JD Sumner
Добавлен 26 апр 2023
This is just a fan channel, not an official one dedicated to what I considere the best bass singer of all times. Every Friday (and at random for the bonuses) I post, for the most part, uncommon or never-before-seen recordings of JD Sumner that I find interresting in order to make people know him better and help them discover his immense talent. Should point out that I don't own any of these recordings, nor do I intend to steal them from others. That's why I try to give as much credit as possible in the description of my videos. I do not make any profits from these videos and don't want to. All I want is to give visibility to rare or never-seen recordings in the best quality possible and hope to make JD's fans happy.
If you want to send me rare recordings to post on my channel, you can send to this email : jd.sumner2498@gmail.com

JD Sumner & The Stamps - Walk That Lonesome Road - Sep 4th, 1972 DS (good quality + JD hits a G#0)
Просмотров 164День назад
Here's JD and the Stamps quartet singing JD's emblematic bass song "I Got To Walk That Lonesome Road" on the September 4th, 1972 dinner show of Elvis. In the "extreme low notes" video I marked the lowest note as a chest Bb0 because it sounded like a Bb0 (at 2:47). But after putting it in audacity, I saw that it was actually a G#0. Not really sure if it is a chest note anymore, I think it's more...

Here is an interview of JD and Ed Enoch the day after Elvis died with the famous JD quote :"Beside Jesus Christ, he's the greatest man I ever knew". Sorry for the very poor quality of the recording but I thought it would be better to share than noting. If someday I find a better version, I'll share it.

JD Sumner & The Stamps - Tell Me The Story Again (1994)
That's the same for me at the start where he said the longer he stays up lower he can sing. I feel that. In mornings it's harder imo and my voice is around 30-80 hz usually around 60 at constant. I'm almost 20 my voice started changing at 18 crackling. I used to sing higher songs but about last year I started looking at bass, oktavist, basso profundo voices. It makes me excited for my future and couple years in the future since bass voices like mine get fuller and better usually as we grow older.

Incredible
wow make a vidio of from jd brooks mic and speaker from early years to the end
Elvis And JD and the stamps ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ forever and always ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.
I really believe that JD could have gone even lower and sound louder if he had proper training. The sound of his vocal chords tell me he could have gone much deeper, but maybe wasn't using the chords at their full potential.
Elvis week 15aug 1996 in a fan Club was it
Buddy this was Backstage from the elvis week 1996 aug

I met him in the 1990s at a church with j.d. Sumner and the stamps and got his autograph. Very nice guy.
I did too 95 then 97 super nice guy
The Cathedrals used to really tear up the stage with this song. Of course, J. D. mopped the floor with his low notes.
He was simply brilliant. God bless JD
That note was nothing for jd sumner to hit
JD’s ear was very good. The fact that he could slide that slow, hold the note that long, then slide back up is incredible. He’d usually slide below the note and come back to it. Never will be another like this fella. His vocal cords must’ve been 3 feet long.
Elvis Presley and JD did this song together many times. First of all it was serious and then and later years they became joke versions with Elvis clowning around trying to make JD laugh. This is a very nice version of the song sung by JD and the stamps Quartet.

Steve warren was not there buck buckles was high voice i have the show
High tenor Low bass
THE WAY HE MADE POOR JAMES JUMP. I CAN'T
Even though I love to hear JD‘s low deep bass voice, it’s lovely to actually hear him sing a song in his higher range. Lovely song that is. Thank you for sharing.
I totally agree, I wish he sang more higher songs like this one because he's very good at it !!
JD was very focused and disciplined when he was singing so Elvis must have been hilarious that day to crack JD up like that 🤣
Anyone notice JD keeps turning Jake around during his solo?
This is one of the best songs they ever recorded! I'm so glad to have found this rare version
Fenomenal J D Summer
I love this song!
I was there with my friend and her mom. I was 12 but still loved it. My friend and I were dancing in the aisle beside our seats. Great memory.
Guau💪
The BEST Gospel singing group EVER! And the BEST GROUP of Blackwoods with J.D. Sumner (Guiness World Record Holder as lowest bass IN THE WORLD!), Bill Shaw, whom I consider one of the BEST TENORS IN GOSPEL MUSIC, not to take away from James Blackwood or Cecil Blackwood!!
This is my favorite Gospel Song

Yeah, don't know if they sang it like this or if the recording was a little bit sped up. Probably the second option I guess
Vocal fry? Are you sure?
Pretty sure the A0 is a fry. He used it for a comic goal. Though all the other low notes, including the F1 and E1, are in chest voice
@@JDSumnerStuff well, it's a term I see used quite frequently among bass singing enthusiasts and I'm not sure it means the same to everyone. When I think of fry I think of someone squeezing the throat to scratch out a low note. Typically shrill and poor quality. Not what I'm hearing in this cut. In fact I've never heard JD "fry". by that definition
Vocal fry can sometimes have quality, adding that this A0 note is around his lowest chest note so it's an easy note to hit in vocal fry for him. Honestly all his recorded fries are mostly accidental and he didn't like the use of vocal fry in other bass singer singing. If you want I made a video called "JD Sumner extreme low notes" were you have some recordings of accidental fry in the 0 octave and even -1 octave
Oh my God! This is a true showing of his vocal prowess!!
Whom are singing the low C ?
I tried to search who did this low C, but I couldn't find it😣. It's certainly not JD though
