenomorph42 my point is, debito is claiming the exact same rights as a Japanese person, not just basic human rights (which he quite clearly already has, as well as much more)

  • @xenomorph42
    @xenomorph42 13 лет назад

    Respond to this video... August 15, 1945, not for me, for the world. Thank you.

  • @xenomorph42
    @xenomorph42 13 лет назад

    @romancandlefight Yes, but not when it comes to basic human rights. Basic, which means, if I am charged with a crime for example, if a Japanese national punches me in the face and I make a formal complaint, nothing gets down, but if I do the opposite, I get charged. This is what I am talking about. Do as you wish in your country, but as a human, give and extend to me the same equal rights. So your analysis is totally off.

  • @romancandlefight1144
    @romancandlefight1144 13 лет назад

    @xenomorph42 yes human rights are fair enough, but it is still your opinion that it doesn't serve them well, and I think that if it's their country they should choose what rules to follow irrespective of how visitors might want to be treated..

  • @xenomorph42
    @xenomorph42 13 лет назад

    @romancandlefight I'm no fan of dweeble, but there are many foreigners in Japan, and as such, foreigners should be able to have basic human rights like the U.S. that guarantees the safety and well being for everyone. If foreigners are asking for specialized rights that that is irrelevant and counter-productive to the Japanese society, fine, I get it. But I live in Japan for 13 years and I know that Japan being a consistent isolationist nation doesn't serve them well.

    @romancandlefight And why is that? You make it seem like the Japan Empire was complicit in its actions towards the U.S. during the war. So after the attack on Pearl Harbor, we didn't have the right to impose or force???

    Is Debito saying that he would support the IC cards if everyone in Japan had to carry them? I'm sorry, if that is so, that is still bullshit. Racial discrimination is not the issue. The problem is that government thugs think they can force their will on peaceful people.

    I'm not japanese, but I don't understand why someone who is lucky enough to be allowed to stay in a country *which isn't your own*, should arrogantly demand all the same privileges as the people *who's country it is*? Also, does nobody else realise that if japan's population was cosmopolitanised, it would lose its uniqueness and charm which makes it so appealing to us foreigners in the first place? Let the japanese run their country their way, otherwise it will cease to be 'japanese'.

    @novajoke and I seriously hope the immigration policies dont end up like say in california. I love japans uniqueness, certainly there are a few things id like to see change but for the most part I enjoy their culture even more so then my own

  • @drhikarisan
    @drhikarisan 14 лет назад

    @novajoke Indeed, I'm more for a much more peaceful reform of the way gaijin are treated and I believe that just by our presence there things are slowly changing. Perhaps It wont even entirely be in my life time but I would still much rather take it slowly and know that the Japanese will see that we're not all loud and annoying and shouting only about ourselves. I'd much rather they come to see gaijin as they see themselves

  • @drhikarisan
    @drhikarisan 14 лет назад

    @novajoke just becasue you move to another country doesnt mean you dont have rights. Debito usually goes on about horrendously unfair treatment, however the reason I don't side with him is that #1 he sure seems to find a lot of it so something is amiss in my opinion and #2 he handles it the wrong way a good part of the time.

  • @drhikarisan
    @drhikarisan 14 лет назад

    @novajoke also you cant just say that japan is so safe because of its immigration laws. Obviously that is not the only contributing factor. Overall I get the feeling you originally thought i was siding against you, but judging from your original comment we are in agreement. I see no problem with just carrying a gaijin card on me 24/7, thats not a big deal.

  • @drhikarisan
    @drhikarisan 14 лет назад

    @novajoke I never said I had a problem with it, quite the oppposite for the most part. I do disagree with the idea of a trackable gaijin card as like he said it could lead to "walking while gaijin" encounters for those who choose naturalization. For the most part I dont agree with what debito says. Some of what he says is true but other parts he takes an extreme view on some things and in my opinion handles them the wrong way.

  • @drhikarisan
    @drhikarisan 14 лет назад

    @novajoke really pretty late i know but, the gaijin cards have to be carried on you 24/7 and a police officer can come up at any point and ask you for it without reason. and if what he says is true about having to go to an immigration office without having one near by is problematic as well. However some people say that officers abuse their right and harass gaijin by asking for their card. Personally I have no problem with it but I'm not in japan yet, the immigration office could be a problem
